Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
The Cow
- Chapter 2
| Contains 286 Verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
1- |
Alif lam Mim (From God (Allah) to Mohammad) 2 |
|
2- |
This (Quran) is a book in which there is no
doubt in its truthfulness and authenticity,
and which is a guide for God-conscious, God-pious people, |
|
3- |
These people believe in the unseen truths
(God, angels which are subordinate agents of God, in the Day of
Judgment and the Afterlife),
do regular prayers and donate of what We (Our Majesty) have
provided for them (to needy persons). 3 |
|
4- |
And those people who believe in the
Revelations sent to you (Mohammad)
and the Revelations before you and they are certain of the
Afterlife
(that there must be a Judgment Day, pleasant life for good
people and hellish suffering as punishment for evil ones'
misdeeds.) |
|
|
5- |
Those (above mentioned) people are on the
right track of guidance by their Lord Sustainer
and those are the ones, who shall ultimately succeed and be
happy in salvation. |
|
6- |
As for those who deny and reject the truth,
it is the same to them, whether you warn them
(of the consequences of their denial and rejection) or you do
not warn them, they won't believe. |
|
7- |
(Because of their insistence to cover up the
truth from themselves,) God has sealed upon their hearts
and ears
and upon their eyes, there is a veil (so that they are
not able anymore to perceive and think about the truth)
and there is a great suffering in their future.
4 |
|
8- |
Some of the people say that they believe in
God and (in the Judgment Day and) After life, but they really
are not believers. |
|
9- |
They are trying to deceive God and the
believers, but in fact they are deceiving themselves and they do
not realize it. |
|
10- |
There is an inner disease (of fraud and
double talk) in their hearts and personality
and God has increased the disease (on account of their attitude and personality)
and on account of
their telling lies, they shall suffer gravely. |
|
|
11- |
And when they are told: "Don't cause trouble
and mischief on earth",
they answer: "we are truly improving things." |
|
|
12- |
Be aware that they are the real mischief
makers, but they don't realize it. |
|
13- |
And when they are told: "why don't you
believe in Truth like the good people have done?",
they answer: "shall we believe as the fools did?"
Truly, they are the real fools themselves, but they are not
aware of it. |
|
|
14- |
When they meet the believers, they say: "we
believe.", but when they are alone with their evil friends,
they say: "We are with you, on your side, we were only faking
and making fun of them (the believers)." |
|
|
15- |
God throws back their mockery on themselves
and leaves them for a while to move freely in their rebellion.
|
|
|
16- |
Those are the kind of people who bought error
by giving up guidance
and this deal did not profit them at all and they were not well
advised (in this kind of deal). |
|
|
17- |
Their case is similar to a person that (in
the dark night outdoors) kindles a fire to see around a little
and soon as the fire lights up around him, God (by wind or rain)
extinguishes the light and leaves them in utter darkness,
so they can't see anything. |
|
|
18- |
There are practically deaf, dumb and blind
(as they did not use there faculties of hearing, speaking and
seeing and did not care evaluating the truth),
therefore they won't come back (from their darkness, in which
they are lost). |
|
19- |
Their condition is also similar to people who
are lost in the dark of the night in a rain storm with dark
clouds,
thunder and lightning and with the fear of death, they put their
fingers in their ears
so that they might not hear the thunder effect of the lightning
(and they imagine they would be safe by that),
but God encompasses the disbelievers (they cannot hide from
Him). |
|
|
20- |
It is as if the lightning is blinding them;
each time it lights up, they go a few steps and when it darkens
again,
they stay and if God wanted, He world have taken away their
hearing and their sight
and certainly God is powerful over all matters.
5 |
|
|
21- |
O, you people, worship your Lord Sustainer
who created you and all those before you,
so that you may become ever more conscious to God, |
|
|
22- |
Who spread
the earth and structured the sky,
and sent down water from the sky and by that He produces
harvests of food products for your maintenance.
So don't make icons and idols or other things as partners to
God, and you know (it is wrong and nonsense to do that). |
|
|
23- |
If you are in doubt about the Revelations
that We have gradually revealed to our good servant (Muhammad),
then produce a chapter similar to its content and call your
witnesses (friends), apart from God
(to witness and see for themselves), if you are telling the
truth. |
|
|
24- |
But if you don't do it and of course you
will never be able to do that,
then beware of the Fire, whose fuel are the (deeds and
personalities of bad) people and the stones
(icons, idols, gold etc that they worshipped), which has been
prepared for the disbelievers.
6 |
|
|
25- |
(O prophet), Give good news to the people
who believe and do good deeds,
that they will have Gardens (of Paradise) down where rivers and
streams flow;
each time they are given produce and fruits of those Gardens,
they would recognize and say:
"These are the kind of fruits and produce which we were given
(by God) before, during our earthly life",
they will also be offered and served with similar foods (that
they did not have before)
and they will have pure mates and they shall live there forever. |
|
|
26- |
God does not mind to mention for example (the marvelous
creation of) a mosquito
and whatever higher (or lesser) complicated living beings; as to
the response of those who believe in God's words,
they know that it is a true message from their Lord, but
regarding people who disbelieve, they would then say:
"What does God intend by mentioning this example, confusing
thereby many and also guiding many in the process."
But in fact only the prejudiced sinners get confused and
deviated by God's words
(as they cannot comprehend because they don't want to). |
|
|
27- |
Such people are the ones who disregard and
break the covenant of God after it was imposed on them
and they cut off the connections and means of reaching to truth,
that God has ordered them to reach
(by their having contempt and prejudice against the prophet and
teachers of truths
and not allowing themselves to study and examine), and they
commit mischief on earth; those are the ultimate losers.
7 |
|
|
28- |
How could you disbelieve and deny God?
In view of the fact that you were dead (objects of earth), then
God gave you life,
then He causes you to die, then He brings you again back to life
and to Him ultimately you all shall be returned (to be accounted for
your deeds on earth). |
|
|
29- |
He is the One who created for you all that is
on and in the earth,
He
also designed the sky and made it in seven skies and He is Aware
of everything. 8 |
|
|
30- |
At one time, your Lord-Creator said to the
angels:
"I am about to place a successor (to previous creatures and a
follower of God's will) on earth."
The angels said: "Are you going to place someone there who would
be doing mischief and would shed blood?
Whereas we praise You in gratitude and purify the world at Your
service,
while affirming Your Absolute Purity and Faultlessness".
God said: "Indeed I know what you do not know".
9 |
|
31- |
And God taught Adam (man) all the names (to
relate everything and concept, by their names),
then He presented them to the angels and then said: "Tell me of
the nature of these names, if you are right." |
|
|
32- |
The angels said: "You are above all, all
glory is to You.
We have no knowledge except what You taught us.
You truly are the All-knowing, All-wise". |
|
|
33- |
God said: "O Adam inform them of their names
(and of things)."
And when he informed them of their names, God said to the
angels:
"Didn't I tell you that I know all the hidden secrets of the
heavens (galaxies) and the earth
and I know all that which you reveal and that which you would
conceal?" |
|
|
34- |
And when We told the angels: "Prostrate
yourselves and bow down [to Me] for the (creation of ) Adam".
The angels prostrated except Iblis who refused and acted
arrogantly and became of the disbelievers, ungrateful.
10 |
|
|
35- |
We said: "O Adam, (humankind) you and your
mate dwell in the garden
and eat from its bounties as much as
you desire,
but do not approach "this special tree",
else you would be also
of those who do harm to themselves (by trespassing God's rules). |
|
|
36- |
Then Satan (Iblis, who previously had refused
to bow and prostrate
and who has heard God's command to humans, deceived them and)
caused them to slip and fall,
thus drove them out of the state of happiness they were in, and
We said to them (humans, their children and Iblis):
"Get down all of you (of this place and condition),
some of you being enemies of others and there is on earth, for
your use, a place of dwelling
and means of livelihood for a while (till you die). |
|
|
37- |
Then certain words of inspiration reached
Adam (humankind) from his Lord
(and by using those words, he learned how to ask God's
Forgiveness) whereupon God turned to him forgivingly,
and He accepted his repentance,
since God indeed is Very Forgiving and Especially Merciful to
the good people. |
|
|
38- |
We said: "All of you get down from that
state, then whenever a guidance from Me reaches you,
then those who follow My guidance, they should have neither
fear, nor shall they grieve and be sad." |
|
|
39- |
But those who disbelieve and call our Verses
of Revelations, as lies,
they shall be the inhabitants of the Fire (in Hell) and they
shall stay there forever. |
|
|
40- |
O children of Israel (Jacob), remember
the blessing that I blessed you with
and so fulfill your Covenant with Me, I shall fulfill My
Covenant with you and fear Me alone
(don't fear others who would make you break your good promises
by threatening you).
11 |
|
|
41- |
And believe in what I have revealed (in the
Quran) which is confirming (that part of the Scripture =Torah)
that is with you and don't be the first to reject faith in it
and don't sell My Verses for a miserable price
(don't reject or give up on My Verses of Guidance because it may
undermine your social-material positions
and business interests such as position of an elder or rabbi,
all of which is a small price for the everlasting life in the
Hereafter),
and be in awe of Me.
12 |
|
|
42- |
And don't cover up truth with falsehood to
conceal the truth, while you know it. |
|
|
43- |
And keep up regular prayer and pay poor-share
(zakat, which is basically paying for helping poor people)
and bow down (break your arrogance) along with others who are
bowing down to God in prayer. |
|
|
44- |
Do you preach other people to be righteous,
but you forget your own duties (to practice what you preach),
while you have been reading the Scripture?
Why don't you use your reasoning? |
|
|
45- |
Seek Gods' help through patience,
perseverance and by prayer to God
and this is hard to people except for those who are humbly in
awe of God. |
|
|
46- |
Those who bear in mind that ultimately they
will meet their Lord and that they will all return to Him (for
their final destiny). |
|
|
47- |
O children of Israel, remind yourselves of My
special favors that I granted to you and (by guidance via many
prophets,)
and I made you excel over all nations (of that time) |
|
|
48- |
So, prepare and guard yourself against the
Day, when no person can in any way vouch for another,
nor intercession will be accepted on his behalf, nor ransom or
bail for wrongdoings is accepted, nor can they be helped. |
|
|
49- |
And remember that We delivered rescued you from the
Pharaoh's people
who inflicted you with grave suffering and torture by
slaughtering your sons (to finish you up)
and sparing your women alive (to enslave them), and in that,
there was a tremendously great trial from your Lord. |
|
|
50- |
Remember, when We divided the sea for you (to
cross to the other said,) delivered and saved you
(from Pharaohs army who were after you and from drowning),
We drowned the Pharaoh's gangs, while you were watching them
drown. |
|
|
51- |
And (remember) when We appointed forty
nights for
Moses (to attend at Mount Sinai, to receive the commandments),
then (in his absence), you took the (golden) calf to worship,
after he had left
and you were unjust to yourselves (by committing idolatry).
|
|
|
52- |
Thereafter We forgave you, so that you may be
grateful (for My guidance). |
|
|
53- |
And remember when We gave Moses the Book
(Torah) as the Distinguisher (between right and wrong)
so that you may be guided. |
|
|
54- |
And remember when Moses told his people: "O
my people, by taking the calf for worship,
you did injustice to yourselves (and each other), therefore
repent to your Creator and kill
(the evildoers who made people worship the calf) amongst
yourselves, (so that this does not happen again),
this is better for you in the Judgment of your Creator, so that
He would accept your repentance;
since He is indeed the Very Forgiving, the Most Merciful". |
|
|
55- |
And remember when you told Moses: "We won't
ever believe you until we see God face to face",
then the thunderbolt of punishment took you down while you were
[all] watching . |
|
|
56- |
Then We raised you back to life after you
were struck dead, so that you may appreciate. |
|
|
57- |
And (in the heat of the desert of Sinai) We
caused the clouds to shade over you
and sent down "manna" (sweet extract of plants) and "salva"
(quail) for you and said:
"Eat of the pure and clean foods We provided for you.
(They refused accepting it and by doing that) they did not harm Us,
but they harmed themselves". |
|
|
58- |
And remember when We commanded you and said:
"Enter this town and eat of its plentiful produce as you wish,
but enter the gate in prostration (with humility)
to God and say: 'Forgive us',
We shall forgive your sins and
increase the rewards of those who do good." |
|
|
59- |
But then the evil ones changed the word
(Forgive us) with disrespect to a word other than it was spoken
to them.
Then We sent down on the evildoers a punishment from the sky
against their mischief and rebellion against God's command". |
|
|
60- |
And remember when Moses was seeking water for
his people.
We told him: "Strike the rock with your cane",
whereupon twelve springs gushed from it, each group of his
people knew then their proper watering place,
(it was said to them:) "Eat and drink of the provisions of God, but
do not commit mischief on earth." |
|
|
61- |
And remember when you told Moses: "We cannot
endure forever one kind of food, 13
so pray to your Lord for us to produce for us of what the earth
grows,
such as green vegetables-herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils and
onions."
Moses said: "Are you trying to exchange that which is superior
(food) for the things that are inferior?
then go (back) down to the Egyptian city; what you are asking
for, is there".
So humiliation and misery was struck on their destiny and they
earned a wrath and they deserved it from God,
this was on the account of their rejecting God's miracles and
guiding signs
and their killing of prophets without any justification or
reason; yes, this is result of that they rebelled,
and kept trespassing the limits (of God's commandments). |
|
|
62- |
Certainly those who believe (in Quran) and
those who are the Jews and the Christians
and the Sabians
(people who are adherents of the prophet John)
and (in general) whoever believed in the One God and the Day of
Judgment and did good deeds,
they shall have rewards with their Lord and there shall be no
fear for them and they shall not be sad (in the Hereafter). |
|
|
63- |
And remember when We received your promise
(to follow the Commandments)
and had raised the Mount Sinai above you, stating:
"Take and uphold strongly what We have given you as guidance and
study what is in it (Torah),
so that you many become pious". |
|
|
64- |
But thereafter, you turned away (from the
Commandments)
and had it not been for the special Mercy of God on you, you
would have certainly been the losers. |
|
|
65- |
And you have certainly known about the story
of your (predecessors) who violated the restrictions of Sabbath
(Saturday Holiday). We told them: "Be apes, lowly and rejected".
14 |
|
|
66- |
We thus made it an exemplary punishment to
them and for the following generations and an advisory lesson
for the pious. |
|
|
67- |
And when Moses told his people: "God
commanded you to slaughter a cow".
They said: "Are you joking with us?"
He said: "I take refuge to God, from being a fool". |
|
|
68- |
They said: "Ask your Lord to explain to us
what kind (of a cow) it should be".
Moses said: "God states: It should be a heifer which is neither
too old and rundown, nor young,
but of middle age, now do what you are ordered to do". |
|
|
69- |
They again said: "Ask your Lord to explain to
us what color it should be".
Moses said: "He states, it should be intense yellow, a color
that delights the onlookers." |
|
|
70- |
They again said: "Ask your Lord to explain to
us, exactly how this heifer should appear to us,
since all cows appear to us similar to each other and God
willing we'll be guided." |
|
|
71- |
Moses said: "God states: it should be a
heifer not made tame to till the soil,
nor been used for pumping water for irrigation of farms, should
be of sound
color without spots or blemish."
They said: "Now you brought the truth (telling us the
truth),"
then they slaughtered it, even though they did not have in mind
to do it! |
|
|
72- |
And when you (children of Israel) killed a
person and then disputed the crime on each other
but God disclosed the truth that you were hiding;
16 |
|
|
73- |
And We stated: "Hit it (the body of the
deceased person) with a piece of the slaughtered cow.
That is how God brings the dead back to life,
(so the person will be alive again and tell the story);
this way, God brings the signs of His Might, so that you may
think and come to reasonable conclusions". |
|
|
74- |
But then again your hearts hardened (with
stiff inflexibility) after all that (miracle), like stones,
or even harder, since indeed from some rocks, gush out springs
and there are stones, when they crack, some water will flow from
and some of the rocks will crash down in awe of God.
And know that God is not unaware of what you do. |
|
|
75- |
Do you (Muslims) really hope that they (the
people of The Book: Jews and Christians) believe in your
religion?
Whereas a party of them (rabbis and priests) heard the Words of
God in (the Bible, about the coming of the prophet of Islam),
then they altered it knowingly, after they had understood its
implications!
(That they won't be important rabbis and priests anymore, if
they would accept the truth of Quran and Muhammad).
15 |
|
|
76- |
And when they meet the believers, they would
say: "We believe (also)",
but when they are alone with one another, they say:
"Why do you disclose to them (the Muslims) what God has revealed
to you
(earlier in Torah regarding the signs of the coming prophet
Mohammad),
so that they (the Muslims) would argue with you (the Jews) about
it, witnessing your Lord, aren't you using your reason?" |
|
|
77- |
Don't they know that God surely knows
whatever they keep as secret and what they reveal? |
|
|
78- |
And amongst them, there are illiterate
persons who do not have the knowledge of the Book,
who do not have but fancies of hearsays
and they only guess what the real truth might be. |
|
|
79- |
Then woe to those (rabbis, priest, etc) who
write the book with their hands, and then claim: "This is from
God",
so that they would gain a little for its price.
So woe to them for what they wrote (untruth and claiming it was
from God)
and woe to them for what they earn from that.
17 |
|
|
80- |
They even claim: "The Hellfire shall not
touch us (Jews) except for a few number of days".
Say (O Muhammad to them): "Have you received a promise from God
(regarding your claim)?
Since God does not break His promise,
or is it that you merely are saying something from God, without
having any knowledge of it? |
|
|
81- |
Yes, those who did earn evil (because of
their doing evil) and their sins have surrounded them (in their
everyday life),
those shall be dwellers of Hellfire and they shall remain in it
(in that condition) forever. |
|
|
82- |
(But) those who believe (in One God and in
the Quran) and do good deeds, they shall be inhabitants of
Paradise,
in which they shall live forever. |
|
|
83- |
And remember when We took the covenant
(promise) of children of Israel (of Jacob)
that you should not worship any except God
and treat your parents, next of kin (relatives), the orphans and
the needy people with kindness and speak nicely to people,
establish regular prayers and give zakat (which is basically
paying for helping poor people),
then except for a few, you turned away (from the promise)
and were evading (God's commands). |
|
|
84- |
Also remember when We took your covenant
(promise) that you should not shed each other's blood
and should not expel one another from your homeland,
you then solemnly confirmed it, bearing witness (that you shall
uphold the commandments). |
|
|
85- |
But it is you who kill each other and expel a
group of people from their homeland,
helping others against them in sinful behavior and enmity
and when captives come into your custody, you demand ransom,
all the while it was forbidden for you to expel them in the
first place.
Do you believe in part of the Book (Torah) and reject other
parts of it?
What is then the punishment of those of you who commit those
crimes other than disgrace and despise during this life?
And in the Judgment Day, those shall be turned to the most
severe punishment, for God is not Unaware of what you do. |
|
|
86- |
Those are the kind of people who bought the
life of this world at the price and expense of the Hereafter,
so their punishment shall not be lightened nor shall they be
helped. |
|
|
87- |
Indeed, We gave Moses
the Book (Torah) and after him We sent messengers (prophets) in
succession
and We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs (Miracles of
prophethood) and aided him by the Holy Spirit (Angel Gabriel),
why then whenever a messenger came to you (Jews), with messages
that did not please you, you showed arrogance?
Some of you denied some of them and some of them, you even killed. |
|
|
88- |
And they (the evil ones) said: "Our hearts
are covered (protected from your messages)".
But (they don't realize that) God cursed them away in their
belligerence and disbelief, so only a few of them believe. |
|
|
89- |
And when, there came a Book (Quran) from God
to them confirming with the information that is with them
(regarding the characteristic of the prophet of Islam), and they
were beforehand expecting and hoping for it
to arrive and to help them (those who believe) against the
disbelievers (the idolaters),
yet when it came to them and they recognized it, they
disbelieved and rejected it.
Therefore God's curse (deprivation of Mercy) is on the
disbelievers. |
|
|
90- |
How mean and evil is the price for which they
sold themselves by rejecting and disbelieving what God has sent
down,
due to envy to the fact that God sends His Grace (of revelation)
to whomever of His servants He wills;
and by this behavior, they have incurred and caused on
themselves wrath upon wrath,
and for the disbelievers awaits a humiliating punishment. |
|
|
91- |
And when it was said to them: "Believe in
what God has sent down.", they said:
"We believe only in what was sent down to us (Israelites)",
and they disbelieve anything beyond that, even though it is the
truth, confirming what is with them
(from pervious Scriptures, about the coming of the prophet with
characteristics of Muhammad).
Say (O' Muhammad to them): "Why then were you (Israelites)
killing the prophets in the past, if you were real believers?" |
|
|
92- |
And indeed Moses came upon you with clear
messages and miracles,
but you chose to worship the (golden) calf in his absence and
you have been unjust oppressors. |
|
|
93- |
And (remember) when We took your promise
(covenant) and raised the Mount above you (as a warning),
saying:
"Take seriously the commandments (Torah) that We gave you."
They said: "We heard and disobeyed!",
and they were misled in their hearts to love the (golden) calf
in their disbelief.
Say: "Evil and mean is what your faith, if you have any faith,
that makes you do things like that". |
|
|
94- |
Say: "If (you imagine that) the Home in the
Hereafter in the presence of God is exclusive yours,
and not for any other people, then ask for your death (to reach
it sooner) if you are being truthful". |
|
|
95- |
But they would never request it, because of
what their hands have (done and) sent forth
(as their deeds into the realm of the Hereafter)
and God is All-Aware on the (behavior and results of deeds of
the) unjust people. |
|
|
96- |
And indeed you will find them the greediest
of people for (things of) life,
even more than those who associate partners to God;
every one of them would wish to be given life for a thousand
years,
but even if given such a long life, it will not save them even a
little from due punishment;
and God is Ever Observant of what they do. |
|
|
97- |
(As they are enemies of 'Archangel' Gabriel,
who brings messages from God to you,)
Say: "Whoever is an enemy of Gabriel (is an enemy of God's
Revelation),
for he brings down the revelation by God's command to your
heart, confirming what was sent before it
(as Torah and Gospel) and is a guidance and good news for the
believers". |
|
|
98- |
Whoever is the enemy of God, His angels and
messengers, Gabriel and Michael,
should know that God is the Enemy of the disbelievers. |
|
|
99- |
Indeed, We have sent down to you clear
messages
and none would disbelieve in the Revelation except those who are
used to revolt (against God's commands) |
|
100- |
Whenever they made a promise (agreement,
covenant with God or the believers),
then a party of them disregards and throws it aside.
But (the truth is that) most of them really don't have any faith
or feel any commitment. |
|
|
101- |
And when there came a messenger (Muhammad)
from God to them,
confirming the signs, which were with them (in the previous
Scriptures),
then a party of those who were given the Scripture, threw the
Book (Scripture) of God behind their backs,
pretending as if they don't know (and never saw or heard
anything about the coming of Muhammad in the Scripture). |
|
|
102- |
Such people also followed (instead,) that
which the evil ones read of sorcery in the reign of Solomon;
Solomon himself did not disbelieve, but the evil ones
disbelieved (God's teaching) by teaching people sorcery;
and that knowledge which was sent down (by God) to the two
angels Harut and Marut in Babylon;
they (the two angels) never taught anyone anything (but anti
sorcery knowledge and) until they told people:
"We are (teaching techniques to you) as a trial, (so don't
misuse it) and don't disbelieve in God".
But people learned from them (instead, by misusing) the spells,
that which they might cause separation between a man and his
wife,
though they cannot really harm anyone except by God's permission
(to people who followed them),
and they learned what harmed them and not would cause any
benefit for them
and they surely knew that the buyers of it (the techniques of
sorcery), would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter
and evil was the price for which they sold their own
personalities, if they had known the facts,
17 |
|
|
103- |
And if they believed in God and had guarded
themselves (against evil activities),
the reward from God would have been better, if they had known
this. |
|
|
104- |
O people of faith, don't use the word "Raena"
(when calling the prophet, which in Arabic means: 'Take care of
us'
and with slight change in Hebrew, the Jews used that word as a
slur and to ridicule the prophet),
but rather say the word "Unzurna" (meaning "look after us')
and listen carefully to the commands of God.
And for the disbelievers, there will be a painful punishment. |
|
|
105- |
Those people of the Book (Jews and
Christians) who disbelieve the truth, nor those who ascribe
partners to the One God,
wish that any good should be sent down from your Lord to you,
whereas God chooses for His Mercy especially whomever He pleases
and God is the Lord Owner of Great Grace. |
|
|
106- |
Whatever of any Verse (of regulation) We
abolish or decree that it be forgotten
(according to special circumstances in the life of Muhammad), We
bring a better or similar to it
(such as change of direction of prayer from Jerusalem to Kaaba
(the cube shaped original mosque building in Mecca)).
Don't you know that God has Might over all things (and
regulations)? |
|
|
107- |
Don't you know that certainly the control of
the heavens and the earth belongs to God
and that apart from God, you people have neither any guardian
nor helper? |
|
|
108- |
Or do you intend to question your messenger
(Muhammad) as Moses was questioned long before?
And (know that) whoever exchanges faith and belief with
disbelief and denial, has certainly deviated from the right way. |
|
|
109- |
Many of the people (adherents) of earlier
Scriptures, wish even after the truth has become clear to them
(about the truthfulness of Islam), out of envy on their part,
that they would turn you (Muslim) believers after you obtained
faith,
to turn back into disbelief. Nevertheless forgive them and
overlook (their negative endeavors)
till God brings about His command, as God has power over all
matters. |
|
|
110- |
And keep up the prayers and pay the
poor-rates and whatever good deeds you sent before (your death),
you shall find it (in the Hereafter) by God, behold God sees all
what you do. |
|
|
111- |
They said: "Nobody shall enter Paradise
except the ones who are Jew or Christian".
Such are their fantasies, say: "Bring your proof, if you are
truthful." |
|
|
112- |
Yes, whoever submits himself whole heartedly
to God, is a Muslim
and he keeps on doing good deeds, his rewards are by his Lord,
no fear shall be upon them and they shall not be sad and
grieving. |
|
|
113- |
The Jews said: "the Christians stand on
nothing (solid)"
and the Christians said" The Jews stand on nothing firm", though
they read the Scriptures.
Similarly people who have no knowledge (of God's Books) have
said same things.
At the end, God will judge between them on the Judgment Day in matters in which they
have differences of opinions. |
|
|
114- |
And who is more unjust than he who forbids
the mosques of God, to prevent that His Name
would be mentioned and be remembered in it and has even made
efforts to destroy it (mosque)?.
Such people don't deserve to enter a mosque, except with fear
(of defense and retaliation by Muslim believers).
For them, there will be disgrace and humiliation in this world
and a great punishment in the Hereafter. 18 |
|
|
115- |
To God belongs the East and The West, so
whichever direction you turn into,
there is the presence of God (The Ever-present).
Behold God is All-Embracing, All-Knowing."
19 |
|
|
116- |
They (the Christians and others before them)
said: "God has taken a son for Himself."
He is beyond these matters, all Glory be to Him,
but whatever is in heavens and earth, belong to Him; all are
obedient to Him. 20 |
|
|
117- |
He is the Originator of heavens and earth and
whenever He decrees a matter to be, soon as He says for it to:
"Be";
it is immediately existent. |
|
|
118- |
And those who have no knowledge (of The
Truth) said:
"Why does God not speak to us (face to face)
or why does a miracle not come to us?",
So said people before
them, similar to their words,
as their hearts are much alike.
We indeed have made plain the signs (of God's creation) and the
Verses (of God's messages)
for people who believe in certainty. |
|
|
119- |
We have sent you (Muhammad) for declaration
of Truth, as a bringer of good news (to good people)
and a warner (to evil people) and you (Muhammad) won't be
questioned (held responsible)
about the (future) inhabitants of
Hellfire. |

|
120- |
Never will the Jews nor the Christians will
be pleased with you (Muhammad) until you agree and follow their
creed.
Say (to them): "The Guidance of God is The real Guidance!" (not
people's versions of beliefs)
and if you follow their baseless desires after all that has come
to you of knowledge of Truth (from God),
then there will be neither any protector nor helper from God for
you (you will lose the protection and help from God). |
|
|
121- |
Those whom We gave the Book and they read it
carefully as they should,
they will come to believe in it (The Quran) and whoever
disbelieves and rejects it, those are the real losers .
21 |

|
|
122- |
O children of Israel, remember My blessings
that I favored upon you and preferred you (with number of
prophet and guidance)
to the rest of people (of your time, in the past). |

|
|
123- |
And have in mind fear of The Day (of
Judgment) when no person shall avail another person,
nor shall any bail or compensation be accepted nor any
intercession shall help the disbelievers,
nor shall they be helped in any way.
22 |

|
124- |
And (remember) when The Lord of Abraham
tested him with certain commands, which he fulfilled completely.
God said: "I intend to appoint you as an Imam (leader) for
mankind".
Abraham said: "And also leaders from my off springs?"
God said: "My covenant (promise) for prophethood does not grace
and does not include the oppressors and polytheists". 23 |

125- |
And (remember) when We made the House (of
worship, Kaaba in Mecca),
a place of assembly for people of the world and a place of
safety as a place for your prayer
(during the pilgrimage ritual of Hajj) and take a place to pray
near the station were Abraham prayed and remember
Our Decree to Abraham
and Ishmael that:
"You should cleanse My House and keep it clean for people who
are going around it
and those who are staying there for meditation and those bowing
and prostrating to God in prayers." |

|
|
126- |
Also (remember) when Abraham said: "My lord,
make this town a safe place and provide for its population,
those who believe in One God and the Day of Hereafter, with a
variety of fruits and produce."
God said: "I shall also provide for a little while (during their
life time on earth), even for the disbelievers to enjoy the
life,
but then ultimately, I shall force them towards the punishment
of Hellfire and that destination is really bad." |
|
|
127- |
And (remember) when Abraham and (his son)
Ishmael were raising the foundations
of The House (of worship, the Kaaba in Mecca), saying:
"Our Lord, accept this service from us, as You are All-Hearing,
All- Knowing", |
|
|
128- |
"Our Lord, please make us and also our future
generations to be obedient and submissive to You (Muslims)
and show us the ways of worship to You (the ceremonies of
pilgrimage to this House-Hajj)
and accept our repentance with Your Mercy,
since You are truly The One, who accepts so often apology, and
You are the Most Merciful". |
|
|
129- |
"Our Lord, raise up amongst them (our
offsprings), a messenger, who shall read to them Your Verses of
Revelation
and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them (in character
and beliefs),
as You are truly The All-Mighty, All-Wise". |
|
|
130- |
And who turns away from Abraham's ideology
(of belief in the One God) except those who would make a fool of
themselves?
Since We chose him in this world (to be a role model and a
prophet)
and of course in the Hereafter, he will be among the righteous
people. |
|
|
131- |
When his Lord told him: "Submit (to My
words)"
He said: "I have submitted to The Lord of the worlds". |
|
|
132- |
And Abraham as well as Jacob advised
this (attitude of Submission to The One God, which is the
definition of Islam)
to their sons, saying: "O' my sons, God has chosen for you the
real Faith
(of Islam, submission to The One God only),
therefore don't die unless you are Muslims". |
|
|
133- |
Or (at another occasion) were you witnesses,
when death got near Jacob?
When he said to his sons: "What would you be worshiping after
me?"
they said: "We shall worship your God, the same God of your
forefather Abraham,
and Ishmael and Isaac, the Only One God, and to Him we submit
(in Islam) our whole beings". |
|
|
134- |
That was a nation (of faithful people) who
passed away;
they shall receive what they had earned by their deeds and you
will receive what you have earned,
and you won't be asked (or held responsible) for what they used
to do. |
|
|
135- |
Some people said: "Be Jewish or Christian, so
that you may be guided."
Say (O' Muhammad): " No, but follow the creed and ideology of
Abraham,
the correct faith (of believing and submitting to the One God,
Islam)
and he never was one of those people who worship others beside
God." |
|
|
136- |
Say: "We believe in the One God and the
Messages, which were sent down to us
and which were sent down to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and
Jacob and Al Asbat (the off springs of Jacob)
and that which was given to Moses and Jesus and that which was
given to other prophets from their Lord;
we don't make any distinction between any one of them
(as they all said the same message; to worship only The One God)
and to Him we submit our whole existence". |
|
|
137- |
So if they believe in the like of what you
came to believe (in the One God), then they are also guided
correctly
and if they turn away (from this kind of belief) then they are
of course in opposition,
so God will help you enough against their offenses, and He is
the All-Hearer, All-Knowing. |
|
|
138- |
"This is the beautiful color and appearance
of the religion of God
and who can make a better appearance and quality of faith than
God
and we only worship Him (not anyone else)."
24 |
|
|
139- |
Say: "Are you disputing with us about the One
God, whereas He is our Lord and your Lord
and we are responsible for our deeds and behavior and you for
your own deeds
and we are sincere in worshipping Him alone." |
|
|
140- |
"Or do you claim that Abraham and Ishmael and
Isaac and Jacob and Asbat (the prophets from offsprings of
Jacob)
were Jewish or Christians?"
Say: "Do you know better or God?
And who is more unjust than the person who hides the
information-testimony that is available to him from God,
(in the previous Books of Revelations about the previous prophets and the news about the coming
prophet Muhammad)
and certainly God is not unaware of what you are doing".
25 |
|
|
141- |
"(At last), those were folks that passed
away, they are responsible for what they earned by their deeds
and you are responsible for what you have earned by your deeds
and you won't be questioned (or held responsible) for what they
had been doing." |
|
|
142- |
The fools among the people would say: "What
made them (the Muslims) turn from their Qiblah (direction of
prayer)
which they were facing before ."
Say: "East and west all belong to God (He decides in which
direction you should stand for prayer),
He guides whomever He wants to the straight correct way."
26 |
|
|
143- |
And thus We made you a nation of moderation,
so that you would be exemplary role models for people of the world
and the prophet being your exemplary role model
and the only reason We made the direction of prayer which you
were facing
to test and distinguish those who really follow the messenger
(Muhammad)
from those who turn back on their hells (and disobey);
indeed it was very difficult (for them to accept the change of
direction of prayer) but not for those whom God has guided,
and God never disregards your faith (and your prayers),
as God is truly Most Kind and Most Merciful to good people.
|
|
|
144- |
Certainly We see the turning of your face
towards the heaven,
now We are turning you to a Qiblah (prayer direction) that shall
please you,
so turn your face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque (at
Mecca)
and wherever you might be, turn your face (at prayer) in that
direction
and those who were given the knowledge of The Book (of previous
revelations),
know well that the command of God (for turning your face towards
The Sacred Mosque)
is the truth from their Lord and God is not unaware of what they
are doing (hiding the truth) 27 |
|
|
145- |
And even if you were to bring to people who
were given Scripture before (Jews and Christians)
all the evidence and proof (from their own Books), they would
not follow your Qiblah (prayer direction),
nor are you going to follow their prayer direction
and even they don't follow each other's prayer direction
and of course if you follow their vain desires after all the
knowledge that has come to you (from God),
then indeed you would be one of the unjust people as well.
|
|
|
146- |
Those to whom We gave the (earlier)
Book-Scriptures recognize him (The prophet Muhammad)
as well as they recognize their sons and
indeed a number of them are certainly hiding the truth and
evidence
(of prophethood of Muhammad) mentioned in their scriptures)
while they know it. |
|
|
147- |
(This is) The Truth from your Lord and don't
be one of the doubters. |
|
|
148- |
Everyone has a direction to which he turns
(in prayers),
so (instead of disputing about directions,) compete in doing
good things for the society,
as wherever (or in which direction) you might be,
God will gather you all together (on one direction, on the
Judgment Day),
Indeed, God is Capable over all matters. |
|
|
149- |
And from whichever place you come, turn your
face (during prayer) towards The Sacred Mosque (in Mecca)
and it (this command) is indeed the truth from your Lord
and (know that) God is not unaware of what you do. |
|
|
150- |
And from wherever you come, turn your face
(in prayers) towards The Sacred Mosque
and also wherever you may be, turn your face towards it,
so that people should have no argument against you (should know
that you are Muslims)
except of course the wrong and unjust people (who any way will
have something against you),
so don't fear them, but have fear of Me (that you won't disobey
My Commands).
And that (by your obedience) I may complete My Blessings upon
you and that you might be guided correctly. |
|
|
151- |
As We have sent among you a Messenger of your
own (Muhammad) to read to you Our Verses (of Quran)
and cleanse you (physically and spiritually) and teach you the
Book and wisdom (thinking and behaving correctly)
and teach you things that you did not know yet. |
|
|
152- |
Therefore remember me, I will have you in My
Mercy,
and be grateful to Me (for all that I gave you) and don't
be ungrateful. |
|
153- |
O you who believe, seek help (from God) by
patience (in difficulties) and by prayer.
Truly God is with patient people. |
|
|
154- |
And don't call those are killed in the way of
God, as "Dead people",
because they are alive (with their Lord) but you do not sense it |
|
|
155- |
And certainly, We shall test you (in your
lifetime) with such things as
fear, hunger, loss and decrease of wealth and lives and fruits
of (labor and) harvests,
but give good news to the patient persons, |
|
|
156- |
who, when struck with any loss, say:
"We really belong to God and certainly we shall return to Him
(into His Custody)". |
|
|
157- |
Those are the people, on whom there will be
Blessings and Mercy of their Lord
and those are the people who are guided (correctly on how to
handle difficult situations). |
|
|
158- |
Behold, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols
(to emphasize worship) to God (not idols, as it was used before
Muhammad),
therefore whoever makes the pilgrimage (Hajj) to the House (of
worship)
or performs the Umrah (the shorter version of Hajj), will have
no blame to go around both of those hills (Safa and Marwah)
and for whoever does good (for God's sake) voluntarily,
then (should know) that God is truly the Appreciative, the
All-Aware. 28 |
|
|
159- |
Certainly those who hide what We have
revealed of evidences and clarifications for guidance,
after We clarified it for people in the Book , those are the
ones whom God curses (keeps away from His Mercy)
and also all entities who curse, shall curse them.
29 |
|
|
160- |
Except those who repent to God and improve
and correct (themselves and the damage they have done)
and make clear (the truth that they were hiding),
to these, I turn mercifully and I am Very Accepting of
repentance and Most Merciful to good people. |
|
|
161- |
Certainly those who reject the faith and die
while they are unbelievers,
upon them shall be the curse of God and angels and all the
people (in the Hereafter) |
|
|
162- |
Remaining in that (hopeless) situation
forever, the
suffering shall not be lightened for them,
nor shall they be allowed any wait or delay or rest (from
suffering), nor shall they be looked upon (kindly). |
|
|
163- |
(You must know) that your God is One God
and there is no one worthy of worship except
the One who is the Most Gracious to all
and Most Merciful
especially to good people. |
|
|
164- |
Truly in the study of the creation of heavens
and earth and of the alternation of night and day
and the sailing of ships on the sea that profits mankind
and the water that God sends down from the sky and brings to
life the dead barren land,
causing spread of all kinds of animals on it
and in the changes
of blowing of winds
and clouds held between the sky and earth,
there are many evident signs (of God's Might) for people who use
their reasoning. |
|
|
165- |
Yet from among people, there are those who
take (such as icons or idols) as subjects of worship, other than
God alone,
they love those things as much as they like God;
but people who believe (in the One God), have their most intense
love for God.
And if people who unjustly have other gods, could see what they
will see as punishment (in the Hereafter)
realize that all Power belongs to God and that God is severe in
punishment (of idol worshippers)! |
|
|
166- |
(And if they could see) the moment when those
who were followed
(as priests and leaders of false beliefs and unjust
governments),
turn away themselves from those who followed them
and they see the punishment and their ties
and means of communication are cut off. |
|
|
167- |
And those followers would say: "If there were
another chance for us (to go back to the world),
then we would also disregard and turn away from them, just as
they disregarded and turned away from us."
In such a way, God will show them the results of their behavior;
bitter regrets shall dominate them and they can never get out of
Hell fire
(their own false beliefs and bad personalities they had in the
world,
will be the source of perpetual fuel for their bitter regrets,
in which they will keep burning). |
|
|
168- |
O people of the world, eat what is on earth
lawful (clean) and good
and do not follow the footsteps of Satan, since he is surely a
real enemy to you. |
|
|
169- |
Behold, he (Satan) encourages and orders you
to do evil and indecent acts
and that you should say things about God that you don't know.
|
|
|
170- |
And when they are told: "Follow what God has
sent down" (as guidance),
they say: "No, we will follow what we found our fathers were
following."
even though their fathers had no reasoning whatsoever and had no
good guidance. |
|
|
171- |
And the example of those who reject Faith is
similar as if one shouts to a bunch of people (like sheep)
who hear no more than calls or cries; (they behave as) deaf,
dumb and blind ,
therefore they cannot understand or reason. (They simply imitate
their ancestor's faith, like a herd of animals.) |
|
|
172- |
O you who believe (in One God), eat of the
lawful clean foods that We have provided you with
and thank God (for all the goodies), if you tend to worship Him. |
|
|
173- |
Of course He has forbidden you only the
(eating) of dead animals
(which died of natural causes or fell from height or were killed
and eaten partially by beasts,
or suffocated and were not properly slaughtered),
and blood and the swine meat (pork) and whatever animal that was
slaughtered
in the name of any other than in the Name of God. (Such as
sacrifices to idols).
But when someone is forced (by necessity and lack of any other
food) without desiring or intention of disobeying
(God's commands and limits,) to eat of such meat, that eating
will not be counted as a sin against him,
as God is Very Forgiving and Especially Merciful to good people.
|
|
|
174- |
Those who hide parts of the truths of The
Books that God sent down
and sell it for a small price (of worldly gain, such as priest
hood, fame, influence, etc),
they eat with that price nothing but Fire that they put in their
bellies
and God will not speak to them on The Resurrection (Judgment)
Day,
nor will He cleanse them (of those sins they committed) and they
will have a painful punishment. |
|
|
175- |
Those are the kind of people who have bought
error at the price of guidance
and suffering at the price of Forgiveness (of God),
so what makes them think they can tolerate the Hell fire?!
|
|
|
176- |
That (punishment) is because God certainly
sent down The Book (for clarifying) in Truth
and those who dispute The Book, are far in opposition (to Truth
which was sent down by God)
and a major source of split in the society and in the future generation |

177- |
Righteousness is not just by turning your
face in the direction of east or west,
but true righteousness is:
when a person believes in the One God,
and the Day of Judgment (the life in the Hereafter)
and believes in angels
and the Book
and the prophets,
and spends for the love of God, even though he likes his wealth,
to relatives, orphans, the poor,
those stranded (with no fund)
and those who ask (for help)
and
to free slaves
and maintains regular prayers and pays Zakat (which is basically
paying for helping poor people)
and they keep and fulfill their promises
and are patient in difficult and bad situations,
and injuries and losses and during severe fighting (in defensive
battles);
these kind of people are truthful people (not those who just
talk)
and those are the real pious God-conscious ones. |
|
|
178- |
O you who believe, the law of retaliation is
ordered for you in the case of a murder:
The free man (who committed the murder), the same freeman should
be held responsible,
the same slave who committed the murder should be held
responsible,
likewise the same female who committed the crime, should be held
responsible, ,
but if the killer is forgiven by his brother (in faith or next
of kin of the victim),
then fairness shall be considered and payment of blood-money
should be made with kindness;
this is a way to reduce damage to society.
This is a decree for reducing damage by your Lord from His
Mercy.
But then after this regulation, whoever crosses the limit
(of retaliation, for example kills the killer after agreeing for
blood-money or kills any relatives of the murderer),
then he shall have a painful punishment. |
|
|
179- |
O people of understanding (you should be
aware) that in the law of retaliation, there is (intended saving
of) life for you
so that you may become pious and God-fearing.
(To be God-conscious and not to kill each other the way you
please.) |
|
|
180- |
It is ordered for you, when death seems
getting close to any of you, that he leaves a good will
on the wealth for the parents and near relatives in a nice and
fair manner;
this is a duty on the pious people. |
|
|
181- |
Then whoever changes the content of the will,
after hearing it,
the sin for doing it, directly rest upon those who change it
(the will).
Certainly, God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. |
|
|
182- |
But then, when one fears injustice or a sin
in the will of the person who made it,
then tries to make peace and agreement among them (those who
inherit),
there shall be no sin on him (when he or she makes the necessary
corrections),
surely God is Very Forgiving, Most-Merciful (to good people).
|
|
|
183- |
O you who have faith, fasting is ordained for
you, as it was ordered for people before you,
so that (by fasting), you may become more God-conscious, pious
and guard yourself against evil habits |
|
|
184- |
Fast for a certain number of days, but then
whoever among you is sick or on a journey,
then he should fast the same number of days (that he missed)
later on,
As for those who can hardly fast (such as old people),
they make good instead by feeding a needy
and whoever volunteers to do more good, it is better for him,
and if you do fast, it is better for you, if you just know (the
benefits of fasting). |
|
185- |
The fasting should be in the (lunar) month of
Ramadan,
during which the Quran was sent down as a guidance for mankind
and with clarifying points of guidance and as a distinction
(between right and wrong),
therefore any one of you who is present (in his hometown) in
that month, must fast during that month,
and if someone is sick or on a journey, he or she must fast same
number of days during another month.
God intends easiness for you and does not want hardship for you
and he wants you to complete the same number of days (of
fasting) and to glorify God (appreciate His Greatness)
for having you guided and that you may thank Him (for the
blessings). |
|
|
186- |
And when My servants ask you (Muhammad) about
Me, (tell them) that I am indeed Near to everyone.
I respond to the call of any caller who calls on me.
Therefore, they should also listen and respond to My Guidance
and believe in Me,
so that they may progress in being guided. |
|
|
187- |
It was made lawful for you to have sex with
your wives during the night after the fasting day.
They are as a garment (of shield, protection and comfort) for
you and you are as a garment for them as well.
God knew that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned on
you with Mercy and forgave you.
So from now on, have relations with them and seek what God has
(allowed,) prescribed for you
and eat and drink (during the nights after the fasting) till the
white thread (line of light)
of down appears to you from the black line of darkness (in the
horizon of the east),
then start your fasting and complete your fast till nightfall.
And do not have any sexual relations with your wives while you
are spending time in prayers
and meditation in a mosque; these are the limits set by God,
so don't get even close to the limit (in such circumstance, to
possibly violate the limit).
This way, God makes clear His signs and rules for mankind,
so that they may be pious (God-conscious) in their behavior.
|
|
|
188- |
And do not eat up each others property
illegally,
nor give any bribe to rulers or Judges so that you may eat up
wrongfully a part of property of others while you know
(that it is wrong and sinful). |
|
|
189- |
They ask concerning the new moons; say:
"They are for appointment times and dates for people and (to
know the time of) Hajj pilgrimage.
It is not right that you come into the houses from the back (as
it was used by pagans before, during their idol pilgrimage)
but it is right that one is God-conscious and pious.
So enter the houses through their proper doors and have fear
(from disobeying) God,
so that you may be successful and happy. |
|
|
190- |
And fight in the way and cause of God, (in
defense with) those who came to fight you,
but do not be aggressive (don't commit aggression, do not start
wars) because God does not like aggressors. |
|
|
191- |
And kill them (who attacked you) wherever you
find them and drive them away from where they drove you away.
And persecution and torture is even worse than the killing (they
do).
And do not fight them at The Sacred Mosque (in Mecca) unless
they (first start to) fight you there.
But if they attacked you, then kill them. Such shall be the
retaliation against the disbelievers (who attack you). |
|
|
192- |
But if they stop, them God is Very Forgiving,
the Most Merciful (to good people) |
|
|
193- |
And fight them until there is no more
persecution and the religion shall be for God alone.
But if they stop hostilities, then there should be no hostility
except against the oppressors (aggressors). |
|
|
194- |
The (consideration of no fighting in the)
sacred month is for reason of
(that the enemy does not take advantage and attack you in) that
secret month
and as for all sacred considerations, there is the law of
retaliation.
Therefore whoever commits aggression against you, attack him
just as he attacked against you
and be God-conscious (and respect the limits of defense
and do not commit cruelty on innocent people)
and know that God is truly with those who practice
self-restraint (control themselves, even is battles).
30 |
|
|
195- |
And spend in the cause of God (for purchasing
and obtaining weapons for self-defense)
and do not throw yourselves into destruction (by not spending
for defense)
and do good (for the society), since God truly loves people who
do good. |
|
|
196- |
And perform completely the Hajj (pilgrimage
to Mecca) and Umrah (the shorter version of pilgrimage)
for the sake of worship to God;
but if you are prevented (to complete it), then send an offering
for sacrifice (such as a sheep or other animal)
such as you can afford easily and do not shave your head
(perform that ritual at the end of the pilgrimage rites)
till the offering (of the animal) reaches the place of
sacrifice.
But if anyone of you is ill or has an ailment in his head
(scalp, necessitating earlier shaving),
then in compensation, he must fast or give in charity or offer a
sacrifice (of one sheep).
Then if you are safe, whoever wishes to combine and complete Umrah
to Hajj,
then he must make an offering (a sheep or other animal) such as
he can afford easily,
but if he cannot find or afford it, he should fast three days
during the period of Hajj
and seven days after you return (home from pilgrimage); that
makes ten days complete.
This is for people whose family members do not live near The
Sacred Mosque,
and be God-conscious (fear disobeying God) and know that God is
severe in punishment. |
|
|
197- |
Hajj pilgrimage is in certain specified
months,
so whoever intend to perform Hajj in those months, then (by
starting the "Ihram" = the ritual),
the pilgrim should not have any sexual relation, nor commit sin,
nor do any quarreling during the Hajj,
and whatever good you do, God knows it, so take provision (with
you)
and of course the best provision (for your life in the
Hereafter) is God-awareness
and be aware and conscious of Me (avoid disobeying Me) O people
of understanding. |
|
|
198- |
It is no sin for you to seek generosity
(income) from your Lord
(by providing service or by trade during the pilgrimage),
then when you leave (the location of) Arafat (during your
pilgrimage journey),
remember God (by prayers and thanks) at the location of Mash'ar-il-Haram,
and remember Him (thankfully) for He has guided you, since
before that, (before Islam) you were lost in wrong beliefs. |
|
|
199- |
Then depart from the place, from which the
people (pilgrims) depart and ask God for forgiveness.
Truly God is Very Forgiving, Most-Merciful (to good people). |
|
|
200- |
So when you performed your rituals, remember
God as you remember your father or with even more concentration.
Some people would say:" Our Lord, give us (things) in this
world". (don't care about the Hereafter life)
for someone like this, there won't be anything good in the
Hereafter (he did not ask for it). |
|
|
201- |
But there are some who say:
"Our Lord, give us goodness in this world and goodness in the
Hereafter and save us from the suffering of Fire". |
|
|
202- |
These people shall have a good share of what
they have earned (from their behavior in this world),
and God is Swift at reckoning. |
|
|
203- |
And remember God (frequently by praising Him)
during the specific appointed days (11,12 & 13th of the month of
pilgrimage),
but then if someone is in a hurry (to leave) and performs that
duty in two days (instead of three days),
there is no sin against him, and if the person extends the stay,
there is no sin against him either,
provided he does his duty piously (with God-consciousness),
and be God-conscious, avoiding disobedience to God
and know that
you certainly be all gathered to Him (in the Judgment Day). |
|
|
204- |
From among people, there is one whose speech
may please you concerning the life of this world
and he (even) would swear to God as to what is in his heart (so
as to deceive you);
yet he is the most skilled and determined of the enemies (to you
and your religion). |
|
|
205- |
And when he turns away from you, he strives
to prevail (in authority and government),
and he makes efforts in the land to cause corruption and
mischief in it and tries to destroy agriculture (plants),
animals and people and God does not like any mischief. |
|
|
206- |
And when he is told:" Have fear of God",
his arrogance drives him to (more) crime.
Therefore he deserves only Hell which is an evil resting place
indeed. |
|
|
207- |
And (yet) among people there is the one who
sells his soul (to God), seeking acceptance from God
and of course God is Very Kind to His good servants.
31 |
|
|
208- |
O people of Faith, enter all of you in the
peace of Islam (obeying God)
and do not follow the footsteps of
Satan
(by doing evil and hating each other), as he is your obvious
enemy. |
|
|
209- |
But if you slide backwards (into disbelief
and animosity),
after clear explanatory Revelations have come to you,
beware that God is The All-Mighty Invincible, The All Wise
Commander. |
|
|
210- |
Do they (the disbelievers) expect anything
other than that God
and also the angels should come to appear to them from the
shadows of clouds
and then the matter of faith would be decided and judged?
Whereas all matters come back to God (for judgment)
32 |
|
|
211- |
Ask the Children if Israel how many clear
signs (of guidance) We gave them.
And whoever changes the blessings (Verses of Revelation)
of God after it has come to him,
then (must know that) God is severe in retaliation.
33 |
|
|
212- |
The life of this world for the disbelievers
seems (must be) attractive
and they make fun of the believers (who live modestly),
but (they don't understand that) those pious people shall be
above them in The Day of Judgmet (after this life)
and God provides of His blessings (in Paradise) to whomever He
wants without measure (everlasting generous favors). |
|
|
213- |
(Early on) Mankind were one community,
then later on, God raised messengers as proclaimers of good news
(for the good people) and as warners (to bad people)
and He sent down with them revelation books (for people to live)
by truth,
so that it (each book) might judge between people in matters in which they
had differences of opinions
and none were against it (The Scripture), except the very people
to whom it was given,
after clear arguments and proofs had come to them, out of revolt
and hatred, against each other.
Then God guided by His Will, the believers regarding the matters
in which people had differed about the truth
and God guides whomever He wants to the straight direction (of
action). |
|
|
214- |
Do you count on entering Paradise without
being touched by the hardships which were endured by people
who passed on before you?
They were also hit by suffering and difficulties and were so
shaken that
even the messenger and those who were believers with him said:
"When will God's help arrive?".
Yes, certainly the help of God is near. |
|
|
215- |
They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should
spend (for the sake of God);
say:" Whatever you spend of good (items, moral and spiritual
support),
for parents, relatives, the orphans, the poor and the stranded
traveler
and whatever you do of good deeds,
certainly God is All-Aware of it." |
|
|
216- |
Fighting (in cause of God, in defense) is
ordained for you (Muslims), though it is unpleasant for you.
And yet it may happen that you dislike something that is good
for you
and that you love something that is trouble against you.
God Knows (everything) and you do not know.
34 |
|
|
217- |
(O Muhammad) They ask you concerning the
sacred month, about fighting during that month.
Say: "Fighting in it is a grave (sin) but a graver
offense is to bar people from following the way of God,
disbelief in Him
and to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque (at Mecca)
and to drive its people out of it
and persecution and oppression
is a greater harm (to the society)
than killing and fighting (the
oppression),
and the disbelievers will not stop fighting you until they would
make you turn away from your religion
(of monotheism = believing in One God), if they could.
And whoever turns back from his religion and dies disbelieving,
such are those whose (pervious good) deeds
will be wiped off in this world and in the Hereafter
and they will be inhabitants of The Fire (of Hell), wherein they
shall dwell forever". |
|
|
218- |
Certainly those who have believed and those
who emigrated (for the cause of God)
and struggled in the way
and cause of God, these are the ones who (can) hope for the mercy
of God;
as God is Very Forgiving, Most-Merciful (to good people). |
|
|
219- |
They ask about intoxicants (drinks) and
gambling, say:
"There is grave sin in both of them and yet some
benefits for people, but their sinful harm is greater than their
benefit".
They also ask you what they should spend (in charity),
say: "Whatever is left after spending for your needs".
These God makes the Verses
clear for you to think about them. |
|
|
220- |
(Think about it) In this world and the
Hereafter.
They ask you regarding orphans. Say: "The best thing
is to take care of their affairs correctly
and if you become
partners with them (as a result of death of their parents) then
treat them as your brothers
and God knows the one who is a
mischief-maker and is corrupt from the one who corrects matters
and is a peace-maker.
And if God wills, He
could certainly give you hard times
and God is of course
All-mighty Invincible and All-Wise Commander." |
|
|
221- |
And do not marry idolatresses (those
women who believe in more than One God or are idol worshippers),
till they come to believe (in only One God)
and a God-believing
slave woman is superior to a (free) idolatress, even if she
would please or dazzle you.
And don't let your female family
members marry idol-worshippers (or those who believe in partners
to God)
till they come to believe (in The Only One God)
and
certainly a believing slave is superior to a (free) idol
worshipper, even though he may please you.
Those kind of people
invite you to (idol worship and) Fire,
while God invites (people) to Paradise and to Forgiveness by His
Permission (His Grace)
but He (God) makes clear His
Verses (lessons of Revelations) clear to mankind so that they
may pay attention. |
|
|
222- |
They ask you about the menstruation
(monthly bleeding).
Say: "That is harmful (to have sex during
the menstruation);
so avoid (intercourse with) women during
their menstruation
and do not approach them till they be
cleansed (from bleeding).
And when they have purified (cleansed)
themselves, then go on to them by the (natural) route that God
has ordained for you".
Certainly,
God loves those who often turn to Him
and
God loves those who cleanse (and wash) themselves (before
prayer) and cleanse themselves (from bad habits). |
|
|
223- |
Your wives are meant to be location of
reproduction for you,
so come onto your reproduction site as you wish
and go forward (to produce good children) for your
future.
And be God-conscious (avoid mistreatment and misuse of
women)
and be aware that you all will certainly meet Him (in the
Hereafter for reckoning)
and give good news to the believers. |
|
|
224- |
And do not use (The Name of) God, as a
front for your swearing (by Him) as an excuse for you from doing
good
and being pious and making peace among people; and God is
All-Hearing and All-knowing. |
|
|
225- |
God will not hold you liable for you
unintentional oaths,
but will hold you responsible for acts that
your hearts intended and produced.
And God is Very Forgiving,
Tolerant. |
|
|
226- |
For those who swear to abstain from (sex
with) their wives, there shall be a waiting period of four
months.
Then if they (change their mind and) return, certainly
God is Very Forgiving, Most Merciful. |
|
|
227- |
And if they decide on divorce, then
(they must take into account that)
God is All-Hearing,
All-Knowing (of their behavior) |
|
|
228- |
And the divorced women should wait
regarding themselves (not marrying anyone else) for three
menstrual periods
and it is not allowable for them to hide what
God has created in their wombs
(should not hide their being
pregnant), if they believe in God and in the other Life to come (Judgment
Day on).
And their husbands have priority to take them back in
that period if they intend in betterment of their relations.
And they (the women) have similar rights in fairness
as is upon themselves
and regarding men,
there is a degree over them (of additional superiority and
responsibility over women)
and God is the Almighty Invincible and
All-Wise Commander
(Who knows the strength and weaknesses of the
sexes). |
|
|
229- |
Divorce (is permissible) only twice (with the
possibility of return to marriage),
after that, either keep (them) in honor and fairness or let go
in kindness.
And it is not lawful (allowable) for you (men) to
take back of anything
(of the bridal money given to bride by the groom
at the time of marriage and anything else) that you gave them,
except if the couple fears that they would not be able to keep
up the limits set by God
(such as in case of incapacity of the
husband, who became sick or poor and the time of this divorce he
needs money himself).
And then if you
fear that they both cannot keep up the limits ordained by God
(for justice and fairness),
then there is no sin on either of them if the wife
gives back (part or all of the dowry) to get herself freed up
(from the wedlock).
These are limits set by God, so don't cross
them
and whoever goes beyond the rules of God, then such become
(willful) wrong-doers. |
|
|
230- |
And if a husband divorces his wife (for
the third time),
he is not allowed to remarry her after that,
until she marries another man
(completely).
Then if the other husband
divorces her, it is no sin for the two of them if they return to
each other to reunite,
provided they feel that they can keep up
the rules (of marriage) set by God.
These are the rules of God,
which He makes clear for people of knowledge and understanding. |
|
|
231- |
And when you have divorced women and
they have fulfilled their prescribed term of waiting period
(before remarrying),
then either keep them in a fair manner or
let them free in a fair and reasonable way and do not keep them
to harm them,
crossing (the limits of God by offending them) and
whoever commits such thing,
then he has harmed his own
personality (as well).
And do not take the Verses of Revelation
of God in contempt and mockery,
and remember God's blessings
upon you
and that which He has sent down to you of the Book (by way of the
Quran) and of wisdom, to advise you by that
and fear disobeying
God and know that God is All-Aware of everything. |
|
|
232- |
And when you divorce women and they have
reached their waiting period,
do not prevent them from
remarrying their (desired) husbands, when they agree between
themselves on a fair manner.
This instruction is given to
whomever of you who believes in God and the Afterlife;
that is
the more correct and pure way (of dealing with marriage and
divorce).
And of course God knows and you do not know (all the
reasons). |
|
|
233- |
And the mothers shall nurse their babies
for two complete years for those who desires to complete the
period of nursing
and on the father on whom the
child was born,
it is a duty to provide for their food and
clothing in a fair manner.
No person shall be forced to achieve
more than his or her capacity.
No harm shall be allowed to the mother,
nor to the father on account of their child
and the same applies
to the heir (if one parent dies).
But if they both decide to
wean by mutual agreement and consultation, then that is no sin
on them
and if you decide to look for a nursing foster mother
for your children,
it is no sin on you, as long as you pay (the
nursing mother) what you promised in a fair manner.
And (as
always) be mindful of God and be aware that God is Observant
whatever you do. |
|
|
234 |
And those of you who die and leave
widows, they should keep themselves (from marrying)
for four
months and ten days.
Then when they have completed their waiting
period, it is no sin for you (the relatives) in that which they do for
themselves
(finding a husband) in a fair manner, and
God is fully Aware of what you do. |
|
|
235- |
And there is no sin on you if you make
indirect proposal of marriage to such (widowed) women,
or keep
the intention or desire to your selves.
God knows that you will think of
them; but don't make any secret promise to them unless you speak
in fairness.
And do not decide on wedlock until the prescribed
waiting period is completed.
And know that God knows what is in
your minds, so beware of Him and know that God is Very Forgiving,
Tolerant. |
|
|
236- |
It is not a sin if (for some reason) you
divorce a woman while you have not yet touched her,
nor settled the payment of the dowry; yet provide for her,
for the rich
according his ability to provide and the poor according to his
means, a gift of reasonable amount;
that is a duty for those
who wish to do the right thing (to prevent animosity after
divorce). |
|
|
237- |
And if you divorce woman before have
touched her and after you indeed had determined the dowry on
her,
then pay one-half of what you had agreed upon,
unless she
agree to let go or he, the caretaker (in case of a retarded
woman)
who had the authority to approve the marriage.
And if you decide to forgive payment of the dowry, it is
nearer to God-consciousness,
and do not forget generosity among
yourselves.
Surely God is All-Observant of what you do. |
|
|
238- |
Guard and maintain the (five regular)
prayers, especially the middle (noon) prayer and stand humbly
before God. |
|
|
239- |
And if you fear (an enemy or other
obstacle) then pray on foot or while you are riding.
Then when you are in
safety, pray and remember God the way He has taught you
(by
instruction of Quran and through the prophet), that you did not
know before. |
|
|
240- |
And those of you who die and leave wives
behind, there should be a will to provide for their wives for
one year's maintenance
without expulsion (from their homes), but if
they leave on their own (to remarry for example)
then there is
no sin on you regarding what they do for themselves in a fair
manner;
and God is The All-mighty, All-Wise commander. |
|
|
241- |
And for the divorced women, there must
be a maintenance in a fair manner;
this is a duty on the pious
(who have divorced) |

242- |
This way, God explains His Verses for
you clearly so that you might understand and reason. |

|
|
243- |
Have you not considered the fate of
those (in the past) who fled their homes in thousands fearing
death
(trying to avoid defense of their homeland against invaders)?
Then God said to them: "Die!"
After they died, He brought them
back to life.
Truly God is Gracious and Generous to people, but
most people do not appreciate. 35 |

244- |
And you (Muslins) fight in the way of
God and be aware that God is All-Heaving, All-Knowing. |

|
|
245- |
And who is the one who (spends for defense and
helping the community, as if he) lends a useful nice loan to God ('s
cause)?
He will multiply it for Him many times
and God is The
One who in effect decreases or increases (your assets)
and unto
Him you will be returned (all in His custody). |

|
|
246- |
Have you not paid attention to the story
of a group of children of Israel, after Moses, when they told
their prophet:
"Appoint a king for us, so we will fight for the
cause of God."
He said: "Would you really keep from fighting,
even if it is ordained for you?"
They said: why should we not
fight for the cause of God
while we have been driven out of our
homes with (our families and) children.
But then when it was
ordered for them to fight, they turned away all except a few of
them;
and God is All-Aware of wrong-doers. |
|
|
247- |
Their prophet told them: "God has
appointed Saul for you as a king".
They said: "How could there
be a kingship for him over us?,
whereas we are more deserving
of kingship than he and he was not given plenty of wealth.
He said, God has chosen him over and above you and He has given
him vast knowledge
and physical strength and God gives of His kingdom to whomever He wants
and God is
Vast Giver of Authority, All-knowing. |
|
|
248- |
And their prophet said to them: "Truly
the sign of his kingship will be that a wooden box will come
to you,
in which there is a reassurance from your Lord and
remnants (of items) that the family of Moses
and the family of
Aaron left behind, the angels shall be carrying it.
In this,
indeed is a sign (from your Lord) for you, if you are true
believers". |

|
249- |
So when Saul marched out with the
troops, he said: Indeed God will try you by a river,
whoever
drinks from it, won't be the one of my supporters
and whoever tastes but just a handful (of it) well be
counted as one of my supporters.
But they all drank of it, except a few of them.
And when he
(Saul) and those believers with him crossed it (the river), they
said:
"We have no power and endurance today against Goliath and
his troops."
But those who were certain they would (at some time) meet God,
said:
"How often a small group has overcome a large group by
the Will and Permission of God",
and God is along with steadfast patient
persons. |
|
|
250- |
And when they faced Goliath and his
troops, they prayed:
"Our Lord, pour down upon us patience and
endurance
and make our steps steady and help us over the
disbelieving people." |
|
|
251- |
So they made them flee by the will of
God and David killed Goliath
and God gave him the kingship
(after Saul) together with wisdom and taught him of what He
willed.
And if God were not to repel some people by means of
other people, the earth would certainly be full of mischief,
but
God is Gracious to inhabitants of the worlds. |

These are the Verses of Revelation of
God that we read to you (Muhammad) in truth
and surely,
you are
one of the messengers (of God). |

About those messengers; We have gifted
(preferred) some of them over others.
From among them, there were some, to whom God
spoke directly and raised some of them to certain degrees
and We
gave to Jesus, son of Mary clear evidences and aided him by The
Holy spirit (Archangel Gabriel)
and if God had willed, people
after them and after clear evidences of guidance that had come
to them,
would not have fought (against each other, such as
Catholics vs. Protestants etc), but (God let them have free choice)
and they had differences of opinion and of them there were people who
believed and those who
disbelieved
and if God had willed, they would not (fight each
other), but (God let them have free choice) and
God does what He
decides. |

reject the faith are the true wrong-doers. |

Allah (God) is The One, there is none
worthy of worship except He,
Who is The Ever-living-Eternal, Ever-Present,,
neither time, slumber (dozing) nor sleep
overtakes Him.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and in the earth.
Who dares
intercede in His presence except with His permission?
He knows what happens (to all beings) and what will happen to
them in the future and happened in their past.
And they will never get awareness to any of His
knowledge except that which He would decide (for His creatures
to know).
His Dominion has extended the heavens
and the earth
and their upkeep
and preservation does not tire or fatigue Him,
as He is The Most
High, The Most Supreme. |

256- |
There shall be no coercion or forcing
anyone in matters of faith and religion.
Truly the path of
spiritual growth has become distinct from error.
Therefore
whoever rejects worshipping anything but God and believes in God,
then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will
never break,
and God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. |

257- |
God is The Guardian of those who
believe,
He brings them out of darknesses into The Light (of
Guidance).
But as regarding those who disbelieve and reject,
their supporters being false deities, their leaders and all other
subjects of worship,
they cause them to exit from light into the
darknesses (of falsehood).
Those are going to be the inhabitants
of Fire (in Hell), in which they will remain (forever). |

Have you not noticed the story of the
one who disputed with Abraham about his Lord?
Since God had
given him kingdom (and he became arrogant),
when Abraham said:
"My Lord is The One who gives life and causes death."
He (the
king) said: "I give life and cause death (withholding execution
of people or having to kill them).
Abraham then said: "In fact, God makes the sun rise from the
east, you try to make
it rise from the west".
Thereupon the one who was rejecting the
truth, became dumbfounded.
And God does not guide the evildoers. |
|
|
259- |
Or like the story of the one who passed
by a town which had tumbled upside down over its roots.
He said:
"How would God bring this ever to life after its death?!"
so God
caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him alive
again.
He (God) said: How long did you remain dead?"
He (the
man) said: "I remained dead one day or part of one day."
He
(God) said: "No, you remained dead for a hundred years.
Now look
at your food and drink, which did not age (or spoil),
also look
at your donkey ('s skeleton).
And so We make of you indeed an
example and sign (of Our Power) for mankind.
Now look at bones (of your donkey) how
We bring them together and cover them with flesh."
And then when
this was made clear to him, he said: "I know now that God truly
is Capable over anything." |
|
|
260- |
And remember when Abraham said: "My Lord, show me how you give life to the dead."
God said: "Don't you believe?"
He (Abraham) said: "Yes, but I want that my heart be
strong and certain in faith".
He (God) said: "Take four
different birds, teach them how to come to you, then after
slaughtering them into pieces,
place a portion of them on every
hill.
Then call them, they will come to you in a hurry.
And know
that God is The All-Mighty, All-Wise Commander". |
|
|
261- |
The example of those who spend their
wealth in the way of God,
is the likeness of a grain of corn,
that grows seven ears,
and in each ear there are hundred grains
and so God multiplies for whom He wills and God is The
Blessing-Increaser, All-knower. |
|
|
262- |
Those who spend their wealth in the
cause of God,
then do not follow what they gave, with reminders
of their generosity
or hurting (the feeling of the needy), shall
have their rewards by their Lord.
On them shall be no fear, nor
shall they grieve. |
|
|
263- |
Kind words (with the needy) and passing with
good demeanor
is better then charity followed
by hurting
(the person's feeling).
And God is Rich (free of all
needs), Most Forbearing (Tolerant) |
|
|
264- |
O' you who believe, do not invalidate
your charities with reminders of your generosity or by hurting
(the needy person's feeling), like the kind of person who spends his
wealth to show off to people,
but neither believes in God, nor in
the Last Day (of Judgment).
His likeness is like a smooth hard
rock over which, there is some dust (soil), a heavy rain hits it,
leaving it a bare stone
(on which nothing grows and) they, are not able to do anything
with what they have earned
(such seed will grow to nothing good in The Hereafter)
and God does not guide such disbelieving people. |
|
|
265- |
Also the likeness of those who spend
their wealth, seeking contentment (acceptance) by God
and for
certainty of their own being, is like a garden on a hilltop,
heavy rain falls on it
and the yield of its harvest doubles and
even if no heavy rain falls on it,
a gentle rain will also do
good and (know) that God is All-Observant on whatever you
achieve. |
|
|
266- |
Would anyone of you wish to have his
garden of date-palms and grape-vines, under which streams flow
and in which all kinds of fruits grow and while he is hit with
old age weakness
and his children are also unable to help, (in
this kind of situation),
a fiery whirl wind with fire would also strike
(the garden), so it be burns?
With this (example), God explains
His Verses of guidance to you clearly, so that you might give
thought to it
(do not destroy your good deeds with arrogance and
other bad behavior). |
|
|
267- |
O' you who believe, spend of the good and
pure things which you have earned lawfully
and of that
which We have produced for you from the earth (such as harvest
and profits of mines)
and do not plan to spend the bad (or
rotten) parts of it,
something that you yourselves would not
accept it, except if you had closed your eyes
and know that God
is Rich and Worthy of all praises (Who gave you all that). |
|
|
268- |
Satan threatens and scares you of
poverty (when you want to spend in the cause of God)
and orders
you to commit evil things (such as spending your money for
gambling and other evil acts),
while God promises you His Forgiveness and a special Blessing
and God is
the Blessings-Increaser and All-Knower. |
|
|
269- |
He grants wisdom to whom He wants and to
whomever (this blessing of) wisdom is granted,
is indeed being granted plenty
of great blessing.
But none except people capable of understanding can get the
meaning of this point. |
|
|
270- |
Whatever you spend in charity or
whatever vow (promise) you make (to spend for the sake of God),
of course God knows it and for the wrongdoers (who spend for
example in promiscuity or against God's religion),
there won't
be any helpers (in the Hereafter). |
|
|
271- |
If you give openly in charity, it is
good, but if you conceal it when you give to the poor people, it
is better for you
(as you are not showing off and the poor does
not feel ashamed),
and (for that) He (God) will cover off some of your
sins, and God is Well-Aware of what you do. |
|
|
272- |
Their guidance is not upon you
(Muhammad),
but God guides whom He wills (and he who wants to he
guided).
And whatever you spend in charity is for your own good
and truly you should not be giving except for seeking God's
acceptance
and (know that) whatever you spend (for the sake of
God) will be repaid and reflected to you
and you won't be
wronged at all. |
|
|
273- |
(Charity is) for the poor who became
restricted (in their capacity) while making efforts in the way
of God
and now have no means to travel or to make a living in the land.
The one, who does not know their situation, thinks they are rich
because of their self-control (from begging).
You may know and recognize them by their good image, they do not
beg of people at all
and whatever of good things and items you spend, certainly God
is All Aware of it. |
|
|
274- |
Those who spend their wealth (for the
sake of God) by night and by day, in secret and in public,
they
shall have their reward by their Lord. On them shall be no fear,
no shall they be sad. |
|
|
275- |
Those who (take and) eat usury, will not
stand (on The Judgment Day)
except like someone who was touched
by Satan, making him insane.
That is because they used to say:
"Trading is just like usury",
whereas God has allowed trading
and has forbidden usury.
So whoever receives the warning advice from his Lord (regarding
usury) and stops taking usury,
may keep what was in the past and his case shall be for God to
Judge;
but whoever returns (to usury),
those are the kind of people who
will be inhabitants of Fire (of Hell), remaining there forever.
|
|
|
276- |
God deprives usury of any blessing and
increases the benefits of charities
and God does not like any
ungrateful sinner. |
|
|
277- |
Certainly, those who believed and did
righteous deeds, keep up regular prayer and give Zakat
(which is
basically paying for helping poor people),
they will have their
reward by their Lord and they shall neither have fear nor grief. |
|
|
278- |
O, people of faith, beware of disobeying
God and give up what remains (due to you) from usury, if you are
real believers. |
|
|
279- |
And if you don't do it (don't give up
usury) then take notice of a war from God and His messenger.
But
if you repent (change your bad way of dealing), then you keep your
principals
and that way you don't cause injustice to the
borrowers and you won't be dealt unjustly either. |
|
|
280- |
And if the debtor (borrower) is having
hard time financially,
than allowing him till easier time arrives, is
recommended (for repayment of principal),
but if you give him the
principal in charity, that is even better for you, if you just
knew (its results and benefits). |
|
|
281- |
And be aware and conscious of the Day on
which you will be brought back to God (for judgment).
Then
every person shall be paid in full what he or she earned and none shall
be dealt with unjustly. |

|
|
282- |
O' you who believe, when you contract a
debt for a fixed term,
then write it down and let a scribe write
it down between you in justice.
And the scribe should not refuse
to write as God has thought him, he should write.
Let the debtor
dictate (the text of the contract), who incurs the debt
and he
must be God-conscious and should not diminish anything of what
he owes.
But if the debtor is weak mentally or physically and unable to
dictate himself,
then his guardian should dictate
justly and get two witness out of your men.
But if there are not
two men, then one man and two women, that you agree as witnesses,
so if one of the two women makes mistake, the other one will
remind the former.
And the witnesses should not refuse when they
are called upon (as evidence).
You should not become careless in
writing (the contact), be it small or large for its fixed term.
This is more just and fair with God and more solid as evidence
and more practical to prevent doubts among yourselves,
except
when it is a spot trade (hand to hand) which you give and take between
yourselves,
then it is no sin if you do not write it.
But take
witness when you make a commercial contract,
but don't let
either the scribe or the witness to be pressured or threatened and if
you do such thing,
then it will be counted as wickedness in you.
So be
conscious and afraid of disobeying God,
so God is teaching you (for being conscious of Him) and God is All-Knowing of
everything. |

283- |
And if you are on a journey and can not
find a scribe (and you can not write),
then take a pledge of
possession (mortgage),
then if one of you trusts the other, the
one who is entrusted, must fulfill his trust and give back the
object of trust
and be conscious of God, his Lord.
And do not
conceal the evidence and whoever hides it,
surely, his heart is
sinful and God is All-Knowing of whatever you do. |

284- |
To God belongs whatever is in heavens
and all that is in earth
and whether you disclose and present
what is in your heart or conceal it, God will account that on
you.
Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills
and
God is Able over all
things. |

285- |
The messenger (Muhammad) believes in
what has been sent down to him by his Lord and so do the
believers.
Each and every one believes in God, His Angels, His
Books and His Messengers,
(they said :) "We make no distinction
between any one of His Messengers"
and they say: "We heard and
obeyed (Your commandment O' Lord),
we seek your Forgiveness Our
Lord as to You shall be the return of all". |

286- |
God does not burden any person beyond
his or her capability.
Every person will get reward for (the good) he
or she has achieved
and will be punished for whatever evil he
or she had done.
(Say in prayer:) "Our Lord, do not punish us if
we forgot or made mistakes,
Our Lord, do not lay on us a burden like
that which you laid on those before us.
Our Lord, please do not
place a burden on us for which we do not have the strength to
carry it,
pardon us and grant us Forgiveness and have Mercy on
us.
You are our Guardian, so help us prevail over the
disbelieving people". |
Whatever we do on this earth, shall reflect to us in
Afterlife. The intolerable and painful regret with their misdeeds will
burn evil people forever and kindness to God's creation with humility in
following God's Guidance; will cause God-abiding people to be the truly
happy and smart winners! It is not how many expensive toys we have here
that count, but how much good deeds we have produced here and sent ahead
for the Future Success.

The inborn deeply seated impression and conscience in all humans that
they have a Creator, who created all and to Whom we are in awe!
Iblis was a servant of God for a long time; he was of the
Jinn's (entities created before humans, from ingredients (wavelengths)
of fire and not of the ingredients of earth (clay) as humans have been.
He was so good as to be amongst the angels at the service of God. He
then refused God's command as above and so he became evil (Satan).
While riding in a vehicle or on a mount, you can
pray in any direction feasible, as God is everywhere. Praying reminds
Muslims of the origin of Revelation to Muhammad and enforces Muslim
solidarity.
The story of God taking a son is not new. The
idolaters in old Greece and Rome believed in similar fancies and later
after Jesus, Paul, who used to kill Christians, claimed suddenly that
Jesus was son of God, whereas Jesus never claimed such thing. People
tend to exaggerate in their beliefs and elevate human mortals as God!!
What a pity!!
This
and another Verse (32:24) indicate clearly that the appointment of Imams
is by God. God tested Abraham many difficult tests to qualify him for
Imamat (True leadership of mankind). The unjust shall not be allowed to
lead, to misguide & to mislead. Only just knowledgeable persons should
lead
See foot notes of Verse 75 of this chapter 2.
It was mentioned from before that the prophet
Muhammad would pray in two directions in his lifetime. See old
Testament: Deuteronomy 18:15-18-19
This Verse was revealed after Jewish scholars who
were asked about reference in Torah about Muhammad's coming, concealed
the reality of the subject, but it also explains in general that hiding
the truth is harmful.

Several (4) lunar months are specially respected for engagement
in more worship and fighting is prohibited for that reason, except of
course if attacked
There
have always been people (the materialistic disbelievers) who said they
would not believe in anything expect if they would see it.

Refer to footnotes of Verse 74 of this chapter for explanation.

For comparison read old testament: Deuteronomy Chapter 7 (2-15) &
13 (19-15) & 20 (1-4), Exodus chapter 32 (27-29), Numbers, chapter 31
(1-12) Also in New Testament: Mathew, Chapter 10 / 34 & chapter 19 / 27
& chapter 22 / 36.

Historical reference to inhabitants of a town in the middle East
who evaded defensive battle, fleeing to desert. God wanted to let them
know that fleeing does not guarantee survival and security and that
defense is needed and must be provided for.
