Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
The Rocky Land - Chapter 15
|
Contains 99 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
Alif, Laam, Raa (From Allah = God to
Rasool = The Messenger):
These are the Verses of the Book and the Quran (a reading text) which
clarifies the truth. |
|
2- |
How much the
disbelievers would wish they were Muslims
(On the Day of Reckoning, and had submitted
their selves to God). |
|
3- |
Leave them to eat and enjoy and have excessive
desire to preoccupy them,
but ultimately (in the Hereafter) they
will find out the truth. |
|
4- |
And We did not destroyed any township, but
that there was a determined plan which was design for it
(and not
haphazardly). |
|
5- |
No nation which is to be perish, its appointed term can
neither be
advanced, nor can they postpone it. |
|
6- |
And they (The disbelievers) said: “O you
(Mohammad), to whom the Reminder (the Quran) is sent down,
you
are really a crazy man”. |
|
7- |
“Why don’t you bring us angels, if you are
being truthful?” |
|
8- |
We do not send angels down except for a
reason and in the case
(that they would have the duty to punish
the evil people,)
they (the evil people) would not be given a
chance (to escape). |
|
9- |
Indeed, We send down the Reminder (the Quran) and We are its Protector. |
|
10- |
And of course We did send (Messengers and
Reminders) into the previous groups of communities |
|
11- |
And never did a Messenger come to them
but that they made ridicule of him |
|
12- |
Thus We let (the Message) enter the
hearts of the sinners (to give them a chance to think about it). |
|
13- |
Yet they do not believe in it (in the
Message of God, the Quran)
and that was the way the
disbelievers of the past reacted (to the truth). |
|
14- |
And even if We would open a gate to the
sky for them to ascend through, |
|
15- |
They would surely say: “Our eyes have
been drugged and we have been bewitched."
1 |
|
16- |
And indeed We have arranged
constellations of stars in the sky and We made it so beautiful
for the star-gazers. |
|
17- |
And We have kept them in protection from
any outcast devilish being. |
|
18- |
Except when one who would try to gain
unauthorized hearing,
then such a being will be pursued by a fiery
shooting-star, which would be clear to see. |
|
19- |
And We have spread out the earth and
placed firm mountains in it
and We caused to grow on it all kinds
of things in proper balance and proportion. |
|
20- |
And We have provided in it means of living
for you and for creatures (animals, etc.)
which you do not provide food for them. |
|
21- |
And there is absolutely nothing except that its
source and stores belong to Us
and We do not dispense it except
in a measure, well-defined. |
|
22- |
And We send the winds, fertilizing (the
clouds in the sky and plants on earth),
then We make water pour
down from the sky to provide water for you to drink
and you are
not in charge of its storage (of the water cycle). |
|
|
23- |
And certainly We do give life and We
cause death and We remain after all have passed away. |
|
24- |
And indeed we have known all generations
(details of their lives) before you
and already know all who
will come after you. |
|
25- |
And certainly your Lord will gather them
together (on the Day of Judgment)
as indeed He is the All Wise, the All
Knowing. |
|
26- |
And indeed We created mankind from dried
clay of altered smelly mud. |
|
27- |
And the Jinn, We had it created before from
an intense smokeless fire (invisible waves). |
|
28- |
And remember when your Lord said to the
angels:
“I am going to create mankind from dried clay of
altered smelly mud.” |
|
29- |
Then after I fashioned him fully and blew
into him (his physical body) of the soul of my creation,
then you all bow down in prostration for Him.
(to God in prostration, to acknowledge his spectacular creation
by Him). |
|
30- |
So the angels bowed down in prostration all
together, |
|
31- |
Except Iblis (Satan) who refused to be
with those who bowed down in prostration.
2 |
|
32- |
God said: “O Iblis, what is the reason
that you are not among those who bowed down in prostration? " |
|
33- |
Iblis (Satan) said (in envy and
arrogance):
“I would never bow down for a human being, whom You
created from dried clay of altered smelly mud.” |
|
34- |
God said: “So get out from there (the
special status), for you are indeed an outcast,” |
|
35- |
And the Curse (deprivation of God’s
Grace) will be on you until the Day of Judgment”. |
|
36- |
(Satan) Iblis said: “O my Lord, then give
me the time and chance until the Day the dead will all be raised
again.” |
|
37- |
God said: “You are so given time,” |
|
38- |
“Until a Day of predetermined time.” |
|
39- |
Iblis (Satan) said: “O my Lord, because
You misled me,
I shall definitely make the path of errors seem
fair to them (the mankind) and I shall mislead them all together,” |
|
40- |
Except those of Your servants freed from
worldly binds who are devoted to you.” |
|
41- |
God said: “This is the Way, which is directly to
Me”. |
|
42- |
“In fact, you shall have
no authority and influence on My servants,
except on those who are astray and who would
follow you”. |
|
43- |
“And certainly Hell is the promised place
for them all”. |
|
44- |
It has seven gates, for each one of those
gates, a specific class of (sinners) is assigned (to enter).
3 |
|
45- |
“Truly the pious (God-conscious) persons
will be in the gardens and by the springs (in Paradise).” |
|
46- |
(They will be greeted by:) “Enter in
Paradise in peace and security”. |
|
47- |
And We shall remove from their chests any hard feelings (that they may have)
so they will be like brothers
facing each other, sitting on couches. |
|
48- |
No feeling of fatigue or burden or pain will
touch them and they shall never be asked to leave that place. |
|
49- |
(O Muhammad) Announce to My servants that
truly I am the One Who is the Very Forgiving, the Most Merciful
(to good people). |
|
50- |
And that My Punishment (to evil people)
is indeed the very painful torment. |
|
51- |
And tell them about the guests (angels who
visited
Abraham). |
|
52- |
When they entered his place and said:
“Salaam = Peace".
(Abraham) said: “We are indeed afraid of you.” |
|
53- |
They (the angels) said: “Don’t be afraid, we are indeed giving you good news about a son,
who will be very
knowledgeable.” |
|
54- |
(Abraham) said:
“Are you giving me this good
news that old age has overtaken me?
so what is your good news about?” |
|
55- |
They said: “We are giving you the news in
truth, so do not be without any hope.” |
|
56- |
Abraham said: “And who could really
despair of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are gone astray?” |
|
57- |
He asked saying: “What is then your
mission now, O messengers (of God)?” |
|
58- |
They (the angels) said: “We have been
sent to (punish) a community which are grave sinners,” |
|
59- |
“Except the family and adherents of (the
Prophet) Lot, whom we are of course going to save, all of them,” |
|
60- |
“With the exception of his wife; about whom
we have been commanded (by God)
that she shall be of those who remain
behind.” |
|
61- |
And when the messengers (the angels)
arrived at Lot’s folks. |
|
62- |
He (Lot) said: “You are really unfamiliar
to me.” |
|
63- |
They said: “But we have indeed come to
accomplish (the punishment)
that they (you sinful people) are doubting about.” |
|
64- |
“And we have come to you with truth and
we are truthful.” |
|
65- |
“So take your family out after a part of
the night has passed
and you go behind them and no one amongst you should
look back
and you must go on to where you are ordered.” |
|
66- |
And We made this Order known to him
(to Lot) that the root of these (sinners) will be cut off early in
the morning. |
|
67- |
And the inhabitants of the town came
happily (knowing that some young men arrived at Lot’s place),
to find
out (about them). |
|
68- |
He (Lot) said: “These are my guests
indeed, so do not make me ashamed (with your bad behavior),” |
|
69- |
And fear God and do not humiliate me.” |
|
70- |
They said: “Didn’t we forbid you from
keeping or protecting people of the world (or strangers) from us?” |
|
71- |
He said: “These are my (girls) daughters
if you intend to do something (marry them).” |
|
72- |
(O Muhammad) Indeed, by your life, such
people behave blindly in their intoxicated state. |
|
73- |
Then a very loud sound overtook them at
sunrise. |
|
|
74- |
And we turned (the towns of Sodom) upside
down and rained down on them stone like hardened clay. |
|
75- |
Surely, in this story, there are lessons
to be learned for people who want to learn them. |
|
76 |
And in fact, it (the town of Sodom) is
evident right by the road (from Medina to Syria, near the Dead Sea). |
|
77- |
Surely in this story, there is a lesson
for the believers. |
|
78- |
And the people of Aika (dwellers of
the woods) were also indeed wrong-doing people. |
|
79- |
We also retributed on them and they both
are by the road, quite clear to see
and a lesson to learn from for those who are passing by. |
|
80- |
And the people of the rocky area also
indeed denied the Messengers. |
|
81- |
And We gave them Our Verses, but they
kept off, avoiding it (the Message). |
|
82- |
And they kept (by chiseling) on, building
houses in the mountains to be safe. |
|
83- |
But then a very loud sound overtook them
early one morning. |
|
|
84- |
And all that they had built up was of no
use to them. |
|
85- |
And We did not create the heavens and the
earth,
and whatever is between them except and only for the (explanation of the) truth
and the Hour (of
Resurrection) is surely to come in the future.
So (O
Muhammad) overlook (people’s bad behavior and bad manners) with a nice
way of forgiving.. |
|
86- |
Certainly your Lord is the All Knowing
Creator of all there is. |
|
87- |
And indeed We did give you the Seven
Verses Chapter
(the first chapter of the Quran which has seven
Verses), often repeated and the Grand Quran. |
|
88- |
Do not look eagerly with your eyes at
what We have granted (of worldly possessions)
on some classes of
them (the disbelievers,) nor be sorry for them (and their
denials)
but hold your arm-wings around the believers, with
kindness. |
|
89- |
And say “I am indeed a plain warner
(which God had promised in previous Scripture).” |
|
90- |
Just as We have sent down (the warning in
the Quran) against those who divide the Scripture into parts, |
|
91- |
Who divided the Quran into parts
(believing in parts of it and disbelieving in other parts), |
|
92- |
Then, by your Lord, We shall certainly
call them all for questioning, |
|
93- |
About the way they were acting. |
|
94- |
So (you Muhammad) proclaim openly all
that you have been commanded to communicate and avoid the
