The Night Journey - Chapter 17
|
Contains 111 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
Glory to God, Who is beyond all limitations and imaginations,
Who during one night,
took His devoted servant (Muhammad) for a tour from the location
of the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca)
to the farthest Mosque (in Jerusalem), the environment of which
We have blessed,
in order that We show him (Muhammad), some of Our Signs .
Indeed He is the All Hearing, All Seeing (God).
1 |
|
2- |
Just as We gave the Book (of Guidance, The
Torah) to Moses
and We made it as a guidance for the Children of Israel (The Jews)
teaching them not to take other than Me,
anyone as a guardian or patron.
3 |
|
3- |
O descendents of those people whom We carried
(in the ship to safety) with Noah
(and you ungratefully worship idols), he (Noah) was a grateful
servant (of God). |
|
4- |
And We declared (Our Divine Prophecy) to the
Children of Israel (the Jews) in the Book (Torah) that:
“Indeed you will be doing grave mischief on earth twice
and that you will become very arrogant and demonstrate great
arrogance.” |
|
5- |
And when the first Promise of the two
(punishment’s time) arrived,
We raised up over and against you some of Our creatures-servants
of strong military power,
who then penetrated and invaded into your land and the first
warning-prediction was fulfilled.
4 |
|
6- |
Later We let you once prevail over them and
We aided you with wealth and children (generations)
and We made you more numerous in man-power. |
|
7- |
If you do good, you do good for yourselves,
in your favor.
And if you do evil, it will be against yourselves.
Then when another promise-prediction comes to pass, they will
despair (you and) sadden your faces,
and they will enter the mosque (the place of your worship) as they had entered it the first
time
and they will utterly destroy everything they conquer. |
|
8- |
It may be that your Lord would have Mercy
upon you, but if you return (to arrogance and evil-doing),
We will return and repeat (our punishment)
and We have made Hell as a prison for the ungrateful
disbelievers (in the Hereafter). |
|
9- |
Certainly, this Quran guides to that which is
most upright and gives good news to the believers who do good
deeds,
that they will have a great reward (Paradise and God’s Mercy). |
|
10- |
And (the Quran also announces) that those who
do not believe in the Hereafter,
We have prepared a painful suffering for them (Hell). |
|
11- |
And mankind ever so easily calls for harm and
evil, whereas he should be praying for good (for himself or
others).
And mankind usually is hasty in decisions. |
|
12- |
And We have made the night and the day as two
signs and symbols.
Furthermore We obscured the symbol of the night (with
darkness),
while We made the symbol of the day (with light), illuminating,
light–giving,
so that (with the help of light and guidance) you may seek more
goodness from your Lord
and also to learn the passing number of years and calculation
and We did explain everything in detail. |
|
13- |
And We have assigned for every human being a
detail of his life (‘s deeds) on his neck
(all his past actions and deeds are attached to him);
and on the Day of Resurrection, We bring out a book (of his life
on earth) which he will find wide open. |
|
|
14- |
(It will be stated :) “Read your book, today
you are sufficient as a accountant of your deeds". |
|
15- |
Whoever follows guidance (of God), then he
goes correct for his own benefit,
and whoever goes astray (in the wrong direction), he goes wrong
against his own interest
and no one shall bear the burden of responsibility of another
person (on the Day of Judgment).
And We have never punished any people until We had sent a
messenger (to warn against their evil deeds). |
|
16- |
And when We decided to destroy a town,
We first commanded the
well-to-do leaders who were transgressing people (to obey),
then when they disobeyed Our Commands, then the Word of
Punishment was realized and fulfilled against them.
Then We destroyed it utterly. |
|
17- |
And how many generations did We destroy after
Noah.
And Sufficient is your Lord the All Aware, All Observing of the
sins of his human creatures. |
|
18- |
Whoever desires (only) the quick-passing
(worldly enjoyments),
We readily let him have of it,
whatever We want, for anyone, We decide.
Then afterwards, We provide Hell for him, which he will reach
and endure disgraced and disowned. |
|
19- |
And whoever desires the good of the Hereafter
and strives wholeheartedly for it
while he is a believer, then such people are the ones whose
efforts shall be appreciated (and rewarded by God). |
|
20- |
To each of these groups, these (wanting only
the worldly enjoyment)
and those (wanting the serene life of the Hereafter),
We grant them from the generosity of your Lord.
And the generosity and granting of your Lord is not limited and
confined (to any kind of people). |
|
21- |
Look how We granted some, more than others (in
this world)
and of course for the Hereafter, there will be greater degrees
and ranks
(according to their deeds and by the Grace of God). |
|
22- |
Do not set up with God, another god or
someone else to worship,
otherwise you will sit feeling remorseful, blamed and humiliated |
|
23- |
And your Lord has commanded that you worship
none but Him
and that you act kindly to your parents.
If one of them or both of them reach old age while being with
you, do not mention any word of disrespect,
even such as un “ugh” to them and don't abuse them, but speak to them with kindness. |
|
24- |
And spread over them the wings (arms, wide)
with humility through tenderness and pray, saying:
” O my Lord, have Mercy on them, as they took care of me when I
was a child”. |
|
25- |
Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts
(inner-selves).
If you are righteous (well meaning and acting),
then (you should know that) He is certainly Forgiving to those
who turn unto Him again and again
(after making mistakes or sins). |
|
26- |
And do give to the close relative his or her
due and to the needy
and to the wayfarer (who runs out of funds during the travel).
But do not be wasteful in your giving and spending. |
|
27- |
Indeed the wasteful people are brothers of
the devils
and (originally) the devil (Satan) was ever so ungrateful to his
Lord. |
|
28- |
And if you have to turn away from them
(because you do not have enough to help them at the time),
expecting the Mercy of your Lord, which you hope for,
then speak to them with a soft kind word (i.e.: I hope God will
give me enough to be able to help you). |
|
29- |
Do not keep your hand chained to your neck
(avoiding to give any help),
nor stretch it out all the way (to spend all you have), then you
will end up sitting blameworthy and regretful. |
|
30- |
Indeed your Lord expands and enlarges the
provision for whom He wills and limits (it for whom He wills).
Certainly He is All Aware, All Observing over His servants.
|
|
31- |
And do not kill your children out of fear of
poverty.
We provide for them as well as for you.
Surely killing them is a great sin. |
|
32- |
And do not get close or near the possibility
of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Indeed it is a shameful sin and an evil way of behavior. |
|
33- |
Also do not kill anyone, whose killing God
has forbidden, except for a just cause.
5
And whoever is killed wrongfully, unjustly, We have indeed
ordained for his heir to have authority for a lawful
retaliation.
But he should not exceed in the matter of killing (i.e. should
not kill anyone else except the proven murderer).
6
Certainly he is to be aided (by Islamic Court of Law).
|
|
34- |
And do not get near the property of the
orphan except for the best of care and management,
till he (or she) reaches the age of full strength.
And fulfill your promise (your contract).
Certainly the contract and promise will be questioned about (in
the Hereafter as well). |
|
35- |
And give full measure when you sell by
measure, and weigh with a scale that is balanced straight
(do not give less than the buyer’s due amount).
That is good and better in the end (for the society and
correctness). |
|
36- |
And do not stand (say, believe or bear
witness) on something, of which you have no knowledge of.
Certainly the hearing, the sight and the heart (the power of
thinking),
all of those will be questioned (by God). |
|
37- |
And do not walk on earth with arrogant
gesture.
Of course you can neither penetrate the earth with your feet (by
banging on it arrogantly)
nor can you reach the height of the mountain (by stretching up
your head and your nose). |
|
38- |
All these are bad manners, not allowable and
not desirable by your Lord. |
|
39- |
These are the decrees which your Lord has
revealed to you (Muhammad) of wisdom.
And do not assume or set up with God, another god or object of
worship,
otherwise, you shall be cast into Hell, blamed and rejected
(from God’s Mercy). |
|
40- |
Has your Lord (in your false imagination)
singled you out to have sons,
while He has accepted daughters from among the angels (for
Himself)?
Truly, you are uttering a dreadful saying. |
|
41- |
And surely We have explained details (of
belief and behavior) in this Quran, so that they might take
notice,
but it increases only dislike in them (the
disbelievers). |
|
42- |
(O Muhammad) say: (to these polytheists,
pagans):
“If there were along with Him (with God), other gods, as
they say,
then they would have sought a way to get to interfere with the
decisions
of the One Who controls the Dominion of existence”. |
|
43- |
Glory to Him Who is Beyond all imagination, limitation and
association,
and He is High above all what they say, in magnifying (their
gods) extensively. |
|
|
44- |
The seven (multitudes of) heavens and the
earth and whatever is in them glorify Him
(by their constant obedient motion) and there is not a thing,
but that glorifies Him
(like all atom particles that constantly move obediently
according to His Design and Command),
but you do not perceive their glorification (worship).
Yet He is truly Ever Forbearing, Very Forgiving. |
|
45- |
And when you were reading the Quran, We
placed between you and those who do not believe in the
Hereafter,
an invisible screen (since they don’t want to hear or understand
the Quran). |
|
46- |
And We put on their hearts and minds
coverings, which hold them from understanding it (the Quran)
and a hardness in their ears (hard of hearing the truth) and
when you mention your Lord in the Quran,
Who is One, they turn on their backs, going away with much
dislike. |
|
47- |
We know well what they really are listening
to, when they appear to be listening to you
and while they whisper (to each other), as the unjust people
say:
“You are following none but a bewitched man”. |
|
48- |
See how they were calling you names,
therefore they went astray, then they can never find the way. |
|
49- |
And they say: “When we become bones and
pieces (in graves), do we really get raised up in a new
creation?” |
|
50- |
Say (O Muhammad to them): “Even if you become
stone or iron, (or whatever else, you will be resurrected),” |
|
51- |
“Or even from a condition greater or harder
in your imagination, (you still shall be resurrected).
Then they say: “Who shall bring us back (to life)? “
Say: “The One Who created you in the first place”.
Then they shake their heads at you and say: “When will that be?”
Say: “It could be near”. |
|
52- |
The Day when He calls you up, then you will
be answering (His Call by rising up alive again)
with His Praise and Obedience
and you will think that you stayed (on earth) for just a little
while. |
|
53- |
And tell My servants (good believers) that
they should use the best words while they are speaking to
others;
as Satan (the Devil) indeed causes conflict between them.
Truly, Satan has been an evident enemy to mankind. |
|
54- |
Your Lord knows you best;
If He wills, He
will have Mercy on you,
or if He wills, He will punish you (for your misbehavior).
And We have not sent you (Muhammad) as a guardian over them. |
|
55- |
And your Lord knows best the situation of all
that exist in the heavens and the earth.
And We have preferred some of the prophets over others (for
reasons)
and as such We gave David the (Book of) Psalms. |
|
56- |
Say (O Muhammad to the polytheists): “Call
and pray to those who you think (can hear your prayer) besides
Him
but they have
neither the power to remove the problem from you,
nor can they cause any change in your situation”. |
|
57- |
Those whom they (the polytheist) call and
pray to (anyone besides God)
they themselves have sought and desired means (of direct worship
to God) by which they would be nearest (to Him)
and have hoped for His Mercy and feared His Punishment.
Indeed the Punishment of your Lord is something to reckon with
and to be afraid of. |
|
58- |
And indeed there will not be any town but
that We will cause it to perish before the Day of Resurrection
or that We will cause it to vanish with a severe punishment.
This Decree has been written in the Book (of Our Decrees). |
|
59- |
And nothing hindered Us from sending
Miracles,
other than the fact that the people of the ancient times denied
and rejected them (the Miracles).
And (for example) We sent the (peculiar) she-camel as a clear
Miracle to the people of Thamood,
but they did wrong by harming it.
And We have not sent the Verses and the Miracles, but only to
warn and make them fear of disobedience (of His Rules). |
|
60- |
And (remember) when We told you (Muhammad):
“Of course your Lord encompasses whatever there is about
mankind".
And We made the dream that We showed you together with the cursed tree,
mentioned in the Quran,
7
only as a trial and test (of integrity) for the people.
And We warned them to be afraid (of following tyrants after
you),
but it will not increase in them anything other than vast and
major rebellion (against God’s Commandments). |
|
61- |
And (behold) when We told the angels:
“Prostrate yourselves for (the creation of) Adam”.
They all prostrated (bowed down) except Iblis (Satan), who said:
“Shall I prostrate myself for someone whom You created from
mud?” |
|
62- |
(Satan further) said: “Did you see this one
whom You have honored above me,
if You give me a chance (and keep me alive) till the Day of
Resurrection,
I will surely bring his offspring under my control except a few
of them”. |
|
63- |
(God) said: “Go and whoever of them follows
you,
then certainly Hell will be the end-result for you, a yield
well deserved”. |
|
64- |
“And keep fooling whom you can among them
with your voice
and assault them with your cavalry and infantry (satanic
warmongers)
and share with them in their wealth (take their money as
interest, tax, etc)
8
and in their children (many of today’s young people are given to
promiscuity and satanic behavior, in the west mostly)
and give them promises”.
But Satan promises them nothing but deceit. |
|
65- |
But as for my good servants, you won’t have
any authority over them.
And God Alone, your Lord is Sufficient as Guardian (for them).
|
|
66- |
Your Lord is the One Who makes the ship move
through the sea for you, in order for you to seek of His Bounty.
In fact He has been Very Merciful to you.
9 |
|
67- |
And when a harm touches you at sea, all those
others whom you call and pray to, will vanish except He.
But then when He brings you safely on land, you turn away (from
Him).
And humankind is ever so ungrateful. |
|
68- |
Are you then feeling safe and secure from the
possibility that He might make the ground to sink and swallow
you
or send a severe sand storm your way?
Then you won’t find any guardian. |
|
69- |
Or do you feel secure that He will not
inflict you again in the same situation at sea,
then send a hurricane of wind against you and then drown you
because of your ingratitude and disbelief?
Then you will not find any helper in that condition against Us. |
|
70- |
We have indeed honored the Children of Adam
and provided for them means of transportation on land and on the
sea
and provided for them also of lawful and pure provisions (foods)
and favored them greatly (in their abilities) above many of Our
Creation. |
|
71- |
(And be mindful of) the Day when We shall
call together all human beings along with their leaders
(whom they were following).
Then whoever is given his book (of his life’s records) in his
right hand,
then these people read their book (of their biography)
and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least (at all). |
|
72- |
And whoever was blind (-hearted) in this
world (could not appreciate the Majesty of God),
then in the Hereafter, that person will also be blind (-hearted
and unable to appreciate the Majesty of God)
and even more confused and astray from the correct path (of
thinking and understanding). |
|
73- |
Indeed, they nearly tempted you away from
that which We have revealed to you,
in order to fabricate something (words) other than that, against
Us (against Our words of Revelation)
and then they would have certainly taken you as an intimate
friend. |
|
74- |
And had We not made you stand firm (against
the temptation of the disbelievers),
you would nearly have inclined a little towards them. |
|
75- |
In that case, We would have certainly made
you taste a double punishment in this life
and a double punishment at the time of death (after death).
Then you could not have found any helper against Us (Our
Punishment). |
|
76- |
And they were about to scare you from the
land to get you out of there (out of Mecca).
But in that case, they would not have stayed (put themselves)
after you, except for a little while. |
|
77- |
(This was Our) Way (to deal in the past)
regarding Our Messengers which We sent before you (Muhammad).
And you won’t find any changes in Our Way. |
|
78- |
Establish and rise up for prayers at the
sun’s decline, (just after midday) till the darkness of the
night 10
and (rise up) for the recitation (of prayer and Quran) at dawn.
Surely the recitation at down is witnessed (noticeable). |
|
79- |
And in some point of the night, spent the
time in prayer,
as a special prayer for you (Muhammad to perform), so that
your Lord will raise you to a higher praised standing. |
|
80- |
And pray saying: “O my Lord, please have me
enter to do anything that I do with truthfulness
and have me complete and leave it with
truthfulness,
and grant me from Your Majesty, means and power which will be
helpful to me”. |
|
81- |
And say: “truth (belief in the One God) has
come and falsehood (worshipping other than God) has vanished.
Surely falsehood is doomed to vanish”. |
|
82- |
And from the (content of the) Quran,
We send down items in which there are means of healing and mercy
for those who believe in,
yet it does not add anything to the unjust wrongdoers except
loss.
(by their prejudice, lack of understanding and depriving
themselves of its benefits). |
|
83- |
Whenever We show mankind some favor, he turns
his back and withdraws to one side [distances himself];
and when a bad circumstance touches (happens to) him, he is in
great despair. |
|
84- |
Say (this fact that): “Each person acts
according to his attitude and intention and creed
and your Lord knows best who is better guided". |
|
85- |
And they ask you (O Muhammad) about the soul
(spirit);
Say: The spirit or soul is existent by Command of my Lord
and you (humans) have not been given of the knowledge (about the
spirit of mankind) except a little. |
|
86- |
(It is even so that) if We had willed, We
could surely take away all that which We have revealed to you
(the Quran).
Then you could not find anyone to plead with in this matter
against Our Decision. |
|
87- |
Except that (this whole Revelation) is a
Mercy from your Lord.
Indeed His Favor has been great unto you. |
|
88- |
88- Say: “If the entire humankind and Jinns
(invisible-extra terrestrial intelligent beings)
would gather to produce the like of this Quran,
they could not produce anything like it, even if they would help
each other”. |
|
89- |
And indeed We have explained fully to mankind
in this Quran of all kinds of situations and examples, (to teach
humans),
however most people don’t treat it except with ingratitude and
disbelief. |
|
90- |
They even say:
“We shall not believe in you (Muhammad), unless you cause a
spring to gush from the earth for us”. |
|
91- |
“Or that you would have a garden of
date-palms and grape-vines,
then you would cause many rivers to gush forth a lot of water in
the middle of it”. |
|
92- |
“Or that you would cause the sky to fall upon
us at once in pieces,
as you have imagined or that you bring God and the angels face
to face before us”. |
|
93- |
“Or that you would possess a house of gold
or that you would go up in the sky and even then we will not
believe in your ascension
until you bring down for us a Book that we could read”.
Say: “O Muhammad to them): “Glory to my Lord Who is Above and Beyond all that
(you imagine).
Am I anyone other than a man, sent as a Messenger?” |
|
94- |
And nothing prevented people from believing,
when the Guidance came to them,
except that they said (questioning the possibility): “Had God
ever sent a man as a Messenger?” |
|
95- |
Say: “If there were angels on earth, who
would be walking in peace and security,
We would have certainly sent down on them also an angel as a
messenger from the sky”. |
|
96- |
Say: "God Alone is sufficient as Witness
between me and you (that I am telling the truth about the
Revelations).
Certainly He is Ever All Aware, All Seeing (All Observing) on
his servants”. |
|
97- |
And whomever God guides, he is guided
correctly, and whomever He lets astray
(away from God’s Guidance of the Quran),
for such persons, you could not find any real helpers or
protectors, besides Him,
and We shall gather them together on the Day of Resurrection on
their faces, blind, dumb and deaf;
Their place will be Hell.
Wherever it slows down, We again increase the fierceness of
suffering to them. |
|
98- |
This is their punishment because they denied
Our Verses and Lessons, and asked saying:
“When we are bones and pieces, are we going to be raised up in a
new creation?" |
|
99- |
Don’t they see that God, Who created the
heavens and the earth, is Capable to create the like of them
and that He decreed an appointed time for their end, in which
there should not be any doubt.
Yet the unjust and incorrect wrongdoers refuse and deny the
truth and accept nothing but disbelief. |
|
100- |
Say (to the disbelievers): “Even if you had
possessed the treasures from the Mercy of my Lord,
you still would hold back from spending, for fear (of getting
exhausted) and mankind is ever so stingy”. |
|
101- |
And indeed We had given Moses nine clear
miracles and signs (of his truthfulness).
Ask the children of Israel (the descendents of Jacob), when he
(Moses) came to them (for guidance)
later the Pharaoh told him: “O Moses, I really think that you
are bewitched”. |

102- |
He answered, saying: “You certainly know that
nobody sent those revelations and miracles
except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidences (of
His Oneness and Majesty)
and I really think that you, Pharaoh are doomed to perish”. |
|
103- |
He (the Pharaoh) then decided to remove them
(the Israelites) from the earth,
but We then drowned him and all who were with him. |
|
104- |
And thereafter We said to the Children of
Israel: “Dwell in the land, then when the last Promise
(of the Day of Resurrection) arrives, We shall bring you
altogether (of all nations together)”. |
|
105- |
And We have sent it (the Quran) down for (the
explanation of) the truth, and it has descended with truth
and We have not sent you (Muhammad) except as a proclaimer of
good news (to good people)
and as a warner (to bad people regarding their future), |
|
106- |
And the Quran, which We have divided into
chapters (parts) so that you might read it to people at
intervals
and We kept on revealing it in stages (during the 23 years).
|
|
|
107- |
(O Muhammad) say: “Believe in it, or even if
you don’t believe in,
indeed those who were given the knowledge before its coming,
(believe it like some knowledgeable Jews, Christians and
Zoroastrian),
when it is being recited to them, they kneel down to their faces
in humble prostration”. |
|
108- |
And they say: “Glory to our Lord, Who is Beyond all.
Truly the Promise of our Lord (for the coming of Muhammad and
the Quran) has been indeed fulfilled”. |
|
109- |
And they kneel down, on their faces, weeping
(of joy) and it (the Quran) ever increases their humility (to God). |
|
110- |
(O Muhammad) say: “Call God as Allah or call
as The Most Gracious, (it means the same).
By whatever name you call Him, He has Beautiful Names.
And do not recite your prayer aloud or in a very low voice, but
perform it with a voice in between. |
|
111- |
And say: “All praises and thanks are due to
God, Who has not begotten a son (or any children)
and has no partner in His Dominion and there is none to whom He
is inferior, to have a superior.
And appreciate Him in His Magnificence (Saying: “God is The Most
Great”). |
If this tour was physical (by sensory perception of the eyes) or
it was mental-spiritual is immaterial, since God is Capable of either,
both and all. It is the demonstration and teaching to the prophet
Muhammad during this trip that was important (such as to notice how
worshippers worshipped the One God in the mosque =Temple in Jerusalem,
compared to the pagans who still had idols in Kaaba (in Mecca) and the
prophet was making all efforts to remove the idols and do away with
idol-worship.
3
Despite this teaching,
Christians in Europe have statues (idols) of their so-called “Patron –
Saints” erected on hills above their towns and all kinds of idols in
their churches!
Such as defending yourself when attacked by enemy fire or a
murderer who is duly convicted as the proven murderer by legitimate
court.
Before Islam,
people in Arabia would go on rampage to kill as many relatives of the
murderer also.
7
According to many interpreters,
that dream was that the prophet Muhammad dreamed that a bunch of monkeys
were going up to his pulpit and the cursed tree is the cursed family
tree of the Omayyad Dynasty of kings who took control of the government
of Muslims by force and they were the descendents of Abusufyan, the
enemy Of Islam and his son Muaviah and his grandson, Yazid who ordered
the killing of the of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the prophet Muhammad
and his family members and adherents.

Nowadays,
radios and televisions media are mostly controlled worldwide by Satanic
individuals who promote hatred, war, illicit sex, violence and many lies
and deceit and assault people in their homes with these merceneries of
Satanic army.

Seafood and for other trades and transportations.
