Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
Mary - Chapter 19
|
Contains 98 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful |
|
1- |
Kaaf – Ha – Ya – Ain – Saad |
|
2- |
This is for mentioning of the Mercy of your
Lord to His servant Zachariah. |
|
3- |
When he called to his Lord (God) in a secret
way. |
|
4- |
He said: “O my Lord, my bones have truly
become weak and the signs of age are showing on my head and o my
Lord,
I have never been deprived of Your Blessing in my prayers to You
in the past. |
|
5- |
And indeed I fear my relatives to be my
inheritors after my passing and my wife has been barren.
So please grant me a caretaker (heir) from Your Majesty”, |
|
6- |
“Who will inherit me and also will inherit
from the belief and traditions of the descendents
and adherents of Jacob and o my Lord, make him, a very pleasant
person”. |
|
7- |
(God said:) “O Zachariah, indeed We do give
you the good news of a son,
whose name will be John, a name that We did not give to anyone
before”. |
|
8- |
He said: “O My Lord, how could I have a son
while my wife is barren and I have reached grand old age?”
|
|
9- |
He (the angel) said: “It will be so. Your
Lord said that, this is very easy for Me,
and I have created you before while
you were nothing”. |
|
10- |
He said: “O my Lord, give me a sign (for me
to know I am going to have a son)".
He (God) said:
“Your sign shall be that you won’t be speaking to
people for three nights in a row, while being in sound health”. |
|
11- |
He then went out to his people from the
private praying place and told them by signs
to praise the Lord in the morning and in the evening. |
|
12- |
(Later on when John, the son of Zachary grew up
to a certain young age, We told him):
“O
John, hold unto the content of the Scripture firmly”.
And We gave him wisdom and assignment for prophethood while he
was still a young boy, |
|
13- |
And (also We granted him) charisma, sympathy
as well as purity of character from Our Grace
and he was very pious (God-conscious). |
|
14- |
And he was very nice to his parents and he
was neither a bully nor disobedient (to God). |
|
15- |
And peace be upon him the day he was born,
the day he died and the day when he will be raised up alive
again. |
|
16- |
And mention also in the Book (the Quran)
about Mary,
when she withdrew herself from her family to a place east of
(Jerusalem). |
|
17- |
She then took up a cover and veil, while away
from them,
We then sent Our holy spirit (angel Gabriel) to her and he then
appeared to her as a nice appearing person. |
|
18- |
She said: “I certainly seek refuge with the
Most Gracious (God) from you that you would be pious
(God-conscious)". |
|
19- |
(the Angel) said:
“I am indeed only the messenger of your Lord to convey to you
(the news of the gift of) a son, pure in character. |
|
20- |
She (asked) saying:
“How could I have a son, when no man has ever touched me and I
was never incorrect in behavior?” |
|
21- |
(The Angel) said: “So it shall be".
Your Lord said: “That is easy for Me (God, to create even
without a father);
and We will definitely make him as a Sign (of God’s Majesty and
Guidance) and as a Mercy from Us (God)
and this is a matter already decided upon". |
|
22- |
So then she conceived and carried him and
went to seclusion with him (the baby in the womb)
to a far place (Bethlehem, about 5 miles from Jerusalem). |
|
23- |
Later the labor pains drove her towards the
trunk of a date-palm tree.
She said: “I wish I had died before this and would have been
forgotten, out of sight”. |
|
24- |
Then (a voice) called her from below her:
“Do not to be sad; your Lord indeed has placed a stream of water
down below you”. |
|
25- |
"And shake the trunk of the date-palm toward
you, fresh ripe dates will fall upon you”. |
|
26- |
So eat and drink and be happy.
Later if you see any human being, say:
“I have indeed pledged to the Most Gracious God a fasting (of
silence) and I shall not speak to any human being today”. |
|
27- |
She then brought him (the baby Jesus) to her
people, carrying him.
They said: “O Mary, you have brought about a major thing
(major problem)”, |
|
28- |
"O sister of Aaron, your father was not a bad
man (to commit any wrong act) and your mother was not unchaste”.
1 |
|
29- |
(For the answer,) she then pointed to him
(baby Jesus).
They said: “How can we talk to a child in the crib (cradle). |
|
30- |
He (the baby Jesus) said:
"I am indeed the servant of God, He has already given me the
Book and made me a prophet”, |
|
31- |
"And He has made me blessed wherever I may be
and He advised me about prayer and charity spending as long as I
live”. |
|
32- |
"And He made me kind to my mother and
He did not make me an arrogant bully, to be doomed”. |
|
33- |
"And peace is upon me the day I was born, the
day I die and the day I shall be raised up alive”. |
|
|
34- |
This is the story of Jesus, son of Mary, the
statement of truth, about which people have doubts and dispute. |
|
35- |
There is no way that God would beget a son
(as the so-called Christians claim),
Glory to Him,
He is beyond (all that imaginations and claims).
When He decides about a decree, He would only say to it: “Be”
and it comes into being. |
|
36- |
And (Jesus said:) In fact God is my Lord and
your Lord, so worship Him (not others).
That is the straight and correct path (to happiness). |
|
37- |
Later on, groups of sects arose to have
difference of opinion between them
(some believed in him as a prophet and some who disbelieved in
him, claimed him to be the son of God).
Therefore woe to the disbelievers at the Meeting Place of
witnesses (Jesus and others with the permission of God)
on the Great Day (of Resurrection and Reckoning). |
|
38- |
How well they (the disbelievers) will listen
and perceive (the truth) on the Day (of Resurrection)
when they come to Us (at the Witness Stand).
But for now and today, the unjust (the polytheists) are in
evident error. |
|
39- |
(O Muhammad) warn them of the Day of
Regret when their case is judged upon,
while (now) they are in the state of unawareness and they are
not believing (in the absolute Oneness of God). |
|
40- |
Certainly We will inherit the earth and the
custody of all who are on it and they all shall be led back to
Us
(in Our Custody and Judgment). |
|
41- |
And also mention in the Book (the Quran) the
story of Abraham.
He was indeed a man of truth, a Prophet. |
|
42- |
When he told his father:
“O my father, why do you worship something which does not hear
and does not see and is of no use to you at all?!” |
|
43- |
“O my father, indeed some of important
knowledge has come to me, some knowledge that has not come to
you yet.
So follow me, I will guide you into a nice direction (of belief
and behavior)”. |
|
44- |
“O my father, do not worship the devil
(Satan);
as Satan was a disobedient rebel indeed towards The Most
Gracious (God)”. |
|
45- |
“O my father, I really fear a punishment will
reach you from the Most Gracious (God)
and you would become then a companion of the devil. |
|
46- |
He (the father) said: “Are you rejecting my
God, o you Abraham?
If you don’t stop that, I will certainly stone you.
So get away
from me for a while (before I stone you)". |
|
47- |
He (Abraham) said: “Peace be at you, I will
ask my Lord for forgiveness for you.
Indeed He has been Very Kind to me”. |
|
48- |
“And I shall keep away from you and what you
call upon and pray to, other than God
and I pray to my Lord with the hope that I will not be unworthy
in praying to my Lord”. |
|
49- |
Later when he turned away from them and from
those things that they worshiped,
We blessed him with Isaac and Jacob (his grandson) and We
appointed each of them to be a Prophet. |
|
50- |
And We granted them of Our Mercy and We let
them have a tongue for truthfulness with high reputation. |
|
51- |
Also mention in the Book (the Quran) about
Moses. He was indeed a devoted servant (to God)
and he was a Messenger, a Prophet. |
|
52- |
And We called him from the right side of the
Mount (Sinai, to receive the Commandments)
and made him closer to Us for guiding and saving (his people). |
|
53- |
And out of Our Mercy, We granted him his
brother Aaron, also as a Prophet (to help him). |
|
54- |
Also mention in the Book (the Quran) about
Ishmael.
He was truly sincere in his promise and he was a Messenger, a
Prophet. |
|
55- |
And he used to encourage his family and
relatives to prayer and charity
and he was pleased and was accepted by his Lord. |
|
56- |
And mention in the Book (the Quran) Enoch.
Indeed he was a truthful man, a Prophet. |
|
57- |
And We raised him to a high status. |
|
58- |
There were the ones, to whom God bestowed His
Grace from among the Prophets,
from the descendents of Adam and of the descendents of those
whom We had carried with Noah (in the ship)
and of the descendents of Abraham and Israel (Jacob) and from
among those whom We guided and chose.
Whenever the Verses and lessons of the Most Gracious (God) were
recited to them,
they went down in prostration and were moved into weeping. |
|
59- |
But then after them, others came as their
successors, who were careless about prayer and followed their
lust.
So they will reach the result of their diversion (from the
straight path, in the Hereafter), |
|
60- |
Except those of them who repented and really
believed and went on to do righteous good deeds.
Therefore they will enter Paradise and they won’t be wronged at
all. |
|
61- |
(They shall enter) Everlasting Gardens [of
Paradise] which
the Most Gracious (God) has promised His good servants
in the yet unseen future.
Certainly His Promise will come to be realized and fulfilled. |
|
62- |
They shall not hear in there any dirty talk
or nonsense, but peaceful talk and greeting.
And they will have their nutrition there mornings on into the
night. |
|
63- |
Such is the Garden (of Paradise) which We
shall let Our servants who were pious (God-conscious), inherit. |
|
64- |
And (angels would be saying:)
we do not send down (any Verses or any Blessings) except by
Command of your Lord.
Whatever we have available now, in the future or in the past or
in between, belongs to Him
and your Lord has never been forgetful. |
|
65- |
(He is) The Lord of the heavens and the earth and
whatever exists in between those,
therefore worship Him only and be steady and persevere in His
worship.
Do you know anyone with similar names and qualities as He is? |
|
66- |
And mankind (still would question and) would say:
“When I die, do I get to be raised alive again?” |
|
67- |
Does mankind not remember or grasp the fact
that We created him before while he was nothing? |
|
68- |
So by your Lord, We shall definitely gather
them and the devils together,
then We shall certainly bring them around the Hell on their
knees. |
|
69- |
Then We shall drag out from every sect all
those who were most serious
in their rebellion
towards the Most Gracious (God). |
|
70- |
Then of course We know best those who are
deserving most to be burn there. |
|
71- |
And there is not a single one of you
(mankind) but that will enter it to see (the Hell);
this is a certain Decree, already decided by your Lord. |
|
72- |
Then We save those who were pious
(God-conscious, from Hell while they get to see what is
happening to the evil ones)
and We let the unjust dishonest ones in there (humbled) on their
knees. |
|
73- |
And whenever Our clear Verses and Lessons
were read to them, those who disbelieved
(the rich and famous among the people)
would say to those who have believed: “Which group (the poor
believers or the disbelievers)
is in a better position or status and in a nicer situation in
the (town) council and power?” |
|
|
74- |
(But they should remember) How many a
generation of the past We have destroyed before them,
who were better in worldly goods and in appearances. |
|
75- |
(O Muhammad) say: Whoever is in error (and
prefers to stay in it),
the Most Gracious (God) will still prolong his time for a while
until they see what they have been promised,
be it either the punishment (in this world) or at the Hour (Time
of Judgment Day in the Hereafter)
and they shall come to find out who is really in worst place and
who is weaker in regards to forces. |
|
76- |
And it is so that God increases the guidance
for those who accepted and followed the right way.
And the righteous good deeds which remain and last, are better
by your Lord as a measure of reward
and it is a better measure of value to refer to.
(not how much wealth is left for the heirs or how much power one
had in his or her lifetime). |
|
77- |
Did you notice the one who denied and
rejected Our Verses (of the Quran) and said:
“I will certainly be given wealth and children (when and if I
would be alive again)”. |
|
78- |
Did he get knowledge from the unseen future
or did he get a promise from the Most Gracious (God)? |
|
79- |
Not so, but We shall record what he says and
We shall prolong and increase his punishment. |
|
80- |
And We inherit and get custody of all of what
he says and he shall come to Us (for reckoning) all alone. |
|
|
81- |
And they took up gods besides God, so that
they supposedly will cause them honor and power. |
|
82- |
But they won’t be so (in the Hereafter), when
they will reject their worship and will be opponents against
them. |
|
83- |
Don’t you notice that We have sent the devils
to the disbelievers,
who will cause them (by their incitement) a lot of evil and
trouble. |
|
|
84- |
So don’t be hasty against them.
We indeed let them have a good number (of days and chances). |
|
85- |
(Remember) The Day when We will gather the
pious and righteous people to the Most Gracious
as a delegation (to receive honor and rewards). |
|
86- |
And We drive the sinners and criminals
towards the Hell in their anxious thirsty state. |
|
87- |
They shall have no access to any intercession
except as a person who has received a promise or permission from
the Most Gracious (God). |
|
88- |
And they (the polytheists, as well as some
Christians) say: "God The Most Gracious has begotten a son”
|
|
89- |
Indeed you (who claim this nonsense) have
made up a terrible evil thing. |
|
90- |
From this (grave lie) could the heavenly
bodies burst, the earth split apart and the mountains break down
in pieces. |
|
91- |
That they claim a son for the Most Gracious
God. |
|
92- |
There is no way that the Most Gracious God
would choose a son. |
|
93- |
There never has been anything in the heavens
and the earth,
except that it has come to being as a servant of the Most
Gracious God. |
|
94- |
He has determined and He is well aware of
their conditions and their numbers (of all beings). |
|
95- |
And everyone of them will come to Him alone
on the Day of Resurrection. |
|
96- |
Certainly those who have believed and have
done good deeds,
the Most Gracious will provide for them those who love them,
will make then the subject of love and affection by others |
|
97- |
(O Muhammad) Indeed We have made it (the
Quran) easy on your tongue so that by its means
(the Quran),
you could give good news to pious people
and to warn those who are belligerent. |
|
98- |
How many generations We have destroyed who
lived before them.
Do you sense anything from them or do you hear any slightest
voice of them? |
|
|
