Pilgrimage - Chapter 22
|
Contains 78 Verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the
Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
O Mankind, be conscious and in awe of your
Lord.
Indeed the earthquake of the Last Hour (of the earthly
life) will be a great and awesome thing. |
|
2- |
On that Day you shall see even
any nursing mother will abandon her nursling
and every pregnant
woman will abort her load
and you will see people as if they are drunk, while they are not drunk,
but (they
perceive that) God’s punishment is severe (that is why they
will be in that state). |
|
3- |
And yet among people, there is the kind of
person, who argues about God without having any knowledge (of
Him)
and follows just any rebellious satanic force. |
|
4- |
It is commanded and determined
that whoever entrusts and follows it (Satan),
it will mislead and drive
that person towards the suffering of the blazing fire. |
|
5- |
O Mankind, if you are in doubt about the
(reality) of the coming Resurrection,
remember that We indeed have
created (every one of) you (initially) from the ground-dust,
then from the germ-cell (copulated ovum with sperm),
then from
the stage of a suspended sucking little worm-like creature,
later through the stage of embryonic lump similar to a chewed
piece of flesh,
having differentiated and undifferentiated
tissue forms:
We are saying this to you to make your origin clear to
you (by explaining to you how We created you).
And We maintain
alive in the wombs, whom We will until the appointed term,
then
We deliver you out as babies
then We make you grow to the age of
your full strength.
And along this way, some of you die (earlier)
and some of you live a long life to reach down to the lowest quality of
life,
so that he does not know anymore what he once knew. (Today
we call this condition Alzheimer, s disease)
Also observe the dried up land (dead land) which after We send
down rain upon it, it becomes alive,
it blossoms and grows all kind of beautiful and lovely plants. |
|
6- |
This (explanation) is because He is the
Absolute Truth
and certainly He is the One Who gives life to the dead
and that He is of course Able to do all things. |
|
7- |
And that the Hour (Time of Judgment) will
be in the future, in which there is no doubt
and that God will
certainly raise up all who (have died and) are in the graves. |
|
8- |
And from among the people, there is the
one who disputes and argues about God (and His Words)
without
any knowledge or any good guidance or any illuminating
(clarifying) Book (of God), |
|
9- |
Holding up his neck to the side with pride
(as if he knew, by twisting the truth),
to mislead others badly from the Way of God.
For such a person, there will be shame and humiliation in this
lifetime and on the Day of Resurrection,
We shall make him taste
the torment of the burning (by his severe unrelenting regret).
1 |
|
10- |
(To such a person, it will be told:)
“This torment is because of your own hands (doing),
which you
sent forth (during your earthly lifetime) and the truth is that
God is never unjust to the servants". |
|
11- |
And among the people is the kind of person
who worships God literally at
the edge (of
doubt and downfall);
so that when good happens to him,
he gains confidence, but when a tough trial occurs to him,
he turns
around on his face (and turns to disbelief after embracing
Islam).
Such a person will lose both this world and the Hereafter.
That
is a real evident loss. |
|
12- |
He would call and pray to other than
God, others which can neither hurt, nor benefit him.
Now that is
a straying far away (from the truth). |
|
13- |
He prays to the entity, whose harm (by
praying to) is nearer (and more immediate) than any benefit from
it
(like those praying to Jesus or a 'saint' or an ancestors or to
anyone else but God).
What a really unfit, bad and incapable patron (protector) and
what an unfit evil follower-friend.
(the confused misguided
worshipper, who prays to other than God). |
|
14- |
Truly God will admit those who have
believed and have done good,
righteous deeds (during their
lifetime) into the Gardens (of Paradise), down which streams and
rivers flow.
Certainly God performs what He wills. |
|
15- |
Whoever thinks that God would not help
him (or her) in this world and in the life to come (in the
Hereafter),
such person should reach up by a means (such as
intense prayer, fasting, almsgiving etc) to heaven,
also he
should cut off (any expectation from others),
then he should
wait to see if this plan of his, will remove the cause of his
anguish. |
|
16- |
And thus (by these examples), We sent it
(the Quran) as clarifying Verses
(Lessons, so that people should pray
only to God and not to others)
and surely God guides whom He wills (and whoever wants to be guided). |
|
17- |
Certainly those who believe (in God and
His Prophet Muhammad)
and those of Jewish ancestry,
the Sabians
(followers of John, the Baptist),
the Christians
and
the Zoroastrians
and those who associate divinity (to others than
God),
truly God will judge between them and keep them apart (the
truthful from the associators)
on the Day of Resurrection,
as
God is Ever Witness over all things and situations. |
|
18- |
Do you see that to God prostrate
(by
obeying to His Will, even atoms by following the harmony of
movements that God destined for them),
whoever and whatever is in the heavens
(the Galaxies) and all those who are on the earth,
also the sun,
the moon and the stars, the mountains, the trees and the animals
and many of the mankind.
But there are also many, on whom punishment
is justified (by their evil behavior).
And whomever God disgraces and humiliates, there won’t be anyone
to bring honor to him
Certainly God does whatever He wills. |
|
19- |
These two opponents (believers and
disbelievers) have been disputing with each other about their
Lord.
Then as for those who have disbelieved, garments of fire
will be cut out for them
and boiling liquid will pour down from
above their heads (in the life to come, in the Hereafter),
|
|
20- |
That will melt away whatever (evil) there is
in their insides and within their skins |
|
21- |
And iron hooked rods will keep them there
(imprisoned). |
|
22- |
Each time they decide to get out of that
condition of anguish,
they will be driven back in there and
(they will be told:)
“Taste further the punishment of the
burning”. |
|
23- |
Truly God admits those who have believed
and did righteous good works (during their life time on earth),
into Gardens (of Paradise) under which streams and rivers flow,
where they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls and
their clothing will be of silk. |
|
24- |
And they have been guided unto nice
manner of speech
(e,g, mentioning and thanking for God’s
Blessings and talking politely to other persons)
and they have
been guided to the praiseworthy way of life,
and to the One, Who is
Most Praiseworthy. |
|
25- |
Certainly, those who disbelieve (away
from the truth) and hinder others from the Way of God
and from
the Sacred Mosque (in Mecca), which We have set it up for all
people alike,
(both) for those who dwell there (in Mecca) and
those who come there from abroad.
And whoever intends to do
mischief there by evildoing (such as worshipping idols),
We shall make them taste the painful suffering (in the
Hereafter). |
|
26- |
And (remember and remind others) when We
showed Abraham the site of the (Sacred) House
(of worship, to be
built, advising him):
“Do not associate anything with
Me and purify My House (of worship)
for those who will walk
around it and those who will stand there (in prayer)
and those
who will bow down and prostrate themselves, (placing their
foreheads on the ground in worshipping Me). |
|
27- |
And (O Muhammad) call upon mankind (the
duty of) the pilgrimage;
they will came to you on foot and on
all kinds of vehicles, coming from every far away points
(on
earth, to perform the pilgrimage). |
|
28- |
So that they might experience the
benefits (of the pilgrimage) for themselves,
and to mention the Name of
God on appointed days, over the heads of cattle,
which He has
provided for them (for sacrifice).
Then eat of that (sacrificed
animals) and feed the poor who are having hard time. |
|
29- |
Then also, they should cleanse themselves, complete their
duties of ritual and fulfill their vows
and walk (again) around
the Ancient House (the Ka’bah in Mecca). |
|
30- |
That shall be done and whoever honors the
Sacred duties, provided by God,
that will be best for him with his Lord.
Also the (consumption of) cattle has been lawful for you except
as it is mentioned to you
(such as an animal slaughtered as a sacrifice to an idol
etc).
therefore avoid the wrong stuff (sacrifices made) for idols and
avoid false talk and false expression. |
|
31- |
Be truthfully devout to God, not associating
anyone or anything with Him, ever;
and whoever
assumes partners to God, it is as if he has fallen off from the sky
and a bird then snatches him
or as if a strong wind throws him
to a far off place (away and off from human dignity). |
|
32- |
It should be noted that whoever honors the
sacred duties and rites prescribed by God,
then that is of course from the
piety of hearts and God-consciousness. |
|
33- |
In that (cattle sacrificed about the end
of the Hajj pilgrimage,)
there are benefits for you till the
appointed occasion,
then it should be brought to the area (near)
the Ancient House (of Ka'ba in Mecca for sacrifice). |
|
34- |
And for every religions nation, We
appointed certain religious ceremonial duties
by which they should mention the Name of God over each of the
cattle that He has provided for them as food.
So know that your true Lord is
One God,
therefore submit to Him (His Will and His Guidance and
Commandments)
and give good news to the persons who are humbly
obedient (to God). |
|
35- |
The kind of persons, who when (the Name of)
God is mentioned,
their hearts tremble (in awe) and are patient
and steadfast on whatever difficulties hits them
and who establish regular prayers and give in charity from what
We have
provided to them. |
|
36- |
And as for the sacrifice of large camels, We
have ordered it for you as symbols (of worship) to God,
in which
there is much good for you.
So mention the Name of God over them
when they are lined up (for sacrifice);
then after when they are down on their sides (after slaughter),
eat of their flesh and
feed the poor who is content with his situation (and does not
beg), as well as the one who begs.
Thus We have made them (the
sacrificial animals) at your disposal, so that you may be
grateful. |
|
37- |
Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches
God,
but it is your piety and God-consciousness that reaches
Him.
It is for this reason that We have made them (the animals) subservient to
you,
so that you might appreciate the Greatness of God for all
the Guidance He granted you.
And give good news to those who do
good. |
|
38- |
Certainly God defends those who believe
(in Him, His Prophets and the Hereafter).
Indeed God does not
like anyone who betrays
His trust and is ungrateful. |
|
39- |
Permission (to defend and fight) is given
to those against whom war was waged,
since they were dealt with unjustly and of course
God is Absolutely-Capable to aid them in success and victory, |
|
40- |
Those who have been driven from their
homelands against their right, only because of their (faith)
saying:
“Our Lord is the One God”.
And had it not been that God enabled
one set of people to defend themselves against another,
(all)
monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques, in all of which,
the Name of God is very much mentioned, would surely have been
destroyed (by now).
And certainly God will help those who help
His Cause, as God is truly the All Powerful, Almighty. |
|
41- |
Those who if We established them with
power in the land,
they would establish prayer (the five regular prayers)
and would give in charity and would enjoin
others in doing good and rightful and they would forbid evil behavior
and in God's Hand rests
the final outcome of all events. |
|
42- |
And if they call you (O Muhammad) a liar, so did before them the people of Noah,
Aad and Thamud
(against their prophets, calling them liars), |
|
43- |
And also the people of Abraham and the people
of Lot, |
|
44- |
And the inhabitants of Madyan and so was
also Moses called as a liar (by Pharaoh).
Then (in each instance) We gave
the disbelievers time and opportunity
(to correct themselves,
but they persisted in wrong-doing and denial).
I then seized
them and how awesome was My Denial and Rejection (of them). |
|
45- |
And how many townships have We destroyed
because they were behaving so unjustly.
Now they lie in ruin,
with their roofs caved in and (many) deserted wells
and many castles that once stood high and lofty. |
|
46- |
Why don’t they travel about on earth, so
that their hearts will gain wisdom
and their ears will get the
power to listen (to the truth)?
But then it is not their eyes which
are blind, but it is their hearts inside (them) that have become blind. |
|
47- |
They even challenge you (Muhammad) to
expedite the coming of punishment (upon them from God),
but God
never fails to fulfill His Promise
and behold in the View of your Lord, a day is like a thousand
years of the way you count. |
|
48- |
And to how many townships I gave
them time and opportunity (to correct themselves)
while they were behaving
wrongly and unjustly.
But then I seized them (in their denial)
and
the end of all journeys is to Me. |
|
49- |
(O Muhammad) say: “O Mankind, I am an
obvious explaining warner for you,” |
|
50- |
So those who believe (in the One God, the
Prophet and the Hereafter) and do righteous good works,
there
will be forgiveness and generous livelihood for them (from God). |
|
51- |
But those who strive against Our Messages,
seeking to defeat their meaning,
they are destined to
be the dwellers of the Blazing Hell-fire. |
|
52- |
Before you We did not send any Messenger, nor
any Prophet except that in each case
when he hoped for (receiving a Message from God), Satan would cast (a bad thought) in his mind,
but God
in each instance made null and void whatever Satan would throw
in,
then God reaffirmed His Messages (to him).
God is All Knowing, All Wise. |
|
53- |
So that He may set up anything Satan has
proposed, as a trial
for those in whose heart there is a
disease
(of hypocrisy or doubt or disbelief) and whose hearts
have hardened.
And certainly the ones who are unjust and sinners, are ever far
away from and in conflict with the truth. |
|
|
54- |
And (God abolishes those temptations of
Satan)
so that those who have been given knowledge, might come to
believe in that it (the Quran) is the truth from your Lord
and that
their hearts might humbly submit to it,
and certainly God is the
Guide for those who have reached faith, to the correct and
straight way (to salvation). |
|
55- |
Whereas those who deny the truth, will
continue to be in doubt (about the Quran)
till the Hour (of
Resurrection) comes upon them suddenly
or that the suffering of
a Day without any hope (in the Hereafter) befalls them. |
|
56- |
The rule on that day will be only God’s
Rule.
He will judge between them.
So those who have believed and
did righteous good works, will be in Garden of Delight and Bliss
(in Paradise). |
|
57- |
And those who denied the truth and call Our Verses (of this Quran)
as,
there shall be a humiliating
suffering for them. |
|
58- |
And those who emigrated in the Cause of
God, then were killed or died,
surely God will provide them with
a good provision and certainly God is the Best Provider. |
|
59- |
Definitely He will cause them to enter a
state of being with which they will be pleased
and certainly God
is All Knowing, Most Forbearing. |
|
60- |
That is so, and whoever retaliated with
the like of that which he was made to suffer, then again is
wronged,
certainly God will help him.
Surely God is indeed
Very Pardoning, Very Forgiving. |
|
61- |
That is just as He
merges the night into the day
(at every evening and also
gradually by lengthening the night in fall and winter and vice
versa)
and He merges the day into the night
and God is Ever
All Hearing, All Observing. |
|
62- |
That is because God is the Absolute Truth
and whatever they call and pray to, other than Him, is
falsehood
and that God is the Most High, The most Great. |
|
63- |
Don’t you see that God sends down water
from the sky and by that the land becomes green?
In fact God is
Kind in details and All Aware. |
|
64- |
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens
and all that is on the earth
and indeed God is the Rich and ever
so Worthy of all praises. |
|
65- |
Don’t you see that God has subjected for
you whatever is on the earth
and that the ships sail and run
through the sea by His Commands?
And that He withholds and prevents (objects from) the sky to fall on the earth except by His
Permission.
Indeed God is Very Kind, Most Merciful to people. |
|
66- |
And He is the One who brings you to life,
then causes you to die,
then brings you back to life (on the Day
of Resurrection).
Indeed mankind is often very ungrateful. |
|
67- |
For every nation and creed, We ordained
religious rituals by which they practiced,
so they should not
dispute with you regarding the matter
(of religious rituals such
as prayer, pilgrimage ceremonies etc) and do invite them to your
Lord.
You (Muhammad) are indeed on the right path of guidance.
|
|
68- |
And if they argue with you, say: “God
knows best about what you are doing”. |
|
69- |
“God will judge between you on the Day of
Resurrection about that in which you had differences of
opinions”. |
|
70- |
Don’t you know that God knows whatever is
in the heaven and on the earth;
all that knowledge is indeed in
a Book of Knowledge.
In fact that is easy for God. |
|
71- |
And they (the misguided ones) worship
other than God,
for which He never gave them any permission to
and they have no true knowledge about them
and for those who
persist in injustice and falsehood, there will be no helpers. |
|
72- |
And when Our Clear Verses and Messages
are read to them, you notice denial on the faces of the
disbelievers.
They are about to attack those who read Our Verses
to them.
Say: “Shall I inform you about something worse than
that?
The Fire (of Hell) which God has promised to those who
have disbelieved;
and awful, worst destination it is”. |
|
73- |
O mankind, an example (for understanding) is
being explained, so listen carefully to it:
Certainly those whom you call or pray to
other than God, can not even create a fly,
even if they would
combine their efforts to it.
And if a fly snatches away some
little piece from them, they could not even get it off from it
(the fly).
Both the seeker (of help from the idols) and those sought from
(the idols) are weak. |
|
74- |
They (the disbelievers) have not
appreciated God the way it should be according to the truth of
His Greatness,
in reality God is Most Powerful, Almighty
Dominant over all. |
|
75- |
God chooses Messengers from amongst the
angels and from among the people.
Indeed God is All Hearer,
All Observant. |
|
76- |
He knows all what is ahead of them (in
the present and the future) and what is behind them (of their
past)
and all matters ultimately return to God (for judgment and
disposition of their case). |
|
77- |
O you who have believed, bow down and
prostrate (your forehead on the ground)
and worship your Lord and
do good, so that you will be happy and successful |
|
78- |
And strive in the Cause of God, worthy of
efforts on His Way.
He chose you (to convey His Message and to
be role models)
and He did not place any hardship in the matter
of religion for you;
the
same religion of your (religious) father Abraham.
He (God) named you Muslims before and in this (the Quran),
so
that the Messenger (Muhammad) will be as a witness and role
model for you
and subsequently you (Muslims) should be witnesses and role
models for mankind.
Therefore, along this line, establish and
perform regular prayers and give the charity
and grasp to God’s
(Help and Guidance) firmly.
He is your True Master and Lord Patron and
what an Excellent Master and what an Excellent Helper He is. |

We
have recently also seen many TV-high priests who attacked the
Quran, became severely humiliated after they became known to be
involved in homosexual or other immoral activities and
cheatings.
