The
Believers - Chapter 23
|
Contains 118 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
Certainly the believers will succeed and they
will be
happy. |
|
2- |
Those who are humble during their prayers, |
|
3- |
And those who avoid nonsense (vain talk,
gossip, and vain activities), |
|
4- |
And those who are active in their giving
of charity, |
|
5- |
And those who protect their chastity and
guard their sex, |
|
6- |
Except toward their spouses or their women
whose custody they have taken
(in marriage such as widows as a
result of wars etc),
in which instance they will have no blame |
|
7- |
But then whoever seeks beyond this limit,
such persons will be as transgressors (of God’s Rules). |
|
8- |
And those who are faithful and respectful
in regard to protecting their trusts and promises (to God and to
people). |
|
9- |
And those who carefully guard and care
about their regular prayers. |
|
10- |
They will be the true inheritors. |
|
11- |
They are those who will inherit the
Paradise, and they will reside and stay there forever. |
|
12- |
And indeed We have created mankind from
the ingredients of the ground, |
|
13- |
We then placed him as a sperm-copulated
ovum in a safe location (in the womb). |
|
14- |
Then We processed the creation of the
sperm-copulated ovum into a suspended little worm-shaped state,
then processed this suspended shape into an embryonic lump,
further We processed this lamp into bones, then We covered the
bones with flesh (muscles),
then We brought him (or her) into another creation (of human beings, by granting them spirit).
So Blissful is God, the Best of creators. |
|
15- |
Then after all that, surely you will die. |
|
16- |
Then again on the Day of Resurrection,
you will surely be raised up (from the graves). |
|
17- |
And We have indeed created seven layers
(in the sky) above you
and We have never been unaware of the creation.
1 |
|
18- |
And We have sent down water from the sky
( the original formats of water) in due measure
and We then
caused it to reside in the earth
and We are of course able to
take it away.
2 |
|
19- |
And by that (water), We made it appear
for you gardens of date-palms and grapes,
in which there are
many fruits for you and of which you eat. |
|
20- |
And that tree (olive tree) that grows out
from Mount Sinai area,
which grows to produce oil and it is a
delicacy for the eaters (who appreciate good food). |
|
21- |
And certainly in the cattle, there is a
lesson for you to ponder,
We let you drink (the milk) of that which is in their inside
and there are numerous benefits for you
in them and that you eat of them. |
|
22- |
And on them and also on ships you get carried
and transported. |
|
23- |
And We indeed sent Noah to his people (as
Messenger),
he then said: “O my people, worship only God; there
is no other true god for you but Him.
Will you then not be
mindful and conscious? (of Him and avoid worshipping others than
God)”. |
|
24- |
Then the chiefs of his people who
disbelieved said:
“This man (Noah) is no more than a human being
like you who is trying to show himself superior over you
and if
God had willed, He would surely have sent down angels.
We never
heard this kind of thing from our forefathers”, |
|
25- |
"He is only a man, with madness, so bear
with him for a while”. |
|
26- |
He (Noah) said: “O my Lord, help me as
they deny me and call me a liar”. |
|
27- |
So We revealed to him: “Construct and
build the ship under Our Direct Supervision and guiding
Revelation.
Then when Our Command comes and water gushes forth
from the baking ovens,
3
then take of each pairs (of your animals)
two pairs males and females and your family,
except those
against whom the Word (of punishment against them) was already
announced (to you) of their fate.
And don’t speak to Me (to
salvage and save) those who committed wrong behaviors
(by worshiping idols and doing other wrongs), they will definitely be drowned. |
|
28- |
And when you have boarded properly on the
ship, together with those who are with you, then say:
“All
praise to God, Who has saved us from the wrong-doing unjust
people”. |
|
29- |
Also say:
“O my Lord, cause me to land
down at a blessed place, for You are the Best to give a good
place to land and to settle”. |
|
30- |
In reality, in this (story of Noah and his
people), there are lessons
and for sure We are putting people to
the test and trial. |
|
31- |
Then after them, We created another
generation. |
|
32- |
We then sent a Messenger from among
themselves to tell them:
“Worship God only, there is no god
worthy of worship for you other than Him.
Aren’t you going to
take heed and be mindful?” |
|
33- |
And the chiefs of his people who
disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter
to whom We have
given ease and comforts of this life, said:
“This guy is
none but a human being like you, he eats of the same foods that you
eat and drinks of the same as you drink”. |
|
34- |
"And if you obey a person like yourselves,
then you will be the losers”. |
|
35- |
“Is he promising you that when you die and
become dust and bones, you are brought out (of graves alive)?” |
|
36- |
“Far out of question, so far-fetched is
what you are being promised”. |
|
37- |
"There is nothing but our life of this
world, we die and we live and we are not going to be raised up
resurrected”. |
|
38- |
“He is only a man who has invented a lie,
relating it to God and we are not going to believe him”. |
|
39- |
He (the Messenger) said: “O my Lord, help
me against their accusations of lie which they have against me”. |
|
40- |
God said: “After a little while, they
will surely become regretful”. |
|
41- |
So the blast (of Our Punishment)
overwhelmed them justly, and We made them like rubbish of dead
plants.
So away with those evil-doing folk |
|
42- |
Then after them, We gave rise to new
generations. |
|
43- |
No nation's term can advance,
nor can they delay or postpone it. |
|
44- |
Then We sent Messengers one after
another.
Every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they accused
him of lying,
So We made them follow one another (to death) and
We made them as history lessons.
So down and away with people who do not
believe. |
|
45- |
Then also We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Messages and manifest authority, |
|
46- |
To the Pharaoh and his influential chiefs,
but they behaved arrogantly
and they were people who glorified
themselves (above the Messengers of God). |
|
47- |
They said: “Shall we believe in these two
guys who are similar to us and while their people are our
obedient slaves?” |
|
48- |
So they accused both of them as being
liars, but they became of those who were destroyed (drowned). |
|
49- |
And indeed We gave Moses the Book
(Torah), so that they become guided. |
|
50- |
And We made the son of Mary (Jesus) and
his mother a symbol (of Our Grace)
and We provided for both, a
lofty place with lasting restfulness, tranquility, security and
flowing spring. |
|
51- |
(To each We said:) “O you Messengers,
enjoy of clean lawful provisions and foods and do righteous good
works.
Indeed I have full knowledge of all that you do”. |
|
52- |
And in realty this religion of yours is
one single religion and I am your Lord, so be mindful and
conscious of Me. |
|
53- |
But then, they (who have been supposed to
follow the Messenger,)
broke up their status of religion into
sects and groups among themselves,
each group being happy with
the ceremonies and beliefs available to them. |
|
54- |
So leave them in their confused ignorance
until a future time. |
|
55- |
Do they assume that just because We
provided them plenty of wealth and children, |
|
56- |
That We would speed up granting them on
every good?
Not so, but they don’t realize (that it is a test and
trial). |
|
57- |
Indeed those (others) who live in awe of
their Lord, being fearful (not to disobey Him), |
|
58- |
And those who believe in the Verses (the Messages) of
their Lord, |
|
59- |
And those who do not associate anyone or
anything in worship with their Lord, |
|
60- |
And those who give (in charity) of what they
were given,
while their hearts trembling at the thought that they
will ultimately be returning to their Lord, |
|
61- |
They are the ones who hasten usually in
good deeds and they are at its forefronts. |
|
62- |
And We do not task or burden anyone more
than his or her capability,
for with Us there is a Book which spells out the truth (about
their deeds)
and they (mankind) will never
be treated unjustly, none will be wronged. |
|
63- |
But (as to the unbelievers,) their
hearts are in a confused ignorance about all this (the Quran)
and they have
behavior and deeds which are other than mentioned above (regarding the
believers),
which they will continue to act upon, |
|
64- |
Until We seize those of them who are
given to luxuries and pleasures, to suffer, then they will cry
out praying. |
|
65- |
(They will be told:) “Don’t cry aloud
today, for you won’t get any help from Us”. |
|
66- |
“Time and time again My Verses (My Messages)
were being read to
you, but you used to turn back on your heels
(shunning and
refusing them with contempt)". |
|
67- |
“Feeling arrogant against them, talking
evil about it (the Quran) into the night”. |
|
68- |
Why don’t they ponder over the Word (of
God)?
Or is it because something came to them, that had not come to
their forefathers long ago? |
|
69- |
Or is it that they don’t recognize their
Messenger (Muhammad), so they reject him? |
|
70- |
Or else they say: “There is madness in
him”.
But he has brought them the truth and most of them
dislike and detest the truth, (therefore they reject him). |
|
71- |
And if the truth would have followed
their desires,
the heavens and the earth and whatever is within
them would certainly have been ruined in corruption.
But We
brought them their needed Reminder (for their own good), but
then they turn away and avoid their Reminder. |
|
72- |
Or do you (Muhammad) ever ask them for
any wage or expense?
(which you never do,) Since the wage from your Lord is
far better and He is the Best Provider. |
|
73- |
And certainly you (Muhammad) call and
invite them onto the straight, correct way of life. |
|
|
74- |
And for sure those who do not believe in
the Hereafter, are far astray, deviated from this way. |
|
75- |
And if We show them Mercy and remove
whatever distress had befallen them,
they would still persist in
their revolt and transgression, blindly wandering around. |
|
76- |
And in fact We seized such persons
through suffering and punishment,
but they still did not humble
themselves to their Lord and did not invoke Him for help in
distress, |
|
77- |
Until We opened up a gate of severe
punishment to them, then they broke down in despair. |
|
78- |
He is the One, Who created for you the hearing (ears) and
the eyes (the sight) and the mind (to perceive the
truth);
how little and so few of you give thanks. |
|
79- |
And He is the One, Who spread you on earth and unto Him you shall be gathered. |
|
80- |
And He is the One, Who gives life and causes
death,
and the alternation and difference of night and
day is all by Him (by His Command).
Will you then not use your reasoning and think about it? |
|
81- |
But (the unbelievers) say similar things to
what the people of previous generations used to say. |
|
82- |
They said: “When we are dead and become
dust and bones, are we going to be to raised up again alive?” |
|
83- |
“Indeed we and our forefathers had been
promised this before; this is nothing but old tales of ancient
times”. |
|
84- |
Say to them: “To whom belongs the earth
and whoever and all that is on it, if you know?” |
|
85- |
They will reply: “To God”.
Say to them: “Will you then not be mindful (of His Might and
His Words)?” |
|
86- |
Say: “Who is the Lord of the seven
heavens and the Great Dominion (of all that exists in the
galaxies)?”
4 |
|
87- |
They will say: “All that belongs to God”.
Say to them : “Why are you then not conscious (of Him)?”. |
|
88- |
Say: “In whose hand rest the sovereignty
and controls of all things and who is the One Who protects,
but there
is no protection against Him, if you know (the answer)?” |
|
89- |
They will say: “All that belongs to God”.
Say: “Why are you then deluded (away from His Guidance)?” |
|
90- |
But We did bring them (the Messages of
the Quran) in truth and they are the ones who are truly liars |
90-
|
91- |
Never did God beget or choose any son and
there is no one along with Him as God or divine.
(If there were
other divine entities, ) then each god would have taken what he
had created, trying to overcome others.
Glory to
God, He is beyond all that
they attribute to Him (such as son of God etc). |
|
92- |
He is All Knowing of the hidden and the
unseen and the visible.
Then (know that) He is above and beyond
all that they associate as partners to Him |
|
93- |
Say: "O my Lord, would you please let me see
what was promised to them". |
|
94- |
O my Lord, please do not place me among the
evil behaving people. |
|
95- |
(God saying:) "We are certainly capable to
show you what We have been promising them. |
|
96- |
(but you, the Prophet) Respond to their
misbehavior in the best possible way.
We know best what they make up and fabricate. |
|
97- |
And say: "I take refuge to You from the
influence of the temptations of the devils". |
|
98- |
And I take refuge to You my Lord from them
appearing in front of me. |
|
99- |
(They keep on with their evil behavior) until
death reaches them, at which time they would say:
"Our Lord, (o you angels), take me back to life, |
|
100- |
So that I may correct what I have been
negligent about.
(they will be told:) "No way, these are just some (vain) words
which that person is saying
(since if he is returned, he would repeat the same behavior
again),
and beyond their death, there is an interval period till the Day
(of Resurrection)
when they will be raised up again alive. |
|
101- |
Then when the trumpet (for Resurrection)
is blown,
there will be no influence of any relationship between
them,
nor will they ask about one another or each other any questions. |
|
102- |
Then those whose weight (of righteous
deeds) is heavy in the balance,
they are the ones who will be in
state of happiness. |
|
103- |
And those whose (good deeds) are very
light (compared to their evil deeds),
they will be the ones who
have harmed and lost their own personalities (and standings),
they will remain
in Hell for ever.
|
|
104- |
The Fire scorches their faces and they will
remain there, with their faces and lips grimly distorted. |
|
105- |
(They will be told:) “Were My Verses (My Messages) not
read to you, but you kept on rejecting them as lies?” |
|
106- |
They will say: “O our Lord, our evil
character and bad luck overcame us and so we went astray as a
group together”. |
|
107- |
“Our Lord, take us out of this (place and
condition),
then if we go back (to evil behavior), then indeed
we should be considered as unjust and evil-doers”. |
|
108- |
He will say: “Get lost into it, and do
not speak to Me (like this)”. |
|
109- |
(Remember that) They were certain people
of My servants who used to pray:
“O our Lord, we have believed,
so please forgive our sins and grant Your Mercy on us as You are the
Best Merciful”. |
|
110- |
“You then made them as target of your
ridicule,
to the point that your ridicule made you forget to remember Me
and My
Message, and you kept on laughing at them”. |
|
111- |
“I have rewarded them this Day for their
patience in times of hardship;
they are indeed the ones who have achieved
success in happiness”. |
|
112- |
He will say: “How many years did you
stay on earth?” |
|
113- |
They will say: “We stayed a day or part
of a day; but ask those who could keep account”. |
|
114- |
He will say: “You stayed only a little
while, if you only would have known
(how to behave in that short time on earth)”. |
|
115- |
“Did you think then that We created you
idly and for nonsense
and that you won’t be returning to Us (for
Reckoning)?”, |
|
116- |
So (know that) God is Supremely High, the
True King, the Ultimate Truth.
There is no real god except He,
the Lord of Dominion of all existence, the Very Generous. |
|
117- |
And anyone who invokes or prays to any
other god, besides God, has no proof for it,
then of course his
Reckoning will be with his true Lord.
In reality the
disbelievers will not succeed to attain real happiness. |
|
118- |
And say: “O my Lord, grant (me)
Forgiveness and Mercy, for You are the Best of all who show
mercy”. |
