Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
(Arranged in)
Ranks - Chapter 37
|
Contains 128 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the
Most Merciful |
|
1- |
Consider the good forces (the angels, the
Verses of the Quran, the believers) arranged in ranks and rows
to cooperate, |
2- |
Which subsequently keep away evil in an
effective manner, |
3- |
So as to read and convey the Message (of God
to mankind) saying: |
|
4- |
“That your God is really only One”. |
|
5- |
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all
that is between them and the Lord of all points of sunrises .
1 |
|
6- |
Indeed We have decorated the sky of the earth
with the beauty of the stars, |
|
7- |
And as a protection against all kind of
uncontrolled evil and satanic efforts.
2 |
|
8- |
They should not listen to the conversation at
the highest level
(the Commands of God to the angels and their obeying words) and
they will be chased away from all sides. |
|
9- |
They will have condemnation and deprivation,
and a constant suffering (for being deprived of God’s Mercy) |
|
10- |
But if one snatches away some news by
stealing, in that case a flaming missile will chase him. |
|
11- |
So (you Muhammad) ask their opinion (the
arguing disbelievers):
“Are they more powerful in creation or other entities which We
have created?”
In fact We have created them (mankind) of sticky clay
(substances of the ground and water). |
|
12- |
But contrary to your wondering (about their
stubbornness),
they make fun (at you and the Messages of God) |
|
13- |
And whenever they are reminded, they don’t
pay attention |
|
14- |
And when they see a Verse (of the Quran),
they try to make fun of it. |
|
15- |
And they even said: ” This is nothing but an
evident magic.” |
|
16- |
“When we are dead and have become dust and
bones, are we going to be raised up (resurrected) again?”. |
|
17- |
“And our forefathers as well?” |
|
18- |
(O Muhammad) Say: “Yes, and you shall be
humiliated”. |
|
19- |
It will be by a strong single sound (to raise
up all dead from the graves and dust),
then they will be staring and looking. |
|
20- |
And they will say: “Woe to us, this is the
Day to check one’s belief and religion.” |
|
21- |
(They will be told :) “This is the Day of
separation of good from bad, which you used to call it a lie”
|
|
22- |
(God will command: ) “Gather those who did
evil together with their likes and what they used to worship”, |
|
23- |
“Other than God and lead those on the way to
the flaming fire (of Hell).” |
|
24- |
“And stop them on the way as they must be
questioned:” |
|
25- |
“What is the matter with you, why don’t you
ask each other’s help?”. |
|
26- |
But on that Day, they shall surrender to God. |
|
27- |
Also some of them face others questioning
them; |
|
28- |
They will say: “You were the ones who used to
approach us with authority (teaching us wrong things)”. |
|
29- |
(To which) they will reply: “But you
yourselves were not believers.” |
|
30- |
“And we had no authority or force over you.
But you were yourselves people who were rebellious in your
behavior.” |
|
31- |
So now the Word of our Lord has been realized
and confirmed against us
that we indeed also have to experience the suffering.” |
|
32- |
“So we misled you because we in fact were
astray ourselves”. |
|
33- |
Then of course on that Day they shall share
the suffering |
|
34- |
Certainly that is how we deal with sinners. |
|
35- |
They in fact were the ones that when it was
mentioned to them: “there is no god but God (Allah)”,
they would turn arrogant. |
|
36- |
And they said: “Shall we leave our gods for
the sake of a mad poet (Muhammad)?”. |
|
37- |
But he (Muhammad) had come with truth and the
Messengers (before him) had also told the truth and he confirmed
them
(that there is no god but God) |
|
38- |
You (pagans of Mecca) are certainly going to
taste the painful suffering. |
|
39- |
And you won’t be punished and recompensated
except for what you had been doing. |
|
40- |
Except for the true dedicated servants of
God, freed from the wrong ways (which won’t be suffering). |
|
41- |
For whom there will be a known provision.
|
|
42- |
Pleasant fruits (of their lives' efforts),
and they will be honored. |
43- |
In the Gardens full of bliss (Paradise), |
|
44- |
Relaxing on comfortable couches, facing each
other. |
|
45- |
They will be served around with a cup of pure
drink, |
|
46- |
With special clarity, so delightful for those
who drink it. |
|
47- |
There will be no harm in it, nor will they be
intoxicated (or carried away). |
|
48- |
And they will have mates with modest gaze and
beautiful eyes. |
|
49- |
They will be delicate as a peeled egg. |
|
50- |
Then they (the inhabitants of Paradise) will
turn to one another, asking each other
(about their past lives), |
|
51- |
One would ask, saying: “I had in fact a
companion,” |
|
52- |
Who used to question: “Are you really one of
those who believe and confirm (the Hereafter),” |
|
53- |
“That when we die and become dust and bones,
are we going to receive reward or punishment
(for what we did during our lifetime)?” |
|
54- |
The person (speaking in Paradise) will say:
”Do you know of his (present) situation?”. |
|
55- |
Then he became aware (of his situation) and
saw him way down in the Fire of Hell. |
|
56- |
56. He will say (to that person): “By God,
you almost ruined me”. |
|
57- |
“And were it not for the blessing of my Lord
(to protect me from your doubts),
I would have been also among those who would be brought forth
for questioning”. |
|
58- |
(The inhabitants of Paradise) will say: “Are
we then not going to die (here in Paradise any more)?”, |
|
59- |
“Other than our first death (on earth) and we
are never going to be made to suffer?”. |
|
60- |
"Indeed this is the
great success". |
|
61- |
All those who are working, should work and
behave like this. |
|
62- |
Is that landing (in Paradise) better or at
the Zuqqum tree (from which the inhabitants of Hell will have to
eat)? 3 |
|
63- |
We have made it as a trying hardship for the
unjust evildoers. |
|
64- |
That is indeed a tree which comes out from
the bottom of Hell. |
|
65- |
Its fruit-bearing branches are similar to the
heads of devils (evil persons).
4 |
|
66- |
So they keep on eating from it filling up
their bellies with it. |
|
67- |
They also have on top of that to drink of
boiling water. |
|
68- |
Then their return is back to the flaming Fire
of Hell. |
|
69- |
They found their fathers on the wrong path, |
|
70- |
So they too kept following fast on their
footsteps. |
|
71- |
And indeed most of the people of the past
before them went the wrong way also. |
|
72- |
We indeed had sent messengers, warners among
them. |
|
73- |
So look at what and how was the end of those
who were warned (yet still went the wrong way). |
|
|
74- |
Except of course the true dedicated servants
of God, freed (from the wrong ways). |
|
75- |
And indeed Noah called on Us for help and how
real nice We answer requests. |
|
76- |
And We saved him and his family from the
great distress. |
|
77- |
And his children, which We let them to be
survivors. |
|
78- |
And We let a good memory of him to remain for
generations to come. |
|
79- |
Peace be to Noah (and his influence) among
all mankind. |
|
80- |
In fact We deal with good people in this
manner. |
|
81- |
As he was one of our truly believing
servants. |
|
82- |
We then drowned the others (who remained). |
|
83- |
And actually from among the followers of his
way, was Abraham. |
|
84- |
As he addressed his Lord with a pure and
devoted heart. |
|
85- |
When he told his father and his people: “What
is this that you worship?”. |
|
86- |
“Do you desire fake-gods, instead of God?”. |
|
87- |
“Then what is your opinion about the Lord
Sustainer of the worlds?”. |
|
88- |
Then he looked with a glance to the stars. |
89- |
He then said: “I feel sick and disgusted”. |
|
90- |
At which time they left, turning their backs
to him. |
|
91- |
Then (when the people of town had left the
town for an outing) he approached their gods and said:
“Why don’t you eat (of your worshiper’s offerings)?”. |
|
92- |
“What is the matter with you that you can’t
speak?”. |
|
93- |
He then turned upon them, striking them with
his right hand. |
|
94- |
Later on, (when worshippers found out what
had happened) they came toward him (Abraham), in a hurry. |
|
95- |
He told them: “Do you worship something that
you yourselves carve out?”. |
|
96- |
“Whereas God has created you and whatever you
make”. |
|
97- |
They said: “Build up a fire-pit (or pyre) for
him and throw him in the blazing fire”. |
|
98- |
So they intended a vicious plan for him, but
We put them all the way down
(by making their fire ineffective against Abraham). |
|
99- |
And (after his rescue by God’s will) he said:
“I am going to my Lord, He will guide me (on what to do next).” |
|
100- |
(And he prayed :) “O my Lord, grant me
(children) of righteous quality”. |
|
101- |
We then gave him the good news of a patient
and dignified son (Ishmael to come). |
|
102- |
Later on, when the son had become old enough
to share in his works and efforts, he told him:
“O my dear son, I have seen in my dream, a vision that I am to
sacrifice you (for God),
so consider what would your view be”.
He said: “O my dear father:“
Do what you are commanded (by God).
God willing you will find me as one among those who are
patient”. |
|
103- |
So when they both submitted themselves (to
the Will of God) and he had placed him down on his face, |
|
104- |
We called out to him: “O Abraham”. |
|
105- |
"You already have fulfilled (the purpose of
the test by) the dream.
We indeed reward the good behaving persons in this manner”. |
|
106- |
"Certainly this had been a clear evident test
and trial". |
|
107- |
And We granted him instead a great sacrifice. |
|
108- |
And We left his memory among the future
generations. |
|
109- |
Peace be upon Abraham. |
|
110- |
Thus do We reward the good behaving persons. |
|
111- |
Truly, he was one of our believing servants.
|
|
112- |
And We gave him the good news of Isaac (to
come and) to become a prophet of the righteous ones. |
|
113- |
And We blessed him and Isaac.
And from the descendents of them, there are those who have been
good behaving
and others who have been clearly unjust and cruel to themselves. |
|
114- |
We also granted Our Grace upon Moses and
Aaron. |
|
115- |
And We saved them and their people from the
great distress and calamity. |
|
116- |
And as we helped them, they then became
victorious. |
|
117- |
And We gave them the Book (the Torah) that is
intended to clarify. |
|
118- |
And We guided them into the right path and
direction. |
|
119- |
And We left good reputation upon them for
future generations. |
|
120- |
Peace be upon Moses and Aaron. |
|
121- |
That is indeed how We reward the good
behaving persons. |
|
122- |
They in fact have been from among Our really
believing servants. |
|
123- |
And Elias was indeed also from among Our
Messengers. |
|
124- |
When he told his people: “Why don’t you take
heed and be aware of God?” |
|
125- |
“Are you calling and praying to Ba’l (a major
idol statue they used to worship) and disregard the Best of
creators?” |
|
126- |
“God is your True Lord and the Lord of your
forefathers?” |
|
127- |
But they denied him and called him a liar.
Therefore they will certainly be brought (for questioning on the
Judgment Day). |
|
128- |
Except the devout servants of God, who lived
freed from their wrong ways. |
|
129- |
And We left a good reputation for him (Elias)
among future generations. |
|
130- |
Peace be upon Elias and his followers. |
|
131- |
Thus do We reward the good-behaving persons. |
|
132- |
He was in fact one of Our truly believing
servants. |
|
133- |
Lot also was indeed one of Our Messengers. |
|
134- |
(Remember) when We rescued him and his family
altogether. |
|
135- |
Except an old woman (his wife) who was among
those who remained behind. |
|
136- |
Thereafter We destroyed the rest (the town of
Sodom, in present Palestine). |
|
137- |
And as a matter of fact, you pass by them
(their ruins) in the morning (journeys), |
|
138- |
As well as during the night, aren’t you going
then to reflect (about their outcome)? |
|
139- |
Jonah was indeed also one of Our Messengers, |
|
140- |
When he ran to the loaded ship.
5 |
|
141- |
Then he lost the lot (to drop some person to
the sea, because of overloading,
to prevent the drowning of the entire ship) and he was then one
of those who lost (and were thrown to the sea) |
|
142- |
Then the big fish (a whale) swallowed him up,
while he was to be blamed
(for leaving his people without God’s permission). |
|
143- |
Had it then not been for the fact that he was
one of those who glorified God frequently, |
|
144- |
He would have indeed remained inside its
belly (of the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. |
|
145- |
So we cast him (out of the fish’s mouth) onto
the barren shore while he was sick. |
|
146- |
And we caused a spreading plant of pumpkin to
grow over him. |
|
147- |
And we sent him for the mission to a hundred
thousand people or more (later). |
|
148- |
They then believed and so We let them enjoy
life for a while. |
|
149- |
Now then (O Muhammad) ask their opinion (of
the disbelievers):
“Does your Lord have only daughters and they have sons (as they
imagine)?”. |
|
150- |
“Or did We create angels as females and they
had been witnessing it?”. |
|
151- |
Of course not, they indeed are talking from
their own fabrication. |
|
152- |
That: “God has begotten children”.
And of course they are certainly liars , |
|
153- |
Saying that “He chose daughters rather than
sons”. |
|
154- |
What is the matter with you?
How do you come to this conclusion? |
155- |
Will you then not think correctly? |
|
156- |
Do you have any clear proof (for your
allegations)? |
|
157- |
Then show it up in your Scripture if you are
being truthful. |
|
158- |
And they invented a kinship between Him and
the Jinn (all manners of invisible forces),
whereas the Jinn know well that they will be made to be present
(on the Judgment Day). |
|
159- |
Glory to God, beyond all that they describe
Him. |
|
160- |
Not so behave of course the true servants of
God, freed (from all that imaginations). |
|
161- |
Then certainly you (disbelievers) and all
those things that you worship, |
|
162- |
Can not fool anyone to fall prey to your
deceit, |
|
163- |
Except the person who is going to the blazing
fire (of Hell). |
|
164- |
(Furthermore the beings of nature glorify God
by saying:)
There is not even a single one of us but that has a known and
assigned place (of duty) to Him (by God). |
|
165- |
And we too are in fact ranked and
arranged in coordination (for specific duties). |
|
166- |
And all along we too are praising His Glory. |
|
167- |
While they (who deny the truth,) keep saying: |
|
168- |
“If only we had a Divine Scripture from our
ancestors”. |
|
169- |
“We would also have indeed been true servants
of God”. |
|
170- |
But they (who are presented with Divine Book,
The Quran,) deny its truth.
In time however they will know (what they had rejected). |
|
171- |
Furthermore, Our Word had long ago gone to
Our good servants who were sent forth (to present God's
Messages). |
|
172- |
That ultimately they will be the ones who
will be helped (to succeed). |
|
173- |
And that Our army at the end will be the
victorious ones. |
|
174- |
So turn away (O Muhammad) from them for a
while. |
|
175- |
And watch them, then they shall soon also see
(what they will be seeing and they can not see now). |
|
176- |
Do they now seek to experience Our punishment
soon? |
|
177- |
But when it descends in their middle (of
their courtyard), then it will be an awful experience to those
who were previously warned. |
|
178- |
So for now (O Muhammad), keep away from them. |
|
179- |
And observe, then they shall soon see (the
result also). |
|
180- |
All Glory is to your Lord, the Lord of
Almightiness and Honor,
(He is) Above and Beyond all what they describe Him. |
|
181- |
And peace be upon the Messengers (of God). |
|
182- |
And all grateful praise is due to God,
the Lord of the worlds and all that exist. |
4
The inhabitants of Hell eat the results of their devilish
thoughts.
