Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
Groups - Chapter
39
|
Contains 75 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the
Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
The Descending of this Book (the Quran to
mankind) is by God, the Almighty, the All Wise. |
|
2- |
We have indeed sent down the Book to you
(Muhammad) for the explanation of the Truth;
so worship God sincerely, with all faith unto Him. |
|
3- |
Be aware, all faith should be sincerely to
God only.
And those who beside Him, take others as guardians, saying:
“We do not worship them, except that they would cause us to be closer to
God”.
God certainly will judge between them about the matter in which
they have difference of opinion.
Of course God does not guide the one who is a liar and very much denies
the truth and is ungrateful. |
|
4- |
If God had willed, to choose or take a son,
He could certainly have chosen from those He created, whatever
He wanted,
Glory to Him, He is Limitless beyond all that.
He is God, the One, the Overpowering, Who holds dominion over all beings. |
|
5- |
He created the heavens and the earth for the
explanation of the Truth.
(by the movement of the earth) He turns the night into the day
and turns the day into the night.
And He made the sun and the moon to serve special duties, each
running till a predetermined point in time.
Be aware, He is the All Mighty Irresistible, the Very Forgiving.

2 |
|
6- |
He created (humankind) from a single
personality, then He made its mate from the same design
and He bestowed upon you, eight couples of cattle.
He creates you in your mothers' wombs in stages of creation upon
creation in triple darknesses.
Such is God , your Lord, the True Kingdom is His.
There is no one worthy of worship except He.
How is it then that you lose sight of the truth (and worship
others)?
3
4 |
|
7- |
If you disbelieve , then (you should know
that ) God has indeed no need of you
and He does not approve disbelief for His servants;
whereas if you show gratitude, because of that, He will be
pleased with you.
No person who is bearing his or her own burdens, shall be made
to bear the burdens (of sin) of another person.
Furthermore, to your Lord is your ultimate return,
He will then inform you of all that you had being doing (during
your life),
for in fact He is All Aware of the innermost in people's minds. |
|
8- |
And so is it that when some harm befalls man,
he would cry out to His Lord, turning to Him for help,
but when He readily sends a blessing from Him to that person,
he would forget what he was crying about to Him before
and would even assume rivals for God which would mislead
(people) away
from His Way.
Say: “Enjoy yourself in your thanklessness and disbelief for a
little while; surely you will be one of the inhabitants of the
Fire”. |
|
9- |
Is a person who humbly spends the night
hours, praying in prostration and standing,
being concerned about the life to come (in the Hereafter),
hoping for the Grace of his Lord (same as the disbelievers)?
Say: “Are those who know and are knowledgeable, the same as
those who do not know (the Truth)?
Of course only people with insight, keep this in mind". |
|
10- |
God saying: “O my servants who have believed,
be mindful of your Lord.
There will be goodness for people who do good in this world and
God's earth is vast
(move to another place if the present place is too adverse for
you).
Certainly those who have been patient in adversity will be
rewarded in full, beyond any accounting”. |
|
11- |
(O Muhammad) Say: “Indeed, I have been
commanded to worship God, being sincere in my faith in Him
alone”. |
|
12- |
“And that I have been commanded to be
foremost among those who submit their wills to Him, as Muslims”. |
|
13- |
Say: “Indeed I fear if I would ever disobey
my Lord,
with the consequence of the punishment of the Grand Day (of
Judgment)". |
|
14- |
Say: “God Alone do I worship, sincere in my
faith in Him alone”. |
|
15- |
"So (you disbelievers) worship whatever you
want other than Him".
Say: “The losers are those who lose their personal worth (by
worshipping other than God)
and they lose their families also on the Resurrection Day (by
misleading the family members).
Be aware, this is the (most) obvious loss”. |
|
16- |
Above them, they shall have coverings of
fire, and similar coverings below them.
With this, God frightens His servants (from committing sins).
Therefore O my servants, be conscious and mindful of Me. |
|
17- |
Those who avoid the evil mongers, to
prevent that they would be led to obediently worship them
and instead they turn to God, there is good news for them (of
the happy life to come here and in the Hereafter).
Therefore give the good news to My servants, |
|
18- |
Those are the ones who listen to what is said
and follow the best of it.
Those are the ones whom God has guided and those are the persons
with insight. |
|
19- |
On the other hand, could anyone, against whom
the Word of punishment is justified (be saved by man)?
Could you (Mohammad) even rescue one who is in the
Fire? |
|
20- |
But those who are mindful of their Lord shall
(in the life to come in Paradise)
have mansions raised high upon mansions, beneath which rivers
flow.
This is God’s Promise, God never fails His Promise. |
|
21- |
Don’t you observe that God is the One, Who
sends water down from the sky,
then He cause it to penetrate and travel though the earth in the
shape of springs and wells?
Afterwards by that water, He produces crops of different colors
out of ground,
then it withers and you see them turn yellow and in the end He
cause it to crumble into pieces and dust.
Certainly in this observation, there is a reminder for people
with insight. |
|
22- |
Is a person, whose heart God has opened wide,
to surrender self to God in Islam
and he is following the light of guidance from his Lord, (same
as a blind-hearted)?
Woe then to those, whose hearts are hardened stiff against all
remembrance of God.
They are in obvious error. |
|
23- |
God has sent down the Best of all statements,
in the shape of a Book (the Quran),
its parts consisting and resembling each other, repeating the
truths,
by which shiver the skins of all those who are in awe of their
Lord,
then their skins and hearts become calm and soften to the
remembrance of (the Grace of) God.
Such is the Guidance of God, by which He guides whomever that
wants (to be guided).
But whomever God lets go astray, that person, will never have a
true guide. |
|
24- |
Could then anyone who tries to avoid the
awful suffering with his bare face on the Resurrection Day
(the same as those who follow the Word of
God)?
On that Day, the unjust evil-doers will be told: “Now taste what
you have earned in your life time”. |
|
25- |
Those before them rejected also (the truth
of the Revelation)
whereupon the punishment came upon them from directions they
could not realize (from where and why). |
|
26- |
Thereupon God let them taste the humiliation
in the life of this world.
Yet their suffering in the Hereafter will be much greater, if
they only knew it. |
|
27- |
We have indeed presented for people many and
various examples and comparison in this Quran,
so that they might think about and remember them. |
|
28- |
A Reading in Arabic without any crookedness,
so that they might become mindful of God. |
|
29- |
God presents an example of comparison of two
persons;
a man who has several masters as partners who keep on arguing
with each other
and another man who has only one loyalty to one master;
are these two equal in comparison?
All grateful praise is to God.
Yet most people don’t realize this truth (and they keep on
worshipping other than God).
5 |
|
30- |
Certainly you (Muhammad) will die and of
course they (who oppose you) will die also. |
|
31- |
Then on the Day of Resurrection, you will
dispute before your Lord. |
|
32- |
Then who could be more wicked and wrong than
he who would utter a lie against God
and denies the truth (the Quran), when it has reached him?
Is there not in the Hell a place for those who deny the truth? |
|
33- |
But he who has brought the truth
and those who wholeheartedly accepted it,
those are the ones who are really mindful of God. |
|
34- |
They shall have whatever they want by (the
Grace of) their
Lord; such is the reward for those who do good (in this life). |
|
35- |
So that God may blot away from their records
the worst that they had done
and will grant them their rewards to the best that they used to
do (during their lifetime on earth). |
|
36- |
Is God not sufficient as a protector of His
servant?
They try to frighten you with those (imaginary gods that they
worship) other than Him.
So it is that whomever God lets go astray, will have no guide. |
|
37- |
Whereas whomever God guides, no one can
mislead that person.
Is God not Almighty, Capable of
Retribution? |
|
38- |
In fact if you ask them: “Who created the
heavens and the earth?”
They would surely say: “God”.
Say: “Have you then ever considered exactly what is that you
call upon other than God?
If God decides that a harm would happen to me, do they have any
power to remove the harm inflicted by Him?
Or if He decides a Grace on me, could those (imaginary powers)
ever withhold His Grace?
Say: “God is enough for me. In Him alone should place their
trust all who are looking for protection and trust". |
|
39- |
(O Muhammad) Say: “O my people, you act your
way and I do my way,
but in time you will get to know (the truth and the
consequence)”. |
|
40- |
"Who it is the one that when punishment
arrives on him, will humiliate him (in this life)
and a persistent punishment will be deserving on him (in the
Hereafter)”. |
|
41- |
We have in fact sent down the Book (the
Quran) on you (Muhammad) for explanation of the Truth for
mankind.
So then whoever chooses to be guided (by it), does it for his
own good.
And whoever chooses to go astray, does it against his own
interests;
and you (Muhammad) are not responsible or a guardian over them. |
|
42- |
God takes the mind (the consciousness) of a person at the time of
death
and He takes the custody of the mind of a person in sleep, who
does not die (during the sleep).
Then he keeps the mind of the person for whom He decided the
death on that person
and He sends the other minds (of sleeping or dozing person, etc)
back to them, till a time predetermined (by Him).
In observation of this process, indeed there are real messages
and signs of His Power for people who think deeply. |
|
43- |
Yet they assumed helpers-intercessors besides
Him.
Say (asking): “Even if they don’t own anything or have any power
and have no intelligence or presence of mind (to understand your
calls)?” |
|
44- |
Say: “the intercession altogether and
exclusively belongs to God
To Him alone belongs the Dominion of the heavens and the earth.
Ultimately, you all shall be returned to Him”. |
|
45- |
It is so that when the Name of God Alone is
mentioned,
the heart of those who do not believe in the Hereafter, become
cramped with disgust;
but when the names of other than Him (whom they revere or
worship) are mentioned, they then become happy. |
|
46- |
Say: “O God, the Originator of the heavens
and the earth.
The All Knower of all the unseen and all that is visible.
You will be judging between Your servants about all the subjects
and points in which they have had differences of opinion”.
|
|
47- |
And those who behaved unjustly (disbelieving
in God or doing other wrongs),
if they had all that is in earth and even double that much with
it,
they would really want to offer it to ransom themselves from the
grave suffering on the Day of Resurrection;
but there shall become apparent and evident to them from God,
the facts
(of the consequences of their actions during this lifetime)
which they had never been counting on or expecting them to be
accounted for. |
|
48- |
And the evil results of what they had caused
to be negative points for them,
will become apparent to them (on Judgment Day) and they will be
overwhelmed by the very truth,
which they used to make fun of. |
|
49- |
So it is that when harm touches man, he calls
Us for help,
then when We change his situation by a Favor from Us, he would
say:
“I have of course been given that by a knowledge (of mine)”,
not realizing that it is a test and trial, but most of them
don’t know and don’t understand. |
|
50- |
Indeed people who lived before their time,
said the same thing, yet all that they had achieved and earned,
was not good enough for their salvation (since it was not based
as good deeds for the sake of God). |
|
51- |
So the evil results of what they had earned,
hit them.
And all those who did injustice and wrong from among them,
the very consequences of their evil deeds which they earned,
will befall them and they have no way to escape. |
|
52- |
Don’t they realize that in reality, it is God
Who enlarges the provision and livelihood for whom He wills
and He also limits its amount (for whom He wills).
In observing this, there are messages and signs (of His Might)
for people who believe (in Him). |
|
53- |
Say (this Message):
“O My servants who have trespassed against your own interests
and selves (by committing sins),
don’t despair from the Grace and Mercy of God, as God indeed
forgives all sins.
He truly is Very Forgiving, the Most Merciful (to good people). |
|
54- |
And turn to your Lord ever again and submit
to Him (in obedience),
before the punishment (of your own evil deeds) comes back on
you, when you won’t be helped anymore”. |
|
55- |
And do follow the Best that has been sent
down to you (the Quran), by your Lord,
before the punishment comes upon you suddenly and you are still
unaware of it. |
|
56- |
This is to prevent that a person (forced with
his evil results) would have to say (on Judgment Day):
“What a pity on me for having been careless about God’s
Commandments
and that I was even one of those who mocked (at the Message of
God)”. |
|
57- |
Or that a person would have to say:
“If only God had guided me, I would definitely had been one of
the pious people”. |
|
58- |
Or that when facing the punishment, he or she
would say:
“If only I had another chance, I would definitely be a good
person”. |
|
59- |
But then My Message had reached you and you
denied it,
calling it a lie and you were arrogant and were among those who
denied the truth. |
|
60- |
And on the Day of Resurrection, you will see
those who lied against God, their faces will be darkened.
Isn't there in the Hell a proper place for those who kept on being
arrogant? |
|
61- |
But God will safeguard all those who were
mindful of Him, by their achievements.
No evil will touch them, nor will they have unhappiness or
sadness. |
|
62- |
God is the Creator of all things and He is
Domineering and Guardian over all things. |
|
63- |
The keys to control the heavens and the earth
are all His.
And all those who deny the Messages of God, they are the ones
who will be the losers. |
|
64- |
(O Muhammad) Say: “Do you order me to worship
other than God? O you ignorant people”. |
|
65- |
Whereas it has been indeed revealed to you
and to the Messengers before you,
that if you ever associate others with Divine Power, all your
efforts will be in vain and void
and that you would certainly be one of the losers. |
|
66- |
But worship God Alone and be of those who are
grateful to Him (for all the Blessings). |
|
67- |
And they did not appreciate God, as He should
be appreciated,
and on the Day of Resurrection, the entire earth will be in the
grasp of His Might
and the heavens will be rolled up by the Power of His Hand.
All Glory to him and He is High above all that they associate as
partners to His Divinity. |
|
68- |
A blasting sound will be blown and all who
are in the heavens and the earth will fall unconscious,
except those whom God wills.
Then a second time, the blasting sound will be blown,
then they will be standing, watching. |
|
69- |
Then the earth will be shining by the Light
of its Lord
and the Book (of everyone’s records) will be placed (for
judgment)
and the Prophets and the witnesses will be brought forward
and their situations will be judged upon and they will not be
wronged. |
|
70- |
And each person will be paid in full for
whatever (good or bad) he or she had done
and He is Best Aware of all that they do. |
|
71- |
And those who kept on denying the truth will
be driven towards the Hell in groups, till they reach it,
when its gates will be opened, and its keepers will ask them:
“Haven’t there been any Messengers from among yourselves who
came to you and
who read he Messages of your Lord to you and who warned you
about your meeting of this Day?
They will respond, saying:
“Yes",
but the Word of punishment has already been justified and
affirmed against the disbelievers. |
|
72- |
They will be told: “Now enter the gates of
Hell, to stay there forever.
And how terrible is the staying place of the arrogant people”. |
|
73- |
And those who have been mindful of their
Lord, will be led in groups to the Garden (of Paradise), till they reach it
and its gates will be opened and its keepers will say:
“Peace upon you, you have done fine. So enter here to stay
forever”. |
|
|
74- |
And they will say: “All grateful praise to is
God, Who has fulfilled His Promise
and made us inherit this vast land of Paradise in which we can
settle down, wherever we want.
And how excellent is the reward of those who labored (for the
sake of God). |
|
75- |
And you will see the angels surrounding and
circling from around the Dominion,
glorifying and gratefully praising their Lord.
And their fate (of all mankind) will be judged in truth and
rightfully and it will be spoken:
“All grateful praise is only due to God, the Lord of all the worlds
and of all that exist”. |
