Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
Consultation - Chapter
42
|
Contains 53 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the
Most Merciful
ذ |
|
|
3- |
In this way, the Almighty, All Wise
God sends Revelation to you (Muhammad)
just as He sent to those
Messengers before you. |
|
4- |
To Him belong all that is in the heavens and
all that is in the earth.
And He Alone is the Most High, the Most Great. |
|
5- |
The heavens could split apart from above them
at anytime (by His Command),
as the angels gratefully praise their Lord and ask for
Forgiveness for those living on earth. Be aware,
God is really Very Forgiving, Most Merciful (to good
people). |
|
6- |
As for those who assume other than God as
their protectors,
God is Ever Watchful over their behavior and you are not
responsible for them. |
|
7- |
And so We revealed to you (Muhammad) the
Quran, a Reading in an understandable Arabic,
so that you may warn first the main town (Mecca) inhabitants and
the people surrounding it
and warn (them) of the coming Day of Gathering of all (at
Resurrection), in which there should not be any doubt;
when one party will be in Garden (of Paradise) and another party in the
blazing Fire (of Hell). |
|
8- |
And if God had wanted, He could have made
them all (by force) one nation (with one and the same creed),
but He lets anyone who desires and whom He desires, into His
Mercy,
but the unjust evil-doers (with unreasonable beliefs and
behavior),
won’t have any protector or helper (in the Hereafter). |
|
9- |
Or that they assume others than Him as their
supposed protectors,
whereas God is really the True Protector
and He is the One who brings the dead to life and He is the One
Who is Capable to do anything. |
|
10- |
And in whatever subject matter you have
difference of opinion;
you should then refer to God’s Decision and Decree on that (in
the Quran).
Say: “That is God, my Lord, in Him alone I put all my trust and
I always return to Him
(for remembrance, for help and repentance). |
|
11- |
(He is) The Originator of the heavens and the earth,
He made mates from your own kind
and He made mates for cattle (and mammals) as well.
He multiplies you in that (pattern).
3
No one is like Him and He is All
Hearing, All Observing.
|
|
12- |
To Him belong the keys (to all secrets) of
the heavens and the earth.
He expands and enlarges the livelihood and the means for
whomever He wants or limits it,
as He indeed is All Aware over all
things. |
|
13- |
He ordained for you the same kind of religion
as He recommended to Noah
and it is the same what We have revealed to you (Muhammad) and recommended
to Abraham and Moses and Jesus,
that you should stand up for your religion and should not split
apart in it (don’t make sects).
It is a big problem for the polytheists, that (concept of One
God only, to which you Muhammad) call them.
God chooses and accepts to Him, whom He wants (and who wants a way to Him)
and guides unto Himself, whoever keeps on turning to Him (for
guidance, help etc.) |
|
14- |
Yet they caused divisions and split (into
sects)
because of selfishness only after the knowledge (of God’s
Revelations) had come to them.
And had it not been for the Word of your Lord to give them
further chance to improve themselves,
until an appointed term, their fate would had been already
decided upon.
And in reality those who were given the inheritance of the
Scriptures after them
(the Jews and the Christians of the time), are still in serious
doubt about it (the religion). |
|
15- |
So for this reason, invite them (to this
religion) and keep up doing so as you have been commanded
and do not follow their personal desires (which are contrary to
God’s religion).
And tell them: ”I believe in all the Books that God has sent
down
and I have been commanded to cause tolerance and justice between
you.
God is our Lord and your Lord.
We are responsible for our deeds and you are responsible for
your own acts.
Let there be no personal quarrel between us and you.
God will gather us all together (in the Hereafter and judge between us).
And the final return is to Him. |
|
16- |
As for those who keep on arguing about (the
Oneness of ) God after their acceptance of His Guidance,
(such as those Christians who say that they believe in One God
but in fact they assume Jesus,
the Prophet and the Holy Spirit :Gabriel as god also),
their argument is worthless before their Lord and they will be
subject to a wrath and will have a severe suffering. |
|
17- |
God is the One, who has sent down the Book
(the Quran) for (the explanation of) the truth
and for establishment of balance and justice in the society.
And what makes you know about?
Maybe the Hour (of Judgment) is
in the near future. |
|
18- |
Those who do not believe in it, oddly insist
for it to happen soon,
while those who believe, are worried about it (as to what will
be their judgment)
and they know for sure that it is the very truth.
But be aware, those who dispute and reject the concept of the Hour
(of Judgment in the Hereafter life)
are truly far into confusion and error. |
|
19- |
God is Kind to His servants (creatures),
He gives livelihood to whomever He wants and He is the Powerful
and Dominant Almighty. |
|
20- |
Whoever desires (by his or her deeds) the
reward and harvest in the Hereafter,
We give him (or her) further increase in his (or her) reward.
And whoever desires only the reward of this world,
We give him (or her) of that
but he (or she) won’t have any
share in the Hereafter. |
|
21- |
Or do they have gods, that they (the
polytheists) associate (with God),
which supposedly have made for them religions, rituals and
rules?
Some thing that God never allowed.
And had it not been for the decisive Word
(of God to give them chance to correct themselves), their fate
would have already been judged upon.
And certainly the unjust and unreasonable people will get a
painful suffering. |
|
22- |
You will see the unjust, unreasonable
(polytheist) people (on the Judgment Day)
fearful and anxious about what they had earned (i.e. their deeds
during their lifetime)
and that same result shall certainly happen to them.
But those who have believed and have done righteous good deeds,
will be in the flowering meadows of the gardens (of Paradise).
They will have whatever they desire, by their Lord. That is the
real Grand Grace. |
|
23- |
That is how God gives good news to those of
His servants,
who have believed and have done righteous good deeds.
(O Muhammad) Say:
"I do not ask you for any reward for this except for your
friendship and bond in kinship, for closeness to Me (God) ".
And whoever provides goodness, We shall increase goodness and
beauty for him in it
(his or her goodness and good deeds), as God is really Very
Forgiving and Very Appreciative. |
|
24- |
Or they (the nonbelievers) say: “He
(Muhammad) has invented a lie against God.”
Whereas (if you had done such a thing,) if God wants, He would
and could set seal upon your heart
(so that you would not be able to remember anything of the
Quran)
and He wipes off falsehood and brings the truth to be realized
(and understood) by His Words (in the Quran).
Truly He is Most Aware of the secrets in the hearts (of people). |
|
25- |
And He is the One, Who
accepts repentance from His servants and forgives sins and knows
whatever you do. |
|
26- |
And He answers (the calls and prayers of)
those who have believed and done righteous good deeds
and He increases for them of His Grace.
But for the disbelievers, there will be severe suffering. |
|
27- |
And if God had enlarged the means of
livelihood a lot for His servants,
they would surely do mischief on earth and therefore He sends it
down in a measure, as He wants.
He is of course All Informed, All
Observant over His servants. |
|
28- |
And He is the One, Who sends down the rain
after they have given up hope.
He spreads His Mercy and Grace,
and He is the True Protector, Worthy of all praise. |
|
29- |
And among His signs (of Majesty) is the
creation of the heavens (galaxies)
and the earth
and all the living creatures, which He spread
about in both of them.
And He is Most Capable in gathering them all up (on the
Resurrection Day) whenever He wants. |
|
30- |
And whatever calamity hits you, it is because of what your hands have brought about,
although He pardons so much. |
|
31- |
And you can not escape in the earth (from
God’s will).
And other than God, you have neither a protector, nor any
helper. |
|
32- |
And among His signs are the large floating
ships at the sea, like tall mountains. |
|
33- |
If he wants, He would stop the wind and they
become motionless and still on the back of it (the sea).
In this subject, there are certainly lessons for all who are
patient in adversity
and deeply grateful (to God for all the blessings). |
|
34- |
Or He may destroy them (by whatever
shipwreck) because of what they (the ship occupants) have
deserved
and yet He pardons much (of their bad behavior). |
|
35- |
And those who challenge Our Verses (of the
Quran) should better know that there is no place of refuge for
them
(from God’s punishment). |
|
36- |
So it is that whatever you have been given,
is but a temporary enjoyment during the life of this world,
whereas that which is with God, is better and more lasting for
those who have believed
and have their trust in their Lord, |
|
37- |
And those who avoid major sins and
promiscuities and those who forgive even when they become angry,
|
|
38- |
And those who respond to their Lord (’s
Commandments)
and keep up regular prayers and consult in their common affairs
among themselves
and give in charity from what We have granted them, |
|
39- |
And those who, when an injustice and wrong is
done to them,
they seek help and help each other, to defend themselves. |
|
40- |
And the retribution of an offense is one like
it, but whoever forgives and makes peace, his reward is by God.
He of course does not like the oppressors. |
|
41- |
And whoever seeks help to defend against the
wrong done to him, to such persons, there is no way (for blame). |
|
42- |
The way (to blame responsibility) is against
those who do wrong
and oppress people and cause mischief on earth, without any
justification;
those are the ones who will get a painful suffering. |
|
43- |
As for those who really show patience (in
adversity) and forgive,
that truly requires strong will in handling of matters. |
|
44- |
And whomever God lets astray, will not have
any true protector thereafter.
And you will see such unjust people, when they realize the
suffering, saying:
“Is there any way of return (to the worldly life)?" |
|
45- |
And you will see them brought to it (the
Hell), down in humiliation, looking around with hidden sideway
glances.
And those who have believed will say (regarding the
disbelievers’ situation):
“Certainly the real losers are those who lost their
personalities
(by worshipping and following other than God and His Way and by
preaching the same to their family members,)
they caused harm to their families, for the Day of Resurrection.
Be aware, the unjust (the disbelievers) are really going to be in
a lasting state of suffering”. |
|
46- |
And they won’t have any protectors or friends
to help them, other than God.
And so is it that whomever God lets go astray, won’t find any
way out. |
|
47- |
Do respond to the Guidance of your Lord,
before the time and the Day (of Resurrection) comes,
when there is no return away from God (and His Judgment).
You will have no refuge on that Day and no one and no way for you to deny
your records. |
|
48- |
But if they turn away (from you,
O Muhammad) then (you should know that)
We did not send you as their watchful protector.
Your duty is only to convey the Message (of God: the Quran).
And so it is that when We let a person taste a Mercy and
Blessing from Us, He becomes happy about it;
but when some hardship and difficulty hits them, because of
their own previous actions,
then in fact the person becomes very ungrateful. |
|
49- |
To God belongs the kingdom of the heavens and
the earth.
He creates what He wills.
He grants female (offspring) to whom He wants and grants male
(offspring) to whom He wants. |
|
50- |
Or He grants males and females together and
He makes barren (unable to produce children) whom He wants.
He indeed is All Knowing, All Capable Decider. |
|
51- |
And it is not supposed for any human being that God
would speak to him (or her)
except by Revelation (as in the case of the Messenger) or from
beyond a covering (of inspiration)
or that He sends a Messenger (like Gabriel to Muhammad), to
reveal by His Permission what He wants.
Truly He is Most High, Most Wise. |
|
52- |
And that way We have revealed to you
(Muhammad) a Spirit of Revelation (the Quran) by Our Command.
You had no knowledge of the Book or of the true faith,
but rather We have made it (the Quran) as a light by which We
guide whomever We want from among our servants.
And certainly you (Muhammad) are guiding (the mankind) towards
the correct straight path, |
|
53- |
The path and the way of God, to Whom belongs
whatever is in the heavens and the earth.
Be aware, ultimately all matters and affairs go back to God (for
His Decision). |
Known today as DNA in genes.
