Translation of the Holy Quran by Dr.
Gilani |
The Dunes - Chapter
46
|
Contains 35 Verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious the
Most Merciful |
|
|
2- |
The Revelation of this Book (the Quran) is
from God, the Almighty, the All Wise. |
|
3- |
We haven’t created the heavens and the earth
and all that is in between them
except for the explanation
of the truth and for a limited predetermined term.
But those who
disbelieve in truth, turn away from the very instructions and
warnings which they are given. |
|
4- |
(O Muhammad) Say: “Have you ever
observed all that you call and pray to, other than God?
Show me
anything that they have created of all the things on earth.
Or
do they have any share in the creation of the heavens?
Bring me any Scripture before this one or any source or trace of evidence of
knowledge (to support your claim)
if you are being truthful”. |
|
5- |
And who is more astray and deluded than a
person who calls and prays
to anyone or anything which does not respond to him, even to the Resurrection Day
and they are totally
unaware of their calls and prayers. |
|
6- |
And when all mankind are gathered (on the
Resurrection Day),
they (those to whom they pray and call) will
become their enemies and reject their worshipping them. |
|
7- |
Moreover when Our Clearly Explaining
Messages are read and recited to them,
those who rejected the
truth (the Quran) when it reached them, said: “This is an obvious
magic”. |
|
8- |
Or they say: “He (Muhammad) made it up”.
Say: “If I made it up, then you have nothing to defend me
against God’s Punishment.
He is Most Aware of what you (slander
and) talk to each other about it.
He is Enough of a Witness
between me and you.
And He is Very Forgiving, Most Merciful (to
the good ones)”. |
|
9- |
Say: “I am not a new kind among the
Messengers (of God),
nor do I know what will be done to me or to
you.
I only follow what has been revealed to me and I am only a
clarifying warner ”. |
|
10- |
Say: “Have you ever considered if it (the
Quran) is from God and you rejected it,
yet a witness from among the Children of Israel testified for
the same,
then he came to believe in (the Quran), but you arrogantly
rejected it?”
Of course God does not guide unjust wrong-doers. |
|
11- |
The disbelievers also told the believers:
“If it (Islam and Quran) were any good,
they (the weak and the
poor) would not have preceded us (in believing) in it”.
Yet, since they are not guided by it, they will say: "This [the
Quran] is an old lie". |
|
12- |
Whereas before this, was the Book of Moses
(the Torah) as a leader and guide and Mercy (from God).
And this
as a confirming Book (the Quran confirming what is available
from the original Torah),
in the Arabic language to warn those who do
wrong and injustice
and as a giver of good news to good behaving
people. |
|
13- |
Truly those who said: “Our Lord is God =
Allah”
and thereafter have stood firm (in their belief), shall
have no fear, nor sadness and grief. |
|
14- |
Those are the companions of Garden (of Paradise),
residing there forever, as a reward for what they used to do. |
|
15- |
And We have advised mankind to be kind to
his (or her) parents.
His mother carried him (or her) with hardship, and gave birth to
him painfully with hardship,
And his (or her) carrying and weaning from nursing took
thirty months;
till later he reached his full strength and forty
years of age, he would say:
“My Lord, grant me that I thank You for
Your Favor which You bestowed upon me and my parents,
and that I
will do good works which will please You and please make my
offspring good for me.
I have truly turned to You for help and I am one
of the Muslims (submitted to Your Orders)”. |
|
16- |
Those are the kind of people from whom We
accept the best of their deeds
and overlook and forgive their
bad behavior (which they had)
as they are going to be among the
friends of Garden (of Paradise),
a true promise, which they have been
given (by Us). |
|
17- |
(Contrary to such people, is) the person
who told his parents: “Uh on you both,
do you promise me that I
am going to ever get out (of grave and be ever resurrected),
whereas
many generations have passed before me (without being raised
from their graves)?”
While they (the parents) plead to God (to
correct and forgive their son) and say to him:
“Woe to you,
believe, certainly the promise of God is true”.
But then he says:
“This
is nothing but tales of ancient people”. |
|
18- |
They are the kind of people on whom the
Word (of God against them)
had been deserved and realized in the
previous generations among the Jinns and humankind.
In fact they
have been the real losers.
2 |
|
19- |
And for everyone and all, there are
degrees of standing, according to what they did (in their
lifetime on earth)
and He will of course repay the results of
their doings and they will not be wronged. |
|
20- |
And the Day when the disbelievers (in the
Oneness of God, His Messages and the Hereafter)
are exposed to
the Fire (of Hell), they will be told:
“You got your nice things
during your life of the world and took pleasure in them,
now
then you will be given the punishment of humiliation,
because
you were arrogant in the land without justification and because
you behaved against God’s Commandments". |
|
21- |
Mention also (Hood), the brother of the Aad people,
as he warned his people on the sand dunes (of
southern Arabia)
and of course there had been warners before him
and after him (all saying):
“Beware not to worship anyone but God, as I am fearful for you
about the suffering of the Great Day (of
Resurrection). |
|
22- |
They said: “Did you come to us to turn us
away from our gods?
So bring us what you threaten us with, if
you are being truthful”. |
|
23- |
He Said: “The knowledge when it will
occur is with God Alone and I convey to you what I have been
sent for,
but I noticed that you behave in an ignorant manner”. |
|
24- |
Then when they saw it as a dense cloud
approaching their valleys, they said: “This is a cloud, bringing
us rain”.
(They were told:)
Not so, but that is (the suffering) that you were asking
for,
it is a (ferocious) wind, in which there is a painful suffering. |
|
25- |
Putting down and destroying everything by
the Command of its Lord.
Then they became so ravaged that only
remains of their homes could be seen.
In that way,
We recompense the sinful people. |
|
26- |
And indeed We had given them things which We
did not give you
and We had given them the (same capabilities of) hearing and observations and hearts (to
feel the truth)
but neither their hearing, nor their seeing,
nor
their hearts did any good for them
as they kept on denying and
confronting the Message of God
and the very things (the punishment)
which they kept making fun of, encircled and overwhelmed them. |
|
27- |
And in fact We did destroy some towns
around you and We had explicitly shown (them Our) lessons and
Signs,
so
that they might (return to the truth). |
|
28- |
Nevertheless, why then those entities
which they had taken as means of approach (to God) besides God,
as gods,
did not help them?
On the contrary, they vanished from
their minds (when the punishment came).
And in that was their lie
and all the things which they used to fabricate. |
|
29- |
And mention the time when We sent some
of the Jinns to you, to listen to the Quran,
when they came in the presence of it, they said: “Be silent (and
listen)”.
Then when it
was finished, they returned to their people, as warners (to
them). |
|
30- |
They said: “O our people, we have indeed
heard a Book (the Quran), sent down after Moses,
conforming that
which is available to it (from the Torah),
it guides to the
truth and to the straight correct way”. |
|
31- |
“O our people, respond to the Caller to
God and believe in him (Muhammad as a Messenger of God)
and in
it (the Quran).
He (God) will forgive you of your sins, and will
save you from the painful suffering (of Hell). |
|
32- |
And anyone who does not respond to the
Caller to God,
can not escape the negative consequence (of his actions) on earth
and will have no protector other than Him.
Those are the ones
who are lost in evident error. |
|
33- |
Don’t they see that God, Who has created
the heavens and the earth
and was never tired by their
creations, is Capable to bring the dead back to life?
Yes, He
surely is Able to do all things. |
|
34- |
And the Day, when those who denied the
truth are exposed to the Hellfire, (will be asked:) “Is this not
real?”
They shall say: “Yes by our Lord”.
He will say: “Then
taste the punishment, because you used to deny it”. |
|
35- |
Therefore (O Muhammad) be patient as did
the Messengers of strong will (before you)
and be in no hurry
about them (the deniers, disbelievers).
It will be the Day,
when they see what they had been promised,
(it will seem to
them) as if they did not stay more than an hour of a single day
(on earth);
that is a clear message.
So then would any other
than the rebellious nation be destroyed? |
1
Abbreviation for the Mercy of God, to Muhammad (the Quran).
2
Jinns;
Intelligent beings, having choice, invisible to us.
|
|
