Muhammad - Chapter
47
|
Contains 38 Verses – Medina |
|
In
the Name of God, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful |
|
|
|
1- |
Those who refuse to believe and hinder
others from the Way of God,
He will make all their deeds
worthless and void. |
|
2- |
Whereas those who have believed and have
done righteous good works
and believe in that which has been
sent down to Muhammad, which all are true from their Lord,
He will forego their
past wrong deeds and will correct their situation. |
|
3- |
That is because those who disbelieve,
follow falsehood,
while those who believe follow the truth from
their Lord,
thus does God show people their examples (of
guidance or error). |
|
4- |
In the situation when you reach or meet the
disbelievers (who came to fight you in war),
then strike their necks
until you overcome them fully, then tighten the bonds (on the
captives taken);
thereafter (after deliberation) it is time to
free them either by an act of mercy or for bond-ransom
(for exchange of prisoners of war), until that the war’s burdens
are down.
Thus should it be and if God had willed, He certainly
would punish them (Himself),
but He lets you be tested, some
against others (in the struggle of good against evil).
And those who were killed in the Cause of God, their deeds will
never be lost or forgotten. |
|
5- |
He will guide them (to Paradise) and He will set
their situation right. |
|
6- |
And He will admit them into the Garden (of Paradise),
which He had let them know about it before. |
|
7- |
O you who believe, if you help (in the
Cause of) God,
He will help you and will make your footsteps and
actions firm and resolute. |
|
|
8- |
But as for those who deny the truth and
disbelieve,
they are doomed to stumbling into destruction and all their
deeds will be in vain and worthless. |
|
9- |
That s because they hated what God has
sent down as guidance,
so He makes all their deeds worthless and
waste. |
|
10- |
Why don’t they travel on earth so that
they could see the end of those (sinners) who lived before them?
God totally destroyed them.
And a similar fate awaits the
disbelievers. |
|
11- |
That is because God is the Real
Protector-Master of
those who have believed
and that the disbelievers have no real
protector. |
|
12- |
Certainly God will admit those who have
believed and did righteous good deeds,
into the Gardens (of
Paradise), beneath which rivers flow, but as to the disbelievers
who deny the truth
(of the Oneness of God, His Messages, and the
Hereafter),
they enjoy themselves (here in this world) and eat as animals and
cattle do,
and ultimately the Hellfire will be their staying
place. |
|
13- |
And so many towns, stronger than the
town’s people that drove you out,
which We destroyed and there
was no one to help them. |
|
14- |
Now then, is a person who is on a clear
guidance from his Lord,
like those whose evil acts appear fair to them,
and who follow their own desires and lust
(without respect for God’s Commandments)? |
|
15- |
The description of the Garden (of Paradise) which the
pious God-conscious people have been promised is that in it,
there are rivers of water, the taste and smell of which do not
change or spoil
and rivers of milk, the taste of which never
changes
and rivers of wine, delightful and delicious for those
who drink it
and rivers of cleared honey.
And in it there are all kinds of fruits and produce (for their deeds
in the worldly life) and forgiveness
from their Lord.
Are these people in the same situation as those who
shall stay forever in the Fire
and drink boiling water which will cramp and cut up their guts? |
|
16- |
And among them are such who listen to you
(Muhammad) till they go away from you,
they tell the folks who have
been given the knowledge (of the Message):
“What did he (Muhammad)
say just right now?” (as a matter of mocking).
Those are the
kind of people, whose hearts God has sealed off, as they kept
following their evil desires. |
|
17- |
Whereas those who accepted guidance,
He
increases their further guidance and grants them their nice
pious mindset and behavior. |
|
18- |
Are they (the disbelievers) waiting
other than the Hour (of Judgment) to arrive on them all of a
sudden?
But indeed some of its indications as well as its descriptions
have already arrived (in the Quran).
So when it does happen to them, how could their confession and
testimony at that time be of any use to them? |
|
19- |
So know that there is no god and no one
worthy of worship except God
and ask Forgiveness for your sin
and also for (the sins of) believing men and believing women.
And God
always knows all your motions, activities and your resting place. |
|
20- |
And those who have believed, asked : “Why
has a chapter not been sent (regarding defensive war)?”
But then
when a decisive chapter was sent down and defensives battle was
mentioned in it,
you saw the face of those in whose hearts there
is a disease (of hypocrisy and double talk),
looking at you with
the look of someone who is just fainting to death.
but it is
preferable to them, |
|
21- |
The obedience (to God and His Messenger) and
a good word.
Then when the decision was made regarding the battle,
if they had been true
to God, it would have been better for them. |
|
22- |
Would you then, if you were given power and
authority,
embark on doing mischief in the land and even
sever relationship with your close relatives? |
|
23- |
Such are those whom God has cursed and
rejected, so He makes them deaf and blinds their vision. |
|
24- |
Why don't they ponder in the meaning
of the Quran or is it that their hearts are already locked up
(and unable to perceive the truth in it). |
|
25- |
Certainly those who turned back away
(from Islam),
after the truth of the Guidance was demonstrated
to them,
Satan made it seem fair to them (to do so) and gave them false
hopes. |
|
26- |
That is because they told those who hate
what God has sent down (the Quran):
“We will obey you in some
matters”.
While God knows their secretive talks and thoughts. |
|
27- |
How will it be then when the angels of death
who take their souls (out of their bodies),
slap their
faces and their backs (the humiliation that they deserve). |
|
28- |
That is because they followed that which
caused God’s Condemnation
and that they hated that which was for
His Sake and Acceptance, so He made all their deeds worthless. |
|
29- |
Do those people in whose hearts there is
a disease (of hypocrisy and double-talk),
imagine that God would
not expose their ill intentions? |
|
30- |
If We had willed, We would have shown
them to you (Muhammad),
so that you could have recognized them
by their appearance; but you recognize them by the tone of their
speech.
And God knows all your actions. |
|
31- |
And surely, We will test you so that We
would disclose those of you who strive hard (for the Cause of God)
and who are patient in hardships and We will test information
about you. |
|
32- |
Of course those who deny the truth (of
the Quran) and hinder others from the Way of God
and give the
Messenger a hard time, after all that guidance has been
explained to them clearly,
they can not cause any loss to God at all, but
He will make all their deeds fruitless and worthless. |
|
33- |
O you who believe, obey God and obey the
Messenger (of God, Muhammad)
and don’t make your actions
worthless (by disobeying God and His Messenger). |
|
34- |
Of course those who denied the truth and
hindered from the Way of God,
thereafter they died while being
disbelievers, then God will not forgive them. |
|
35- |
So don’t show weakness and call for
peace, while you have the upper hand (in defensive battles);
God
is with you and He will never reduce the rewards for your
actions. |
|
36- |
Certainly the life of this world is only idle play and unworthy pastime.
But if you believe and live a pious
life, He will grant you your rewards
and He does not ask you for
giving up all your possessions. |
|
37- |
If He were to ask you for that and then
would pressure you, you would withhold miserly
and He would show
out your ill-wills. |
|
38- |
Be aware, you are the ones being asked to
spend in the Cause of God,
yet among you are those who withholds
niggardly.
And anyone who behaves niggardly, does so at his own
expense.
God is Rich and Needless, but you (mankind) are poor;
and if you turn away (from God),
He will bring other people in
your place, other than you, then they will not be the likes of
yours. |
