The Star -
Chapter 53
|
Contains 62 verses – Mecca |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
ذ |
|
1- |
Consider the shining star (of the gradual
Revelation), when it came down. |
|
2- |
Your fellow companion (Muhammad) has neither
gone astray, nor did he make any mistake (in perception). |
|
3- |
And he does not speak on his own desire or
wishful imagination. |
|
4- |
It (the Quran) is none other than the Revelation (from
God), revealed to him, |
|
5- |
Which the powerful (angel Gabriel) has taught
him. |
6- |
A being with much strength and knowledge, who
then stood straight. |
|
7- |
While he was in the highest level of the
horizon. |
8- |
He then approached and gradually came closer. |
|
9- |
Then he (Gabriel) was only about two bows’
length away (from Muhammad) or less. |
|
10- |
So God has revealed to His servant (Muhammad
through Gabriel) whatever He has revealed. |
|
11- |
The (prophet's) heart did not reject, nor
distort what he saw. |
|
12- |
Do you doubt and argue with him, about what
he saw? |
|
13- |
He indeed saw him another time during descent
(toward the Prophet Muhammad). |
|
14- |
Near the Lote tree, at the far end. |
|
15- |
Next to which is the garden of restful stay. |
|
16- |
When that which covers, (the splendor of
inspiration) covered the Lote tree. |
|
17- |
The sight (of the Prophet Muhammad) did not
get confused, nor went beyond normal perception and he did not
disobey. |
|
18- |
He indeed saw some of Greatest Signs (The
Revelation, the descent of Gabriel to him, etc) of his Lord. |
|
19- |
Did you observe Al-Laat and Al-Uzza (two
idols of the disbelieving Arabs)? |
|
20- |
And Manaat, the third other (idol, which you
disbelieving Arabs claimed as daughters of God)? |
|
21- |
Do males (sons) belong to you and females
(daughters) belong to Him? |
|
22- |
That would indeed be an unfair attribution.
|
|
23- |
That is nothing real, but only names by which
you call them, you and your fathers,
for which God did not send down any authorization or approval.
They (the disbelievers) are following nothing but a guess and that
which they themselves desire.
But guidance did come to them from their Lord (and they don’t
follow it). |
|
24- |
Is mankind supposed to have or to do whatever
he or she wishes? |
|
25- |
Whereas to God belongs the Hereafter and
(this) primary (world, it is up to God to
grant to people what He wants). |
|
26- |
How many of the angels in the heavens, whose
intercession does not help in any way,
except if God would allow it, for whomever (of His servants) He
would want and would be pleased with. |
|
27- |
Those who do not really believe in the
Hereafter (Life),
usually name the angels with female names. |
|
28- |
But they have no knowledge about it.
They follow nothing but a guess and of course guessing is no
substitute for truth at all. |
|
29- |
Therefore avoid anyone who turns away from
Our Reminder
and has no desire but the life of this world. |
|
30- |
That is all the degree of their knowledge.
Certainly your Lord is the One, Who knows best on who deviated
from His Way of Guidance
and He knows best who has embraced the Guidance. |
|
31- |
As all that is in the heavens and in the
earth belong to God,
such that He will give the result of their deeds to those who
did evil,
and reward those who did good with goodness (peace and
Paradise). |
|
32- |
Those who avoid major sins and illicit sex,
except for minor mistakes.
Truly, your Lord has Vast Forgiveness.
He has been Most Knowledgeable about you (what you would be),
when He created you from the earth (in the first place)
and when you were little fetuses in the wombs of your mothers.
So don’t try to show off your purity.
He knows best who is conscious of Him and adheres to His
Commandments. |
|
33- |
Did you (Muhammad) notice him who turned away
(from the Guidance). |
|
34- |
And he gave little in charity and then stopped
giving? |
|
35- |
Does he have any knowledge of the unseen
realities, so that he can perceive correctly? |
|
36- |
Or that in fact he is not well-informed about
the content of the pages of Scripture to Moses? |
|
37- |
Neither of the news of the pages of the
Scripture to Abraham who fulfilled
(God’s Commandment) |
|
38- |
With the explanation that no one who is
burdened with his or her own responsibilities,
should be further burdened with another person’s burden (of
sins). |
|
39- |
And that there is no reward for a person,
except for what he strived. |
|
40- |
And that his efforts shall be soon made
visible, |
|
41- |
Then he or she will be given the promised
reward. |
|
42- |
And that the Ultimate Destination is to your Lord. |
|
43- |
And that He is the One, Who ultimately will
make one laugh or weep. |
|
44- |
And that He is the One Who makes one die and Who
gives life. |
|
45- |
And that He has created pairs, as male and
female. |
|
46- |
From the semen plus ovum when it is
discharged. 1 |
|
47- |
And that another creation is up to His Will
(as to when and how it will be) |
|
48- |
And that He is the One, Who provides plenty
and satisfaction. |
|
49- |
And that He is the Lord of Sirius (a star
which the disbelieving Arabs used to worship, before Islam). |
|
50- |
And that He destroyed the former (sinful
inhabitants of) Aad. |
51- |
And (the sinful people of) Thamood, which did
not last or leave any trace thereafter. |
|
52- |
And the sinful people of Noah before them.
They were indeed more unjust, cruel and more rebellious. |
|
53- |
And He brought down and torn down towns
(of Sodom and Gomorrah, people of the Prophet Lot). |
54- |
So He covered them with that which He covered
them (with gravel, rocks, etc). |
|
55- |
Now then, which Favors of your Lord (in the
revelation) are you having doubt about? |
|
56- |
This (Prophet Muhammad) is a warner (a
Messenger of God) of the same kind of previous warners
(Messengers). |
57- |
What is imminent (the Resurrection) is
approaching. |
|
58- |
No one except God can make it apparent. |
|
59- |
Are you wondering about this announcement? |
|
60- |
And you laugh at it, instead of weeping (for
your terrible future)? |
61- |
And you are wasting your precious lifetime in
vain amusement? |
|
62- |
So put your head down in prostration and
worship Him Alone. |
|
|
