The Moon - Chapter 54
| Contains 55 verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
The Hour (of the End of the world) draws near
and the Moon breaks apart. |
|
2- |
And if they see a sign of miracle, they
disregard it and call it: “A persistent magic”. |
|
3- |
And they call (the Words of God) a lie and
followed their own lusts and desires.
And all matters shall be established and determined (by God
whenever and wherever He wants). |
|
4- |
And indeed enough news (of the previous
rebellious people) has reached them (via the Quran)
which should (generate in their hearts sobering points to) avoid
evil. |
|
5- |
With far reaching wisdom, but these warnings became
of no use to them. |
|
6- |
So turn away from them till the Day when the
Caller will call them towards a terrible situation (the Day of
Reckoning). |
|
7- |
They comes out of graves with eyes humbled down, as if they were widespread locusts, |
|
8- |
They quickly go towards the Caller; (at that
time) the
disbelievers will say: “This is a tough day full of difficulties”. |
|
9- |
Long before them (before these pagan Arabs), the people of Noah also
called (his words and the Words of God) a lie,
and they denied and rejected Our
Servant and called him: “A madman”.
And he became a cast away and
he was barred. |
|
10- |
And he called his Lord, saying: “I am
overcome and defeated, so please help me”. |
|
11- |
Then We opened the gates of the sky with water
pouring down heavily. |
|
12- |
And caused many springs to gush out from the
earth
then the waters (from the sky and the earth) joined together upon a
Command (of God), as it was decided. |
|
13- |
And We carried him on a ship, made of planks
of wood
and nails, |
|
14- |
Floating under Our Eyes (Our Supervision), as a
reward for him who was rejected (by his people). |
|
15- |
And We let it remain as a reminder.
Is there
then anyone who would heed (pay attention to it)? |
|
|
16- |
Then, how was My punishment which followed My
warnings? |
|
17- |
Also We have indeed made the Quran easy to
study and to remember; is there then anyone who would pay
attention? |
|
18- |
And the people of Aad also called (the Prophet Hood) a liar;
then how was My torment following My warnings? |
|
19- |
We, in fact, sent a howling wind against them
on a day of constant calamity. |
|
20- |
Plucking people off the ground, as they were
stems of uprooted date-palms. |
|
21- |
So then, how was My punishment following My
warnings? |
|
22- |
Also We have indeed made the Quran easy to
study and to remember; is there then anyone who would pay
attention? |
|
23- |
The people of Thamood also called the
warnings (of their prophet) a lie. |
|
24- |
They then said: “He is an individual man from among us,
who is (claiming to be a prophet), should we follow him?
Then, we would really be wrong, and we would be in error and
madness.” |
|
25- |
"From among us all, the Reminder was sent to reach him alone?
That is not so, but he is a boastful troublemaking
liar.” |
|
26- |
Next day, they got to know, who
was the real boastful troublemaking liar. |
|
27- |
We (told their Prophet Saleh that We) are
sending a she-camel as a test to them,
so (O Saleh) watch them and be
patient. |
|
28- |
And gave them notice that the drinking water
is to be shared between her and them.
Each drinking from the source of water, shall be by
turns. |
|
29- |
But they called their friend, who then
prepared and went after her. |
|
30- |
Then, how was My Punishment after the
Warnings? |
|
31- |
We indeed blasted them with a single massive
blasting sound,
they then became like the dry stubble straw,
which is used to feed and pen cattle. |
|
32- |
Also We have indeed made the Quran easy to
study and to remember; is there then anyone who would pay
attention? |
|
33- |
The people of Lot also rejected Our Warnings. |
|
34- |
We indeed sent upon them a violent storm of
gravel-stones (which destroyed them),
except the family of Lot,
whom We saved during the late hour of the night, |
|
35- |
As a favor from Us.
In this way, We reward those
who had been grateful. |
|
36- |
He had in fact warned them of Our
Seizure which would take place soon,
but then they kept on having doubtful discussions about the warnings
(to create doubts). |
|
37- |
They had in fact intended to embarrass him by
having an ill purpose on his
guests (the guests of Lot, by asking them for sex)!
So We blinded their eyes,
saying: “So taste and experience My Punishment and My
Warnings.” |
|
38- |
And indeed early in the morning, a persistent
torment overwhelmed them. |
|
39- |
“So taste My Punishment and My Warnings.” |
|
40- |
Also We have indeed made the Quran easy to
study and to remember; is there then anyone who would pay
attention? |
|
41- |
Warning came also to the followers of the Pharaoh |
|
42- |
But they rejected and called all Our Signs
and Advices as lies,
so We seized them by an Irresistible
Almighty Seizure. |
|
43- |
Are the disbelievers of yours (the pagan
Meccans) better than those before you?
Or do you have any
guarantee in the previous Scriptures (from God that they won't have similar
fate)? |
|
44- |
Or that they claim: “We are altogether and we can
defend each other.” |
|
45- |
Their entire assembly was to be defeated and
they would flee
and show their backs (in flight). |
|
46- |
But (beyond this punishment,) the Hour of
Reckoning will be the Time promised to them,
and that Time will be more grave and more
bitter. |
|
47- |
Certainly the habitual sinners are in deep
error and madness. |
|
48- |
In that Day, they will be dragged on their
faces
into the Fire, (being told: ) “Now, taste and feel the touch
of Hell fire”. |
|
49- |
We have truly created all things by certain
measures and rules. |
|
50- |
And Our Command is only by one single
order, to be
fulfilled like the twinkling of the eye. |
|
51- |
And We did destroy people like you; is there
then any who would heed (learn from this experience)? |
|
52- |
And whatever they did, is all in records of
their deeds. |
|
53- |
Everything, no matter small or large, all are written
down. |
|
54- |
Ultimately the pious, God-conscious persons
will be in the Gardens and by the streams (of Paradise). |
|
55- |
They will be seated in the seat of truthfulness, by the Almighty
King. |
|
