The Pleading Woman - Chapter 58
| Contains 22 verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
Of course God heard the statement of the
woman who was disputing with you about her husband
and complained to God and God hears the conversation between the
two of you.
Truly God is Ever All Hearing, All Observing. |
|
2- |
Those of your men who (by pagan tradition)
supposedly make their wives unlawful to themselves
(by just saying:) “Your back are like my mother’s back!”,
they are in no way their mothers, except the ones who gave birth
to them.
And of course they say nonsense and a lie.
And certainly God is
Very Pondering, Very Forgiving (if they repent). |
|
|
3- |
Also those men who make their wives
supposedly unlawful to themselves (by mentioning the words of
pagan tradition),
if later on they wish to undo what they had said, then they must
free a slave (as penalty) before they touch each other.
That is the advice for you (so you do not repeat those words).
And God is Ever All Aware of what you do. |
|
4- |
And if a person does not find the money or
the means to free a slave,
then must fast two successive months before they both touch each
other.
And if the man is unable to do so, then he should feed sixty
poor people.
That is for you to have faith in God and His Messenger.
And these are the limits and regulations set by God.
And for the disbelievers, there will be a painful suffering. |
|
5- |
Certainly those who oppose God and His
Messenger will be disgraced, just as those who did so before
them.
And indeed We have sent down clear Verses of Revelation.
Ultimately there will be a humiliating suffering for the
disbelievers (those who deny the truth). |
|
6- |
The Day when God will raise them up (from
death) altogether
and He then will inform them of what they did.
God has kept record of that, while they had forgotten it.
And God is the Ever Witness over all things. |
|
7- |
Don’t you realize that God knows all that is
and goes on in the heavens and all that is in the earth?
There is no secret talk of three persons, but that He is the
Fourth and neither of five, but that He is Sixth of them,
nor any less or more in numbers, but that He is always with
them, wherever they might be.
Afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of
what they did.
Truly God is the All Knowing of all things. |
|
8- |
Haven’t you noticed those who were forbidden
from secret gathering and whispering?
Later returning and doing the same thing which they were
forbidden from
and they get together to conspire to commit sin and animosity and
disobedience to the Messenger (Muhammad)
and when they came to you, they greeted you with such words
which God did not greet you with
and they say to themselves: “Why then God does not punish us for
what we say?”
Hell is enough punishment for them, which they shall reach.
And what an awful destination it is, indeed. |
|
9- |
O you who believe, whenever you gather in
secret whisper,
do not do it for committing a sin or disobedience to the
Messenger (Muhammad),
but do it for good cause and for piety (to God).
And always
remain conscious of God,
to Whom you shall be gathered (for Reckoning). |
|
10- |
Of course secret gatherings and whispering
are intrigued by Satan, to cause grief to those who have
believed,
yet he can not be of any harm to them at all, except by the
permission of God.
So unto God should the believers always trust. |
|
11- |
O you believers, When you are told to make
room for one another in an assembly, then do give room
(to others to attend it also); God will give you proper room and
opportunity.
And when you are told to rise up, then rise,
God will raise the degree of status of those of you who have
believed and those who have been granted knowledge.
And God is Ever All Aware of what you do. |
|
12- |
O you who believe, whenever you want to
privately consult the Messenger (Muhammad),
then give something in charity before your private consultation.
That is better and more proper for you.
But if you do not find (the opportunity to do) it,
then (you should know that) God is certainly Very Forgiving,
Most Merciful. |
|
13- |
Are you afraid of spending in charity before
your private consultation (with him)?
So when you did not do it (because of lack of opportunity) and
God has turned His Mercy on you,
then do perform regular prayers and give Zakat (pay the
obligatory charity),
and obey God and His messenger.
And God is Ever All Aware of what you do. |
|
14- |
Did not you notice those (hypocrites) who
take as friends a people upon whom God placed His great
disfavor?
They are neither of you (and your beliefs), nor they are of them (people
of previous Scriptures)
and they swear by telling lies and they know it. |
|
15- |
God has prepared a severe torment for them.
What they have been doing is indeed evil. |
|
16- |
They use their oaths as a cover (for their
lies) so that they could hinder others
from the Way of God,
therefore they shall have a humiliating
suffering. |
|
17- |
Neither their wealth and possessions, nor
their children can avert and prevent the punishment of God upon
them at all.
Those shall be the companions and inhabitants of the Hell fire,
in which they shall stay forever. |
|
18- |
The Day when God will resurrect them
altogether, then they will swear oaths to Him as they swear
oaths to you
and they think they could accomplish something.
Beware that they are the liars. |
|
19- |
Satan has overpowered them, so that he made
them forget the remembrance of God.
Those are the party (followers) of Satan.
Be aware, the party of Satan are the losers. |
|
20- |
Those who oppose God and His Messenger, they
are going to be among the most humiliated ones. |
|
21- |
God has decreed: “Certainly I and My
Messengers shall always be victorious”.
Indeed God is the Almighty, the Irresistible. |
|
22- |
You will never find a people who really
believe in God and the Hereafter Day (of Judgment),
who would make friendship with those who oppose God and His
Messenger,
even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers
or their folks people.
To such persons, He has written up Faith in their hearts and has
strengthened them with a strong spirit from Himself.
He will also admit them to Gardens (of Paradise), down where
streams and rivers flow to stay there forever.
God is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him.
They are the party of God.
Be aware the party of followers of God are going to be the real
successful ones. |
