The Gathering - Chapter 59
| Contains 24 verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
Whatever is in the heavens and the earth
glorifies the Majesty of God.
And He is the Almighty, the
All Wise. |
|
2- |
He is the One, Who drove out those who
disbelieved from among the people of Scripture
(those Jews of the Banu An Nadir tribe who chose hostility
against the Prophet Muhammad and the Muslims of Medina)
from their homes at the first gathering and encounter.
You did not think that they would get out (out of their
fortresses).
And they thought that their fortresses would defend them from
God.
But God reached them from a place and in such a way which they
did not calculate (anticipate or expected).
And He threw fear in their hearts, so that they destroyed their
homes with their own hands
and with the hands of the believers.
So take notice, o you people with insight. |
|
3- |
And had it not been for the Decree of God
upon them to be exiled,
He would have certainly punished them severely in the world,
and
in the hereafter, they shall have the suffering of the Fire. |
|
4- |
That is because they seriously opposed God
and His Messenger.
And whoever strongly opposes God, then should know that God is
Severe in punishment. |
|
5- |
Whatever palm trees you cut or left them
standing on their stems (on their places),
was all by the permission of God and for the humiliation of the
rebellious evil mongers. |
|
6- |
And whatever God gave as booty to His
Messenger, you were not the ones who made any effort in battle,
on horse, or on camels for it, but God gives to His Messengers
dominance over whomever He wills.
And God is the ultimate Determinant over all matters. |
|
7- |
Whatever God gave (as booty) to His Messenger
(Muhammad) from the people of the townships
those are to be used for the Cause of God and for the Messenger
and for the relatives and for orphans,
the poor people and the stranded traveler, so that it would not
become additional wealth among your rich people.
And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it and whatever he
forbids you, avoid it. And be ever so conscious of God.
Truly God is Severe in punishment. |
|
8- |
(There should also be a share of the booty)
For the poor emigrants who were expelled (forced to leave) their
homes
and their property, seeking a Favor from God and His Pleasure,
while helping the Cause of God and His Messenger.
Those are the real truthful ones. |
|
9- |
Also for those who before them had homes (in
Medina), and embraced the faith,
they
love those who immigrated to them (fleeing the pagans of Mecca)
and have no desire for what they (the immigrant poor) were given
(from the booty)
and give them even preference over themselves, even though they
could deserve receiving help.
And whoever is freed from the control of his own desire, such
persons are the true successful ones. |
|
10- |
And those who came after them, saying: “Our
Lord, forgive us and our brothers (in faith) who preceded in
Faith
and do not let any bad feelings be in our hearts against those
who have believed.
Our Lord, You are indeed Very kind, Most merciful.” |
|
11- |
Didn’t you observe those hypocrites who tell
their friends among those who have disbelieved
from the people of the Scripture: “If you are expelled (from
townships of Medina),
we too will surely go out with you and we shall never obey
anyone ever against you
and if you are attacked,
we shall certainly help you.”
But God is Witness that they are
really liars. |
|
12- |
If they are expelled, they won't go out with
them and if they are fought against,
they will not help them even if they would start supporting
them,
they will turn their backs and thereafter they will not be
helped. |
|
13- |
In fact you (Muslims) are more awesome in
their hearts (of Jews of Banu An Nadir who fought you) than God.
That is because they are the type of people who do not
comprehend (the Power of God). |
|
14- |
They do not fight against you altogether,
except in the towns protected by walls or from beyond the walls.
Their hostility among themselves is serious.
You would think that they are united together, but their hearts
are divided.
That is because they are a people who don’t use their reasoning. |
|
15- |
They are like the people who were before
them.
They tasted the evil result of their behavior and they will have
a painful suffering also (in the Hereafter). |
|
16- |
This is similar to the story Satan, when he
told man to deny the truth and defy God,
but when man denied the truth, he said: “I am not responsible
for you. In fact I fear God, the Lord of all that exist". |
|
17- |
So the end of both of them will be that they
both will be in the Fire (of Hell), staying there forever.
And such is the result of deeds of the unjust evildoers
(disbelievers). |
|
18- |
O you who believe,
Be ever conscious of God and every person should care what
person has sent ahead for the (future) tomorrow
(for the Hereafter life). And be ever so conscious of God, for
God is fully Aware of what you do. |
|
19- |
And don’t be like those who forgot God, so He
let them forget their own personal welfare and future.
Those are the ones who are morally corrupt and disobedient (to
God). |
|
20- |
The inmates of the Fire (of Hell) are not
equal or same as the companions of the Garden (of Paradise).
The companions Garden (of Paradise) are the real successful ones. |
|
21- |
Had we sent this Quran on a mountain, you
would surely have seen it humbled, going to pieces in awe of
God!
And such examples We present to people, so that they might think
about it. |
|
22- |
He is God, beside whom there is no entity
worthy of worship, other than Him,
the All Knowing of all the unseen and all the visible.
He is the Most gracious, the Most Merciful. |
|
23- |
He is God, besides whom there is no one
worthy of worship, other than Him,
the True King,
the Most Holy,
the Source of Peace, the Giver of Security,
the Watcher over His creatures,
the Almighty Irresistible,
the Compeller, Forceful Enforcer, the Most Supreme.
All glory to God as He is beyond all partners which they
associate with Him. |
|
24- |
He is God, the Creator, the Designer and
Inventor (from nothingness),
the Giver of forms and shapes.
He has many beautiful Names.
Whatever is in the heavens and the earth revolve glorifying Him.
And He is the Almighty Irresistible, the All Wise. |
