The Examined Woman - Chapter 60
| Contains 13 verses – Medina |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
You who believe, do not take My enemies and
your enemies (the pagans) as friends,
reaching to them with acts of friendship, while they deny and
disbelieve in the Revelation
which has come to you as the truth (in the Quran),
they are attempting to
drive the Messenger and you out of your home town,
just because
you believe in God, your Lord.
If you are going out of town, striving in My Cause and seeking
My acceptance,
you still insist in showing them your friendship in secret,
while I am fully
Aware of what you hide and what you reveal.
And whoever of you
(Muslims) does that, then he or she has gone away from the right
path. |
|
2- |
If they ever get upper hand over you, they
would behave as your enemies
and they will stretch their arms
and their tongues against you with evil intent and they wish
that you would disbelieve also. |
|
3- |
Neither your relatives, nor your children
could benefit you on the Day of
Resurrection.
He will judge between you separately and God is
Ever All Observant on what you do. |
|
4- |
Indeed, in the behavior of Abraham and those
who were with him, there has been an excellent role-model
for you,
as they told their people: ” We are indeed free and detached from
you and all those things that you worship, other than God,
we
reject your behavior and an opposition and hatred has started
between us and you forever,
unless you would believe in the One God (The
Creator),
an exception to this attitude was Abrahams talking to
his father (when he said):
“Certainly, I shall ask forgiveness from God for you, but I can
not change any Decision which God makes about you.
Our Lord, We fully trust in You, to You do we turn (for
Forgiveness) and unto You is our final return.” |
|
5- |
“Our Lord, Please do not have us as an
object of trial for those who disbelieve and deny the truth
(which came from You),
and forgive us, Our Lord,
Truly You alone are the Almighty – Irresistible, the All-Wise.” |
|
6- |
Indeed, there has been an excellent example
for you in them, for anyone who would look forward to God
(for
everything good) and towards the Last Day (before the Judgment).
And whoever turns away from this, then (should know that) God is
the All Rich,
Needless of anything and Worthy of all Praises. |
|
7- |
There is a possibility that God will cause
friendship between you and those from whom you felt hostility.
And God is the All Powerful and Determinant.
And God is the Ever
Very Forgiving, the Most Merciful. |
|
8- |
God does not forbid you to be kind and fair
towards those ho do not fight against you,
because of your
religion, nor drive you out of your homes.
Indeed God loves fair
persons. |
|
9- |
But of course, God forbids you to make
friendship with those who came to fight against you
and drove
you out of your homes and those who helped them to drive you out
of your homes.
And whoever
befriends them, then such people are unjust and cruel. |
|
10- |
O you who believe, When believing ladies come
to you as immigrants, then test them.
God knows best about their faith.
Then when you make sure that they are really believers, do not
send them back to the disbelievers.
They are not lawful wives to them (the disbelievers any more),
nor are
the disbelievers lawful (husbands) for them (anymore).
But do give them (the disbelievers) the amount of money that
they spent (on them)
And there is no sin for you to marry them (the believing women,)
when you have given them their amount of dowry.
On the other hand, do not keep as wives the disbelieving women,
sinfully,
and ask back (from them) what you gave (them),
also let the disbelievers ask for the return of what they spent
(before their wives became Muslim and married you).
That
is the Commandment of God regarding your relationships.
And God knows
best and He is the All Wise. |
|
11- |
And if you lose any of your wives to the
disbelievers, (if they leave you to go to disbelievers)
then if you received some booty, (you
asked them to return the amount of dowry that you paid them),
then pay (from the booty) those believers whose wives have
gone away from them,
the equivalent amount, which they had spent (as dowry).
And always be aware and conscious
of God, in Whom you believe (act upon His Commandments).
1 |
|
12- |
O you Prophet, When believing women come to
you to pledge to you (their allegiance)
that they will not associate anything in worship to God
and that they won't
steal or commit illegal sex,
that they won't kill their children
and will not falsely accusing a man (to be the father of their
own children who is not their father,
the child that they have produced) between their arms and legs
and they will not disobey you in the
commonly known Islamic Law,
then accept their pledges and ask
God to forgive them (for whatever past misdeeds).
Truly God is Very Forgiving, Most Merciful. |
|
13- |
O you who believe, do not befriend a people
on whom God’s wrath (great disfavor) occurred,
since they have really no hope or any belief in
the Hereafter life,
they are similar to the disbeliever who have no hope
or belief regarding
(the resurrection of) the dead bodies who are in the graves. |
1- These Verses besides many other Verses in the Quran show us the
truly peaceful nature of Islam, allowing only defensive battles and to
have fair and peaceful dealings after hostilities have ended.
