The Ways of upward
Progress - Chapter 70
|
Contains 44 verses – Makka |
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
1- |
A questioner asked about the suffering that
will occur, |
|
2- |
Upon the disbelievers, which no one can stop
it, |
|
3- |
Coming from God, who has made possible the
capabilities of ascent and upward progress. |
|
4- |
The angels and the spirit (Gabriel) will
ascend toward Him
during a period of fifty thousand years. |
|
5- |
Therefore (O Muhammad) be patient with
a great patience. |
|
6- |
They (the disbelievers-sinners) in fact see
it (the punishment to come) to be very far away. |
7- |
But We see it very near. |
|
8- |
The Day when the sky will be like boiling oil
or molten copper (metal). |
|
9- |
And the mountains will become like flakes of
wool. |
|
10- |
And no friend will ask about his friend. |
|
11- |
They will be brought to see one another.
The sinner-criminal would wish if he could ransom his children
to free himself on that Day, |
12- |
Also his wife and his brother, |
|
13- |
And his relatives who gave him shelter (on
earth), |
|
14- |
And all those who were on earth, so that it
would save him and set him free. |
15- |
But no way, it will be the Fire of Hell. |
16- |
Burning away the scalp. |
|
17- |
That (Fire) calls in those who turned their
back and turned away (from God’s Guidance). |
18- |
And accumulated wealth and hid it (from
spending in God’s Cause). |
|
19- |
Indeed, the humankind is created impatient. |
|
20- |
He whines when any hardship occurs to him,
|
|
21- |
And he is stingy when plenty good happens to
him. |
22- |
Except those who pray frequently, |
|
23- |
Those who are steady and regular on their
prayers, |
|
24- |
And those in whose wealth there is a known
rightful amount, |
|
25- |
For the beggars who ask and for the deprived
(who are ashamed to ask). |
|
26- |
And those who confirm their belief in the Day
of Religion (the Day of Reckoning-Judgment). |
|
27- |
And those who are worried about the
punishment of their Lord. |
|
28- |
Since the punishment of their Lord is such
that none can be secure against it. |
|
29- |
And those who guard their private parts (of
their bodies), |
|
30- |
Except with their spouses or with those
(captive women) whom they have taken the charge of their care
(such as widows or women whose husbands perished in battles,
which they have married them to care for them and for their
orphans),
in which cases they are of course not to be blamed for. |
|
|
31- |
But whoever seeks (to go) beyond that, then they
are considered as trespassers (of God’s Commandments). |
|
32- |
And those who are faithful with their trusts
and their promises, |
|
33- |
And those who stand firm in their
testimonies, |
|
34- |
And those who preserve their prayers
(regularly). |
|
35- |
Such will be living in the Gardens (of
Paradise), with honor. |
|
36- |
So what is the matter with those disbelievers
who rush in
front of you,
|
|
37- |
Coming in groups from the right and from the left? |
|
38- |
Does any of those men long for entering the
Blissful Paradise? |
|
39- |
No way (they will never enter Paradise).
We have created them from that which they know what (yet they
are very arrogant) . |
|
40- |
So I am not going to swear by the Lord of the
easts and the wests.
We certainly are Well Capable, |
|
41- |
To (destroy and) replace them with others
better ones than them
and We are not to be outrun (they can’t get away from Our
Grasp). |
|
42- |
So leave them with their talking nonsense
and game-playing,
until they will meet their Day (in Court) which they are
promised. |
|
43- |
The Day when they get out of graves quickly
as if they are racing to certain goals. |
|
44- |
Their eyes humbled down, a humiliation
overwhelming them,
that is the Day which they were being promised. |
|
