The Sudden Separations
with Ascents - Chapter 79
| Contains 46 verses – Makka
|
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
1- |
Consider the sudden swift separations and ascents
with subsequent setting and drowning.
1 |
2- |
And consider the great happiness of those
with steady motion. |
3- |
And those with constant floating, |
4- |
With subsequent speedy passing and overtaking. |
|
5- |
Thus accomplishing the Command (of
God). |
|
6- |
The Day when a violent convulsion and shaking
occurs, |
7- |
To be followed by aftershocks. |
|
8- |
On that Day, hearts will shake with fear. |
9- |
Their eyes will be humbled down, |
|
10- |
They (the disbelievers) say: “Are we really
going to return back
into (our) previous state of life?” |
|
11- |
“Even though we were crumbled bones?” |
|
12- |
They say: “That will be then a return with
loss”. |
|
13- |
That happens then with a single blast, |
|
14- |
When they find themselves awakened, alive
again, after their death. |
|
15- |
Has the story of Moses reached you? |
|
16- |
When his Lord called him on a sacred valley
of Tuwaa. |
|
17- |
“Go to the Pharaoh, he has indeed violated
the limits”. |
|
18- |
Then tell him: “Would you like to cleanse yourself
from disbelief and sins?” |
|
19- |
“And that I could guide you to your True
Lord, so that you would be in awe and fear of Him?” |
|
20- |
He (Moses) then showed him the great miracle. |
21- |
But (the Pharaoh) still rejected and
disobeyed. |
22- |
He then turned his back and further made
efforts (against God). |
23- |
Then he gathered the people and called aloud; |
|
24- |
Then he said: “I am your lord, most high”. |
|
25- |
So God seized him for his last (great sin,
for saying that) and for previous transgressions
(punishing him in the Hereafter and in this world). |
|
26- |
Certainly in this story lies a lesson for
anyone who is in awe and fear (of God). |
|
27- |
Are you harder in Creation or the sky
which He built? |
|
28- |
He raised its height and regulated it. |
|
29- |
He covers it with darkness at night and
brought back its daylight. |
|
30- |
Furthermore He spread out the earth after
that. |
|
31- |
He brought out its water from it and its
pasture. |
32- |
And the mountains, He made them firm. |
|
33- |
As a means of livelihood for you and for your
cattle. |
|
34- |
Then when the Great Catastrophe arrives (at
the end of this worldly life), |
|
35- |
That Day every person shall remember what he
(or she) strove for. |
|
36- |
And the Hell Fire shall be made apparent for
anyone to see. |
37- |
Then as for the person who violated (the Laws
of God), |
|
38- |
And had preferred the life of this world
(following his lust and doing evil), |
|
39- |
Then his (or her) staying place will be the
Hell Fire. |
|
40- |
But as for the person who had feared the
Presence of his Lord
and had forbidden his (or her) soul from following evil desires
and lusts, |
|
41- |
Then of course the Garden (of Paradise) will be his (or
her) staying place. |
|
42- |
They ask you (Muhammad) about the Hour, when
will be its appointed time? |
|
43- |
What knowledge do you have about this subject
to say something about it. |
|
44- |
To your Lord belongs the knowledge of its
ultimate Time. |
|
45- |
You are only a warner for those who are very
concerned about it and fear it. |
|
46- |
The Day when they notice it, it will be as if
they did not linger, but only an evening or a morning
(in their worldly life and in their graves). |
1-
Some translators translated above five Verses referring them to
angels in the female gender whereas God Almighty never referred
to the angels as being female. So those translations are not
acceptable. In these first five Verses Almighty God is drawing
our attention to phenomena such as the sudden rise and latter
setting and literally drowning of them behind the horizon and
their very fast movement similar to being in the state of
happiness and their taking over and passing other stars.
