The Most High
- Chapter 87
| Contains 19 verses – Medina |
|
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ
الرَّحِيمِ |
|
|
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful |
|
|
سَبِّحِ اسْمَ
رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى |
|
|
1- |
Glorify your Lord by praising the Name of
your Lord, the Most High. |
|
2- |
The One Who has created (the universe) and gave
it its (magnificent) due shape and proportion. |
|
وَالَّذِي
قَدَّرَ فَهَدَى |
|
|
3- |
And Who put measure to everything and guided
it to function properly. |
|
وَالَّذِي
أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَى |
|
|
4- |
And Who causes the pasture grass to grow out
of the ground. |
|
فَجَعَلَهُ
غُثَاء أَحْوَى |
|
|
5- |
He later makes it as a dried dark hay. |
|
سَنُقْرِؤُكَ
فَلَا تَنسَى |
|
|
6- |
We shall have you recite (the Verses of the
Quran repeatedly) so that you will not forget. |
|
إِلَّا مَا
شَاء اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَى |
|
|
7- |
Except for what God wills, since He truly
knows what is evident and manifest and what is hidden (to
others). |
|
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَى |
|
|
8- |
And We will make it easy for you. |
|
فَذَكِّرْ
إِن نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَى |
|
|
9- |
So mention it (the Quran) if (and when you
feel) it will be of benefit (to anyone). |
|
10- |
The person who is in awe and fear (of God) will keep
it in mind. |
|
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى |
|
|
11- |
But the misfortunate evil person will avoid
it. |
|
الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَى |
|
|
12- |
The kind of person who will enter the Great
Fire (of Hell). |
|
ثُمَّ لَا
يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى |
|
|
13- |
Then he (or she) will neither die in it, nor
will live. |
|
قَدْ
أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّى |
|
|
14- |
Certainly anyone who purifies himself (or
herself, from disbelief and sins) will be happy, |
|
وَذَكَرَ
اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى |
|
|
15- |
And mentions the Name of his Lord
and who does regular prayers. |
|
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
|
|
|
16- |
But you people prefer the life of
this world. |
|
وَالْآخِرَةُ
خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى |
|
|
17- |
Whereas the Afterlife is better and most
enduring. |
|
إِنَّ هَذَا
لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى |
|
|
18- |
In fact this point has been made in previous
Scriptures. |
|
صُحُفِ
إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى |
|
|
19- |
The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses. |
